The Space

55 sqm Top Floor Loft in the Choriner Street, Berlin Mitte. The Apartment on the 5th floor without an elevator will reward you with the finest view of the TV Tower (Alexanderplatz).
There you´ll find the apartment´s balkony comprised with a nice and cosy backyard atmosphere due to the very small size of the house´s backyard and the view over the neighboring balkonies and roof tops.
Out front (Choriner Str.) you´ll be amazed by the view facing Kastanienallee towards Mauerpark / Stadium over the roof tops through 2 big window doors with french balkony.
Sunlight pictures the atmosphere of this L-shaped loft. Sleeping at the one end, lounging in the corner and eating / cooking on the other end. All in one room but somehow seperated by the L shape.
Behind the kitchen there is the bathroom with bath tub and washing machine.
An inflatible mattress (2,00 x 1,40) can be provided extra.
The Choriner Strasse is extremely quiet and familiy friendly with an exclusive atmosphere. The traffic is very limited because of the traffic-calmed-zone and the never-available-parking-slots.
Nevertheless is the apartment very central because of the nearby Schönhauser Allee and Kastanienallee.
The Area is full of bars, restaurants and clothing shops, and on weekends there are grocery markets and fleamarkets in walking distance.
It is a very urban and hip part of town to live.
The connection to other parts of the city is very good because the U Bahn Station Eberswalter Str (U2) and the Tram (through Kastanienallee or Danziger Str.) are very close.

  • We had a great stay in Claus' apartment! Prime location and plenty of space for three!

  • I stayed at Claus' apartment for a week. It was a very comfortable space, well furnished and clean. I really enjoyed my stay. thanks for opening up your beautiful home!

A few things to keep in mind, this apartment is on 5th floor & there's no elevator. So you will have haul your bags.

  • I spent over a week in Claus's apartment. As other reviewers have noted it is larger than it appears in the photos and a couple could spend a very comfortable time there. While I didn't spend a great deal of time there it had all the facilities I needed and all in good working order. I was most relieved to find just how quiet the apartment was, certainly quieter than my own apartment so that was a holiday in itself!

The location was ideal - very close to U and S-Bahn stations and walkable to many central sights. Great selection of local bars, cafes and restaurants within a 15 minute walk. Very relaxed atmosphere in the neighbourhood.

Claus was a very helpful host. He very kindly accomodated my inconveniently late arrival and made useful suggestions for places to eat and drink locally.

I would definitely choose to stay here again if I return to Berlin.

  • The Loft was a perfect place for us to stay in Berlin! Top location, Schonhauserallee and Kastanienallee just round the corner, U-Bahn about 5 mins away by walk. Top floor with wonderful balcony and view on the Turm! Soft bed :) All mail communciations with Claus were prompt, directions given clear and accurate. Wondeful Internet connection! Would definitely stay again!
Some round the area tips: Wohlfart schocolate boutique on the ground floor (pepper chocolate!!), splendid breakfasts at Napoljonska cafe (Kastanienallee, 43) and Elbspeicher cafe (Sredzkistraße 41).

Danke Claus!

  • There's a reason Claus and his Berlin apartment have such great reviews. Claus was a great host. Communication before, during, and after our stay was great, and everything went smoothly. The apartment was perfect for the two of us - clean, tastefully decorated, light, quiet, and well-outfitted. It is also in a great location, solidly within Prenzlauer Berg but on the Mitte side of the neighborhood, with lots of cafes, bars, restaurants, and snack shops within blocks. It's also convenient to the flea market at the Mauerpark, bike tours from the Kulturbrauerei, and both a U-Bahn station on an excellent line (the U2) and a tram into Mitte. I would recommend Claus's apartment in a heartbeat, and hope we have the opportunity to stay there again.

  • Claus’s attic floor apartment is clean, super quiet, and you get loft-like feeling because the ceiling is really high. There is a fully-equipped kitchen, including coffee machine, the rest of the apartment furniture is cool and minimalistic. The location is great, also. I can absolutly recomment this appartment, you will definitely enjoy it.

  • We booked Claus' place at the last minute and I was quite pessimistic about it. "Loft apartment, I'm going to be banging my head all the time," as well as "five flights of stairs... noooooo," were the main thoughts running through my head.

But the pictures don't do the loft justice. It's huge, with very high ceilings. Large windows let the breeze through and we managed to stay reasonably comfortable in there during a Berlin heatwave.

The five flight walk-up is a bit taxing with luggage but it's OK once you're up there.

The area is great. Very close to lots of cafes, restaurants and bars, and a short stroll to the Ubahn and tramway. We wouldn't recommend the restaurant downstairs ("Walden") as we had a very disappointing meal there.

We'd certainly stay again and would recommend the place for a single or couple that want to be in a leafy urbane area with easy transport links.
