About this listing
Our beautiful little studio space has a modern feel and is brilliantly located for all the fun of local Brixton. It's also very easy to get around London from here and takes only 15-20 minutes to get to Oxford Circus on the tube. Wifi very strong!
Our Garden studio is a beautifully converted former garage/coachouse. We have lived in the house next door since 1998 and know the area very well. We are now selling the property in order to downsize in London but the studio is still available to rent for a few months.
AirBnB photos exaggerate the size of the space so please don't be disappointed. The space is "bijou". (small but perfectly formed!)
The neighbourhood is quiet and safe, with EXCELLENT TRANSPORTATION to the centre......
10-15 minutes walk from Clapham North and Brixton tube stations. Max 15-20 minutes away from any site in the centre.
Brixton centre has a very positive vibe and the relatively recent regeneration of Brixton village has brought the area on to the the London FOODIE map...MORLEYS department store has pretty much everything, including a Top Shop outlet and a MAC counter. Clothes shops include very good value H and M, New Look and TK Max.
The Brixton Lido in Brockwell Park has a super Gym and an outdoor pool.
The total space of this property is approx 16 square meters. Tall ceilinged, but the sleeping platform is only 1.2 metres high so its a bit of a struggle for "oldies" I've been told.
The Wet room (bathroom) is spacious and has a large Powershower and is tiled in black slate. (You will find little extras such as cotton pads, earbuds, deodorant, shower gel).
There's a hair dryer and Washer Drier machine
The sleeping platform has a double mattress fitted with luxurious Egyptian cotton linen, duvet and comfortable pillows.
We supply you with towels.
There is a TV /radio and Wi-Fi connection is very good as broadband has just been installed
Breakfast isn't included but the cooking facilities are excellent with an electric hob, oven and fridge. Ideal for preparing your packed lunch for the day or a cosy dinner at home. Sainsbury's supermarket at the end of the road has everything you need and there are plenty of take aways in the area too if you don't feel like cooking.
The cupboards are full of oils, herbs and spices, tea, coffee, sugar and you'll find mineral water and a few English items in the fridge such as mustard, jam etc.
We're about 10 mins walk from either Clapham OR Brixton and in a nice quiet street so you'll be able to enjoy a lie in if you've had a late night.
You'll probably be met by our lovely Brazilian cleaner, Vanessa. Her English isn't amazing, but she tries very hard....If there's anything you need that isn't in the studio, we're happy to provide it.
Interaction with Guests
We are living on the other side of London at the moment, but available via mobile or email at any time.
It's a really quiet area. Away from the city..... but central. Brixton has a lovely "local" feel, is multicultural and colourful with lots of great places to eat and drink
The public transport is fabulous! There are nearly ten buses at the end of the road that take you to nearly everywhere in London! and there are two underground stations, (Clapham North and Brixton) only 10-12 minutes walk away.
Please try and take your shoes off at the door
Please arrange a time to hand keys back to Vanessa in person before leaving OR leave the keys on the table and close the door carefully behind you. If you do this, please confirm with Lizzie via email/text beforehand so that we know.
Please respect our neighbours and don't play loud music late at night.
Please put the rubbish outside on Monday night in the black wheelie bin of 54 Lambert Road.
Try and leave the place as you found it :)
REMEMBER TO LOCK BOTH THE GARDEN AND THE STREET DOORS EVERY TIME YOU LEAVE
We thank you for your consideration
Scott greeted us upon arrival at the place and made us feel welcome. Overall it was a comfortable stay, we had all the amenities we needed including WIFI. Bed was comfortable and sheets smelled crisp and clean. The wet room was probably the only issue as the shower makes the toilet wet and the studio was a little smaller than what we had expected, but this didn't impact on the overall stay - would recommend if you need to stay in Brixton (as we did, to be close to a friend who was getting married). Lots of buses on Brixton Hill.
I am always sorry not to meet my guests but my day job gets in the way. Antonio was a considerate guest and very polite. They left the studio immaculately and what I also genuinely appreciated were his helpful remarks and the private feedback he gave me. I have taken it all on board and have posted a floorplan of the studio on to the site which I hope will help to give more information to prospective guests and avoid disappointment with the overall size of the space which is an issue I guess not helped by the very wide-angled shots of the room by the official AirBnb Photographer. I don't have the means of contacting you now that the review period is over except by writing here. So... thank you Antonio and happy future travelling. Your thoughtfulness appreciated by Lizzie
We really enjoyed our stay at the studio in Brixton! Lizzie is a very nice host, and her place has everything you need in it. Another plus is that you have good access to public transport. Even a tube strike didn't hold us back during our visit, as we had a bus straight to the city centre.
This is an extremely comfortable and thoughtfully designed space, in an excellent area.
The kitchen is very well-equipped, and the bathroom extremely spacious.
There were no hitches whatsoever.
I was sorry that I couldn't stay longer, and would certainly recommend this studio to others.
The room is really tiny but well-equipped. The location was alright, it took about 15-20 mins from the metro to the flat, generally it was a nice experience staying there!
We had a fine time in Lizzie's Brixton studio. The apartment is compact, but it has all of the necessary amenities (plus a few more!), and everything worked well for us. While it is a bit off the beaten path, we enjoyed exploring South London from this home base, and we were also able to get to the center easily via the Brixton Tube. Lizzie was helpful and responsive via Airbnb messaging before and during our stay.
