About This Listing
Homestead is a small town south of Miami, very safe and peaceful, unlike the hustle and bustle of Miami. My apartment is on a private condominium, with very little road traffic or noise, ideal if you are looking to actually rest during the night.
Spent a day walking at the Everglades? Used up all your oxygen tanks diving in Key Largo? Tired of repacking your chute from a day of skydiving? Come rest here! I offer very fast WiFi, but I don't have cable TV at home (though you are welcome to use my Netflix account to enjoy a movie or TV show).
I'll be happy to help you pick places to visit while in Miami, and if you just wanna hang out after partying all day, that's fine too.
I'm a certified geek, so if you like Star Trek and that type of stuff we can have a great time too. Please note I have a cat, so heads up if you are allergic.
Homestead is known as the Gateway to the Keys. It is the last "big" city before you leave the continent. There are plenty of places to fish and swim and go on boat rides. I don't do these things myself, having never seen a fish outside of a blue MacDonalds sandwich carton, but you get the gist...
Keep in mind Miami is not like NY or any European city where you can use public transport to move about: YOU WILL NEED A CAR. Believe me. If you are thinking of taking the bus for transport, I really do not recommend you rent my room, you will be stuck using up your vacation time transferring from bus to bus.
If you like to Skydive, Skydive Miami is about 15 minutes away. They aren't very big on fun jumps (focus more on the tandem crowd) but you could get some good jumping in the mornings. There is plenty of diving and snorkeling opportunities just down the road in the Keys as well. Cheers!
Guests are welcome to use all areas of the house, and have their own private bedroom and bathroom. Feel free to cook and store your groceries in the fridge too. Please make sure to clean up after you're done (and just putting dirty dishes on the dishwasher does not count as cleaning up ok?) ;-))
I'm pretty laid back, so common sense rules apply. The TV is located in the living room and guests are welcome to watch at any hour and be in charge of the remote :-) I usually keep to myself in my own room, so you'll more or less have the house to you when you are here. Feel free to use the kitchen as well, but please return everything to a tidy state afterwards. I have no problems with guests coming in or out at late hours, but of course, no loud music or TV very late at night (past 11pm). If you wish to do a load of laundry, please let me know **before** you start the washer. If you need an early check in, or a late check out, please let me know before hand, I can usually accommodate you (as long as you let me know in advance).
Abraco...
The communication and texting with Tiago was very good. We arrived later than we said, that was no problem for him. He gave us the possibility to get in even he was not at home.
But instead of that our room and our bathroom were a big disapointment to us. The carpet floor in our room was stained and in the bathroom were a lot of hair and kind of fluffs/dirt. The edges in bathroom were moulded. It was unclean. The bedclothes werent washed or fresh. Unfortunately we didnt feel comfortable.
We are sorry but we cannot recommend this place to people who attaches importance to cleanliness.
I'm sorry you didn't feel comfortable here. I'm honestly surprised by your review. I have over 200 positive reviews and you will be hard pressed to find one that mentions my place is unclean. I will however take your review to heart and check everything again, making sure I continue to maintain a high cleanliness rating. Next time you are in town please drop by for a free night, I want to prove I have a nice place. Thanks!
Everything is as described. The guidelines provided by Tiago to find the house are great. Tiago is also a nice guy. We really enjoyed our stay!
i really enjoyed my stay at Tiagos place. it was a nice room with a beautiful big bed. also the bathroom was great. Tiago allowed me to use the kitchen and everything i needed. i really can recommend him!!
good host in a nice neighborhood, nice experience but a little far to any where. You need a car for sure.
Tiago was very accommodating; in fact, due to a change in plans I needed to arrive a day earlier and that wasn't a problem at all. He had an extra room in which I could stay. After the other guests left he cleaned the bathroom and made up the room for me. He even left the light on in the room for me, as I didn't come home until late that night.
His place is very tidy, exactly as he describes it and is only 5 min away from the highway as well as grocery stores, if it's even that far. The furthest south I ventured was Bahia Honda State Park, which was about 2 hours away. John Pennekamp State Park is attainable in about 40 min.
This was my first Airbnb experience and a very positive one. Thank you Tiago!

About the Host, Tiago
Hello! I am a work-at-home geek and I'll be happy to help you pick some places to visit if this is your first time visiting Miami. If it's not, I can help you anyway :-). I have a pet cat called Bender, I like sci-fi movies and I skydive. I also read a lot (though not while skydiving). Have you ever watched Monk? I'm kinda like him: I like to keep my house very tidy, and I don't make a lot of noise. I'm originally from Brazil, so if you want to ask me how to say anything in Portuguese, I can certainly help with that too. Looking forward to meeting you! :-)
Here you will find a Publix (groceries), Walgreens and CVS (pharmacy), McDonald's, Little Caesar (pizza), Robeks (juices and smoothies), Casavana (cuban food) and a chinese food place.
Get your speed on!
About 30 factory outlet stores, including Nike and Gap.
If you are brave enough.
A full day of walking and watching the beasties.
Food for the mind.
Watch the fish and sea life swim by.
This is my favorite restaurant in South Beach. If you tell your friends you were in Miami, this is the spot they will think of.
A vast park with a special bird watching trail.
A good place to fish. They also rent kayaks.
Visit the southernmost point in the lower 48.
