About this listing
Best Location near East River, exquisitely restored, comfortable, historical, large artist loft. Just minutes to Manhattan and the best spots in Williamsburg; restful, avant-garde, inspiring, the real cool deal. Cable, WiFi, AC, WBFP.
The front: Glamorous, huge bedroom with a new queen size bed, a full size bed and the white leather couch folds out to a full size bed. Antique wooden bench to set your luggage, authentic high tin ceilings drooping with chandeliers floating on wood floors
In a 19th century restored Sea Captains House an entire ground floor with a shady, cool, oasis, private garden awaits you. My place has the greatest location! High restored tin ceilings and chandeliers floating over glossy hardwood floors in the main large bedroom. A brick WBFP (duraflame logs only please) and slate floors greet you in the foyer of this amazing space that leads you into a cozy partially equipped efficient kitchenette ( coffee maker, full stove/oven, pots, pans, tea kettle, microwave, stainless steel fridge, sink) with a precious sky lighted dining room alcove that seats 4. Walk beyond the dining room and you will find yourself in a beautifully restored glass carriage house that serves as your dramatic living room (with double pane windows and its own separate gas heater to keep you toasty warm in the winter as you watch snow fall in the backyard) and or becomes your spare bedroom. In the warm months you can open a glass garage door in this carriage house and it becomes part of a shady garden complete with an apple, fig and birch tree. Birds are chirping, apples are falling or ready for picking in this backyard space. Getting off the New York City streets and lounging in this oasis of a space sipping your favorite beverage is just too good to be true. There is also a bar-b-que in the garden, so pickup something great for the grill at the Williamsburg Food Town Market only 5 blocks away.
The space has east and west windows and is elegant and "zen." Tiled bathroom with stainless steel shower complete this space and full laundry service is available up the street. One comfortable queen size bed, a full size bed, and a pull out couch in the large front room (3 beds in total in this room), a good queen size fold down couch that sleeps two comfortably in the glass living room are there for your sleeping comfort. The layout makes it perfect and private for two couples to stay easily or a family of 6. By NYC standards, there is tons of room in my 1500 sq ft loft inside plus an outside deck and yard.
Then open the door, walk down the artistic hall and out the front door of the building and you are in the hippest most happening neighborhood in NYC's Brooklyn waterfront just 3 minutes from the EAST RIVER ferry into Manhattan's 34 St, and just minutes walking to East River Parks with gorgeous views of the river and bridges and the Manhattan skyline. Eat out at the owner run amazing restaurants like "Sweet Water" (bistro)N. 6th St, "Aurora"(Italian) Grand St, "Sea" (beautiful Thai) and the classic "Teddy's"(american bistro)N.8th St. More traditionally, the best steak house, "Peter Luger's" Broadway is also nearby as well as "Giando's"(Italian) Kent Ave (the best view) on the water for a sunset dinner. " B.A.D." (american bistro) Grand St. two and a half blocks up the street serves breakfast all day. These are just the tip of the iceberg of great restaurants. Shopping whether for food/ wine / cheese or the non edible things is great. Boutiques abound for the clotheshorse that is hip. Go into the "Bedford Cheese Shop" on Bedford Ave, into "Mast Brothers Chocolate" on North 3rd coming back from the subway, or to the weekend flea market on North 6 off Kent Ave and you will not want to leave the neighborhood..... Why? There is also lots of diverse cultural nightlife like "The Knitting Factory" with great music and drinks a few blocks away. Then you come back to a beautiful, elegant, comfortable oasis and the envy of all "Williamsburgers".
A 10 min cab ride/car service and you are in Manhattan. EastRiver ferry is a 3 minute walk up the street with service to Midtown or Downtown Manhattan (check schedules) and is a quick and scenic way to get into Manhattan. Interaction with Guests
The place is for your private use, though we are never far away. Upon receiving you with our wonderful assistant, we are eager to answer any questions or give a suggestion. Feel free to contact us throughout your stay.
It's great proximity to Manhattan, and its cool village feel. Many owner run restaurants, bars shops that make it cozy, unique, hip and classy. It is a real neighborhood. It was years before a semi industrial Polish/ Italian neighborhood with many older buildings that had stores on the ground floor and apartments above. Then the artist came in and cleaned up the rundown places, frequented the few local places and it became the hippest place. In the 1990's it was the largest concentration of artist in the world. Few remain for Williamsburg became too popular when everybody else caught on how cool it is. Their vibe is still there though. Now skyrise apartments/ and condo's are on the waterfront and just a few of the precious older places like mine remain.
By subway, ferry, car or foot it is a breeze to get around Williamsburg or to and from Manhattan.
The L train /Bedford Ave stop is the closest very frequent, quick subway and is a neat, fun walk (10 min) passing stores, and restaurants. One stop and you are in Manhattan. Everything you want is along Bedford Ave or right off it.

Todd's place is located in such a great area! Walking distance to the pier where you get amazing views of the Manhattan skyline. It's also walking distance to some of the best restaurants and cafes in Brooklyn. His friend, Azul, who welcomed us was super friendly and nice. Place was airy, clean and so unique. Will definitely stay here again!
Todd and Azul were both there to welcome us, very nice;-)! The house was perfectly made for our group of 5, 2 parents & 3 children. With a nice, cosy garden which Todd maintains very well. The location of the apartment is absolutely perfect. We love NY and really love Williamsburg. We'll definitely be back!
Love, Mirjam, Louis & kids
My husband and I took our 15yr daughter and her friend to NY for the first time. Todd’s apartment was the perfect place for this memorable occasion. It was a great experience, the apartment is spacious, my daughter and her friend had their own space while my husband and I had our space. It’s fully equipped, tastefully furnished with an art influenced which we all loved! Well located from nearby Subways, East River ferry , to the hip upcoming restaurants. And most important Azul, Todd and his wife were so accommodating to our crazy schedule upon arriving, they were GREAT hosts throughout our stay.
We were welcomed upon arrival. Neighborhood was great and the unit was clean and neat upon arrival. Our host showed us around the unit and gave us a quick introduction. We were very pleased and will plan on another trip to Williamsburg and a stay with Todd in the future
Todd's place is definitely in my top list on airbnb so far. My favorite part is the urban-zen-ish living room with giant eco-friendly window walls. You can actually lifting a whole side of the wall into the roof and entering into a secret zen garden, where left us a wonderful family moment. We experienced a wabi-sabi atmosphere in the artistic center in Brooklyn this time and I can feel Todd and his partner's enthusiasm to the city, art and life. This place worths way more than the price they listed because it inspired me a lot. Will definitely come back if possible.
Me and my Family of 4 stayed in Todd's apartment for 7 nights. It was a great experience due to the fact that the apartment was spacious, fully equipped, well furnished and well located from nearby subway stations and the East River ferry.
Todd is a wonderful, helpful person and a great host. Since he was around he took care that we were comfortable and was always available for any help. The fact that he stayed above in the same building was specially comforting for us.
We unfortunately could not take advantage of the outsoor deck area due to poor weather at times but the ambience due to the large glazed garage style opening door lets in a lot of light and fresh air, while making one feel connected with the outdoors, even when the door is shut.
We entertained a few friends while we were at Todd's place and all of them were impressed with the apartment and the neighbourhood.
I would recommend the apartment to all who want to spend quality time in NYC , specially if you are in need of a largish place.
Kære Todd og Azul. Tak for nogle fantastiske dage i jeres dejlige lejlighed i Williamsburg. Vi og vores fem børn nød opholdet fra start til slut. Jeres stue med "garagelåge" ud til haven med grill osv. er et stort plus :-)
