gardens around. The beach is just a short walk away. Also several shops and restaurants are easy to reach by foot or by walking. Experience the Thainess on a remote island.
The Thai-house is located on the small island Koh Mak.
The house has two floors, 2,5 bedrooms, two bigger balconies and a pavilion. Sea-view and a tropical garden around the house (800m2) gives you the right (Tha)island-feeling. It is the best deal you can get: live in a vacation home, but benefit from the facilities of a well-known resort.
The house has about 140m2, two bathrooms, dvd-player and two aircons and nice teak-furniture.Thai-restaurants with classic Thai- and sea-food are close by. Also little shops are very easy to reach by foot.
The house is convenient for families and is located inside the property of the Good Time Resort, Koh Mak.

Koh Mak is a relatively small island covering an area of 16sqkm.
It has far more tropical desert island feel to it than other islands nearby ( Koh Chang, Koh Kood) as no matter where you are you are never more than a few minutes from a palm fringed beach.
No wonder that the “Sunday Times” newspaper named Koh Mak as one of the its “World’s Top Secret Beaches in late 2006.
Away from the two main beaches on the northwest and northeast coasts, the scenery mainly compromises rubber and coconut plantations.
Koh Mak has only three seasons defining its climate and they are as varied as the four seasons found in less temperate climes. Between the months of March and May the island is in the throes of its hot season. Clear blue skies with very little rain and even less wind mean high temperatures and an abundance of slowing down to deal with the heat. Moving from June to October the south west monsoon blows. Temperatures remain warm and the winds of the south west monsoon bring some relief from higher temperatures but with intermittent rain showers that can be sudden and dramatic yet rarely last longer than an hour. The final change in climate on Koh Mak comes between November and February, locally known as the cool season, when the north east monsoon blows slightly cooler air with very little rain if any at all.
The guests of villa Ginger have access to the library with books and dvds. There is a little pool you can enjoy for free and we are also happy with booking classical Thai-massages for you.
Koh Mak is a beautiful island and offers many remote beaches. Koh Rayang and Koh Kood and 50 other islands are nearby and some are a part of the Koh Chang National Park.
If you wish, we certainly help you to organize a private pick-up service with a limousine (1-3 persons = 4.000 Baht) or minibus (1-5 persons =5.000 Baht). The driver pick you up at 10.30 at the hotel or airport.
We rented the Thai house for 4 nights and stayed there as a couple traveling with my brother (we wanted to stay together in one house). Yodying was very helpful before the trip to figure out how to get to Koh Mak from Koh Chang (it was still off season and the slow boat started just one day before our arrival). The house has enough space for 2 couples traveling with 2 bigger children (there are 2 separate bedrooms, plus 1 smaller room with bunk beds). The surroundings are lush and tropical. The house has an outside kitchen as well as a terrace on the first floor from which you can see the ocean. To walk to the bigger beach it takes around 5 to 10 mins, depending on where you go. We did not rent a motorbike but walked a lot, which was no problem. The house is part of a resort which has several individual houses for rent. The restaurant on site was closed because of off season at night. We only had breakfast once in the resort and went to the beach the other days. Susanna, the manager, welcomed us very kind and was there to answer our questions. Once we had no water and the issue was solved within 30 mins. We had a good time at Good Time resort! When we travel only as a couple though, we will rent a bungalow directly on the beach next time. For people who love lush islands with perfect beaches, Koh Mak is the right choice! Thank you very much Susanna and Yodying to make our stay memorable!
Beautiful large house in the quiet area of Koh Mak. Two levels of the house were spacy enough for six people but we were with three. Two bathrooms, outside shower, tiny kitchen, two tv's plus DVD player (were very useful during rainy days). We were hosted by guys and Susanna from reception of Koh Mak resort. Although it was off season (unfortunately no scuba diving and other excursions like dolphins encounter at the mainland
The place was fantastic, and nestled i a very quiet place. We loved the 2 floors so we could spread out and relax. Unfortunately we had to cut our trip a little short, but would really recommend this to anyone who is looking for a nice quiet place to crash that is off the beaten path.
What a fantastic spot! We stayed 3 days, but could have stayed much longer if our schedule allowed it. The place was really great, for our group of four. Koh Mak is a small island, and being in a more centralized location with an easy walk to two different beaches was awesome! It felt more peaceful being away from the line of resorts along the beaches. Kerstin and Yodying were really helpful before and while we were on the island. They picked us up and made sure that we had everything we needed. Thanks for being so hospitable. We hope to come back again!!
About the house:
We stayed in the 'Chili House' for two weeks in february. We really loved the place. The house was just liked we expected after reading the desciption and even more. The house was even bigger than we expected and also had a nice seaview! It is also perfect if you have kids. Our son of 2,5 years loved the swimming pool and the kids corner with many toys and books.
Yodying was a great host, friendly and always nearby in the Goodtime resort if we had any questions. We good even recieve the WIFI from the Koh Mak resort if we were sitting on the upper terrace (get the password from the bar at the end of the Koh Mak resort) Otherwise we used the WIFI by sitting at the reception or swimming pool from the Goodtime resort. The Goodtime resort is beautiful set in the jungle, with only nice Thai traditional houses, and the location is central on the island with everything in walking distance. Allthough it is sometimes hard to walk in the sun upon the hill, use the shortcut through the resort or the jungle trail behind te resort to avoid the hill.
About the island Koh Mak:
Koh Mak is a small island. We have been to many islands in Thailand and Koh Mak is one of our favourit. If your looking for a quiet island to relax, without many tourists and bars, Koh mak is the place. There are a few resorts and restaurants and small shops on the island. If you want to party or meet many backpackers go to another island. The people on the island are very helpfull and friendly. The only thing we didn't like are the sandflies on the beach. Fortunally our son didn't got bit, they only liked older blood.
We had a great vacation, thanks to Yodying!
We had a good stay on Koh Mak until the end when I realized some jewelry had gone missing from our room. Unfortunately I have not had a response back from the host since leaving. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay, nice breakfast, very helpful staff (other than the above mentioned instance obviously).
We are very sorry about the missing neckless. You checked in December 6th and checked out with your friends December 13th. December 19th - 6 days AFTER you checked out - we received the email from you about the missing neckless (13 days after you saw your neckless last time) This is a long period and therefore I do not think it is fair that you try us look like we are responsible for the lost.I believe the chance you lost it somewhere else is much higher. All our rooms have a safe and I reccommend you in the future to use the safe to avoid further missunderstandings. I have answered all your emails very fast (almost instantly) but that time I was travelling myself. The courtesy does not allow me to copy the email I received from you December 19th, but the details looked different than from your post at this point.
A great place to stay on a tropic island. However, we did have some bad luck as we found a over a metre long snake in our bed as well as there were some rat(s) inside the roof keeping noice. The snake was removed from the house but unfortunately the rats were too wise to be trapped and kept on messing around the house until the end of our stay.
After all this is a great place to relax!
Dear Tero, Thank you for your visit. By the way: after you left we catched the mouse. Unfortunatelly we catched the snake before the snake had a chance to eat the mouse. Otherwise you would have only one bad experience and not two :-)Sorry for the disturbing. We have offered you another house to stay in, but you mentioned you are happy with the house -even with the mouse :-) Hope to see you again.
We had a fantastic week on Koh Mak staying in the Lemon Tree villa at the Good Time resort. Koh Mak is such a beautiful island with many beaches to explore and fabulous hidden away restaurants. Yodying really helped us to get there as we came from Siem Reap in Cambodia and also helped us get a driver back to Bangkok. The accommodation is excellent, beautiful bedroom with big window seat and polished wood floors, you feel like you're in a tree house, there is a little pavilion outside the room to sit and read in. If you want to escape and be on a desert island with the sand between your toes this is the place, if you want marble bathrooms and gold taps its not for you. There are Sand flies on Koh Mak but coconut oil is an effective deterrent and did not stop me from having a ytruly great experience!
This place is truly amazing! If you like to come and get a feel of a private island - it is a place for you. The whole island has a very relaxing atmosphere. All the villas at the resort are surrounded by lush vegetation giving you an extra sense of privacy. Villas are simply and tastefully furnished. Restaurant on site serves great food. Cost of living on the island is at least 3 times cheaper than in Bangkok or other tourist places of Thailand. Locals are super friendly. Nobody is trying to sell you stuff on the street or the beach. Nobody is bothering you with offers to get massage or a jet sky. In fact, nobody is bothering you with anything!!! If you need time to relax with you loved one or your whole family, this place is for you. Goodtime resort is by far the best resort on Koh Mak. I traveled all over Thailand and this is my favorite spot. You really feel yourself like you own it. Island has great beaches and you can kayak to many surrounding uninhabited islands to get even more privacy! You can explore island by scooter which you can rent in the resort. Yodying and Kirsten are the owners and they always make an extra step to make you feel at home. I am definitely coming back. This is indeed the most relaxing vacation that I have had - away from noise, drunk tourists, pollution and all the other things you have to deal with at any big tourist location. Koh Mak is simply perfect and Goodtime resort is the best!
