Stunning. That's a one word description for this beautiful contemporary arts & crafts style home. What you see is what you'll get and much more...good design (right down to the kitchen drainboard), quality workmanship, spaciousness, atmosphere (gorgeous bird songs, lush greenery everywhere you look) and clean as a whistle. We loved the little touches, such as the Kona coffee beans and the bean grinder, the bowl of fresh fruit including papaya and bananas and, on the walls throughout, huge woodcut prints and photographs from island artists (saw more of this work in the Volcano Art Center). There's plenty of laundry detergent in the washer/dryer room and shampoo/conditioner in the showers. You won't miss any key cooking utensils, except maybe kitchen scissors but that's about it! And the location is 5 minutes from Volcano National Park's Visitor Center. SO convenient!! Now...word to the wise: it gets chilly in Volcano, so bring a sweater and long pants or at least some layering clothes. And it gets a bit nippy in this home, too, particularly in the a.m., so every morning we built a wonderful fire in the wood-burning stove which you'll need to warm the home, as there's no thermostat. Full instructions are provided so you can't go wrong! It was sheer pleasure to do this while making morning coffee. Overall, we have nothing but great memories from this place. We don't know the owner from a hill of coffee beans but we say to him: well done!!
The house is so sweet, clean and comfortable. My parents, my husband and I felt like home. My parents loved the hot tub, they spent 2 evenings in the tub. My husband loved fireplace. Beds are very comfortable. Beautiful art and furniture. The location is very close to the Volcano national park. Everything is so nice, we would come back again.
Hale 'Apapane was the perfect location to visit Volcano National Park. We loved our home away from home. The fire place, hot tub and rain forest surrounding the house gave that additional comfort and ambience of peace and relaxation. We felt refreshed after staying here. Thanks for your hospitality. We spent only one night at Hale Apapane, but we absolutely loved it and wish that we could have stayed longer! The house was extremely clean and comfortable, we loved the fresh fruit and coffee, and the beds were very comfy. The location was perfect for going to Volcano National Park.
The house is very clean and comfortable, it's perfect for family stay. The location is good too, 5 mins from the volcano national park, 30 mins to Hilo and 30 mins to black sand beach. It feels awesome to be waken up by birds surrounding the house. The host Adam is super nice guy, he responded all our questions timely, very helpful. :)
Beautiful home! My family and I stayed here and had a great time. The house is tucked away on a gorgeous little lot and super close to Volcanoes National Park which was great. It was awesome to easily be able to pop in and out of the park multiple times a day. A wonderful place to stay in that part of the island!
Thank you for the use of your beautiful home! We had a great stay and appreciated all the extras... coffee beans, creamer, lovely fruit bowl, jam for our Hawaiian sweet bread toast and more...
We also enjoyed the welcome we received from the apapane birds in the morning and nice walk around the neighborhood. Thanks again!
