Camilla's apartment is very nice and comfortable. Alexis, a friend of Camilla, was very helpful and showed us the next bus stops and supermarkets. Pigneto is cool with many small bars opening in the evening. Termini and the centre of Rome are easy to reach with bus/tram/metro. All in all, we had a great stay and we recommend this apartment for everyone who wants to have a true italian experience :)
The appartment is awesome, the neighbourhood its cool next to a bus stop and 20min from the metro. It was perfect, we had a great time.
Camilla communicated with us and told us how to get to the apartment, what train station to stop at (coming from Firenze), and was very kind. Unfortunately we didn't get to meet her, but we met her boyfriend instead, who let us in and showed us the terrace and how to get on the wifi network.
We didn't realize the washing machine was on the terrace -HAHA! Oh well, we could have texted and asked :) but we didn't need it bad so, no big deal.
It is in an edgy neighborhood, lots of graffiti, but I never felt unsafe. There were a lot of little cafes and restaurants on via del Pigneto, we enjoyed Caffe Pigneto (coffee and pastries), Roma App (great restaurant for dinner), and Il Fiorintino (pizza and calzones YUM). Plus, there is a little market on via del Pigneto on the weekdays where you can buy meat, cheese, produce, you name it -- all fresh and grown in Italy!
The apartment was clean and we had all the things we needed. It was a bit dusty but in an older building, I would expect that! It didn't cause any problems so it didn't matter :)
Thank you Camilla for a wonderful stay at your place!
Paolo and Camilla had been very helpful throughout our stay. We had a wonderful time at the apartment and enjoyed our stay very much. The terrace was lovely.
You can find supermarket, bars, restaurants around the neighborhood easily. The area can be a bit noisy at night due to the night life at the bars nearby but that's just the neighborhood.
Paolo was very accommodating and answered all my questions patiently. He even recommended a dinner place for my husband's birthday and helped us make a reservation. After our stay, he also helped us arrange taxi pickup early in the morning.
Thank you for the hospitality!
The place was comfortable, and quiet.
Camilla was a gracious host, and very accommodation.
We had a great time in Rome, this was a great apartment to relax in, especially the terrace. Everything you need, restaurants and markets all around and easy access into the centre of town by bus. Our hosts even organized a taxi for our early morning flight!
We spent the wonderful week in Rome in Camilla'a apartament. It was really great and comfortable. We loved spending evening on the big terrace. We're sure that we come back to Rome some day. We will stay in Camilla's flat :)
Firstly I would recommend to everyone to stay in Pigneto if they are heading to Roma. We loved staying in this neighbourhood as it was such a welcome relief from the horrible over crowded tourist areas. Pigneto has a cool arty unpretentious vibe that we really enjoyed.
The apartment is in the perfect location, at the end of the street is via del Pigneto where there are many local restaurants and bars with a great atmosphere.
We highly recommend visiting the restaurant on this strip 'Roma App' to be served by the lovely Francesco, who went above and beyond to make us feel at home - indulging us Aussies trying to speak some half Italian. If you eat here, you must try the Pesce dish- delicious!
The apartment had air con which worked very well, very much appreciated after a long day of sight seeing. The shower had good water pressure, plenty of hot water and the apartment was very clean. Paolo even let us use the washing machine which was a god send after a few weeks of travelling!
If you go for a walk across the train tracks you will find local cafe's and gelaterria, and little supermarkets where you can buy fresh cheese, bread and pepperoni from the deli section.
The coffee from the local cafe's was fantastic, not bitter at all and cheap! Two coffees and a water for the same price as one coffee in the tourist centre.
We were greeted by the cleaning lady on arrival at the apartment, who seemed quite lovely and left us the key. We spoke with Paolo via text if we needed anything.
One minor criticism was the bed was a little hard (for my partner) and the front door was a little hard to open (especially coming home after having dinner with wine!) but these criticisms are very minor and would not deter me from staying again.
A word of advise for travellers- if you get a taxi I would recommend knowing on the map how to get there and getting the driver to agree on an approximate price and route. In the end we paid 10€ from termini to the apartment, however this was a haggled down price from the original 17€ as the driver drove round and round, pretending to be lost and pulling over to ask locals where to go. It may be daunting at first but I would recommend bus 105 as it goes straight there.
All in all we really enjoyed our stay in Pigneto and the apartment, I would highly recommend it for an authentic stay in Rome away from the horrible tourist traps. The locals were very friendly and made us feel welcome. Ensure you get a bottle of chianti and sit on the terrace and watch the sun go down. Perfecto!
I highly recommend Camilla's place if you want to experience living in a smaller vibrant community in Rome. Pigneto is lively at night and there are plenty of restaurants to pick from. The apartment is conveniently located at a 15 minute bus ride from Termini station. Camilla and her boyfriend were away on vacation but were kind enough to text and email me to make sure we found everything alright. The rooms were clean and exactly as portrayed on the pictures. Thank you and would definitely stay again!
