The Space

The Thai-house is located on the small island Koh Mak.
The house has two floors, 2,5 bedrooms, two bigger balconies and a pavilion. Sea-view and a tropical garden around the house (800m2) gives you the right (Tha)island-feeling. It is the best deal you can get: live in a vacation home, but benefit from the facilities of a well-known resort.
The house has about 140m2, two bathrooms, dvd-player and two aircons and nice teak-furniture. This property has a little outdoor kitchen with a counter, fridge and very basic cooking facilities. Convenient to prepare baby-food and breakfast. Thai-restaurants with classic Thai- and sea-food and very reasonable prices are close by. Also little shops are very easy to reach by foot.
The house is convenient for families and is located inside the property of the Good Time Resort, Koh Mak.
Please request for Wifi, if this is essential for your stay.
This beautiful two floor Thai-style villa on stilts is the perfect accommodation to stay with a family or friends.
We are able to provide bedding and bath-towels, but we ask that guests bring their own beach-towels.
You also have access to our library with a big selection of dvd's, books and please feel free to use our office space in the "library"
It is pretty easy to get to Koh Mak via private minibus or limo-service. You can also travel by public bus or you can also fly with Bangkok Air to Trat. We will help you with the transportation.
- Easy to get from Bangkok to Koh MaK Island: You can fly with Bangkok Airways in just 45 Minutes, or we organize for you a pick-up serice with a private limo or minibus (4.500 Baht or 5.000 Baht for a minibus) and also we can organize the transfer by boat for you (450 Baht one-way by speedboat, takes 45 minutes)
There are no banks and no ATM's on Koh Mak. Checks are not accepted. It is almost impossible to exchange currencies. Please bring Thai Baht with you.
Activities include scuba diving and snorkelling – there are two dive shops on the island. You can enjoy a traditional Thai massage on the beach or at the Good Time Resort, visit the Koh Mak Museum and discover the history of the island, or learn Thai cooking with "Smile Cooking School". Boats are easily hired to take you to some of the many other unspoiled islands nearby. In the high season, there is a regular speedboat service to the nearby island of Koh Chang, the second biggest in Thailand.
-Several restaurants in walking distance (100 to 350 meters)
-Two sand beaches are just 250 meters away
-Breakfast can be provided for 190 Baht (Bread, Eggs, Coffee, Fruits, Jam, Butter etc.) at our Restaurant
You also have access to our library with a big selection of dvd's, books and please feel free to use our office space in the "library"
Koh Mak is a relatively small island covering an area of 16sqkm.
It has far more tropical desert island feel to it than other islands nearby ( Koh Chang, Koh Kood) as no matter where you are you are never more than a few minutes from a palm fringed beach.
No wonder that the “Sunday Times” newspaper named Koh Mak as one of the its “World’s Top Secret Beaches in late 2006.
Away from the two main beaches on the northwest and northeast coasts, the scenery mainly compromises rubber and coconut plantations.
Koh Mak has only three seasons defining its climate and they are as varied as the four seasons found in less temperate climes. Between the months of March and May the island is in the throes of its hot season. Clear blue skies with very little rain and even less wind mean high temperatures and an abundance of slowing down to deal with the heat. Moving from June to October the south west monsoon blows. Temperatures remain warm and the winds of the south west monsoon bring some relief from higher temperatures but with intermittent rain showers that can be sudden and dramatic yet rarely last longer than an hour. The final change in climate on Koh Mak comes between November and February, locally known as the cool season, when the north east monsoon blows slightly cooler air with very little rain if any at all.

Guest Access

The guests of villa Ginger have access to the library with books and dvds. There is a little pool you can enjoy for free and we are also happy with booking classical Thai-massages for you.

Interaction with Guests

We receive often questions like: "how will the weather be next month or next August"... sorry- we really don't know. But what we know is that the past years we had many hours of sunshine - even in rainy season. And normally rainy season is not as bad as some imagine, there are many days of sunshine (but it could rain many hours as well).

The Neighborhood

Koh Mak is a beautiful island and offers many remote beaches. Koh Rayang and Koh Kood and 50 other islands are nearby and some are a part of the Koh Chang National Park.

Getting Around

Bus from Bangkok Ekamai Bus Terminal
We can book as well a private transportation for you.
Bangkok Airways from Bangkok to Trat

Hello, my name is Yodying,

We currently live with our son and daughter (10 and 12 years old) in Chang Mai, Thailand.

The island of Koh Mak is still very peaceful and has not been overwhelmed by tourists like other Thai islands. We wish to maintain this peace for our guests and give them a quiet and relaxing experience while still providing as many amenities as possible.

The guests that best enjoy Koh Mak and our properties are those that are looking for true tranquility. The beaches are beautiful and isolated, there are typically very few people on the island, and the beaches are always empty. There is plenty of time and peace to enjoy good food, do work if you wish at our open office space, and relax on the beach.

We look forward to welcoming you to Thailand and wish you a great time on Koh Mak. We are happy to assist you with your transportation to Koh Mak and to answer any other questions.

PS: We receive often questions like: "how will the weather be in August"... sorry- we really don't know. But what we know is that the past years we had many hours of sunshine - even in rainy season. And normally rainy season is not as bad as some imagine. From my experience, rainy season in Thailand is has more sun-shine days then summer in Berlin.

Kind regards,

Kerstin & Yodying
