Homestead is a small town south of Miami, very safe and peaceful, unlike the hustle and bustle of Miami. My apartment is on a private condominium, with very little road traffic or noise, ideal if you are looking to actually rest during the night.
Spent a day walking at the Everglades? Used up all your oxygen tanks diving in Key Largo? Tired of repacking your chute from a day of skydiving? Come rest here! I offer very fast WiFi, but I don't have cable TV at home (though you are welcome to use my Netflix account to enjoy a movie or TV show).
I'll be happy to help you pick places to visit while in Miami, and if you just wanna hang out after partying all day, that's fine too.
I'm a certified geek, so if you like Star Trek and that type of stuff we can have a great time too. Please note I have a cat, so heads up if you are allergic.
Homestead is known as the Gateway to the Keys. It is the last "big" city before you leave the continent. There are plenty of places to fish and swim and go on boat rides. I don't do these things myself, having never seen a fish outside of a blue MacDonalds sandwich carton, but you get the gist...
If you like to Skydive, Skydive Miami is about 15 minutes away. They aren't very big on fun jumps (focus more on the tandem crowd) but you could get some good jumping in the mornings. There is plenty of diving and snorkeling opportunities just down the road in the Keys as well. Cheers!
Guests are welcome to use all areas of the house, and have their own private bedroom and bathroom. Feel free to cook and store your groceries in the fridge too (just make sure you clean up afterward ok? ;-))
Tiago has a very nice and clean Apartment for which the price is really good. I can definitely recommend it.
We spend only one night and where there a bit late, but Tiago made us feel at home in his flat. The apartment is very clean and enjoyable. It is a great place to stay for this area.
I had a pleasant experience staying here. The apartment is in a very nice guarded private area, with small new houses, even a small lake. The private bedroom and the bathroom is all fine. When I was there Tiago had some friends over, and they were very nice, they stopped the conversation in the livingroom when I switched off the light in my room. I stayed only for one night and left the next morning, so I did not have much chance to speak a lot with Tiago.
Tiago was a great host, very helpful and accommodating. The room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. Although we didn't use the kitchen much, it appeared to have everything one would need to cook there if desired. The location is a great jumping off point for the Everglades/Keys and is an easy 45 minute drive from the Miami airport. We enjoyed our visit and would stay there again.
Very personable host. No tv connection other than Netflix, but able to access internet for Olympics news if we wanted to (funny, we didn't have the time...). Home was clean, bed comfortable. Closet rod was very high for 4'11" person, luckily husband is taller! Enjoyed watching the cat. Difficult to navigate through the condo area without GPS, but we let our GPS show us the way, and we were fine.
Me and a friend stayed with Tiago for one night. The room is very clean and the Kingsize bed was soooo comfortable! The bathroom was clean and nice, too.
We were several hours late, but Tiago arranged everything so he would be there to welcome us, very nice. Tiago is very smart and funny. We could use his kitchen and had a nice evening with him and a friend of him in the living room. The cat Bender is shy, but adorable and cute! A short, but very comfortable and fun stay.
Very nice host, the flat is very clean and perfect for one or two nights in this area.
I stayed with Tiago for a full month while I did a medical school rotation in Kendall. Tiago was fantastic! He was always available to help with anything and everything including moving my luggage in and helping with traffic advice or directions. The house is nice and very clean, and the bedroom is large and very comfortable. The house is in a gated community and I felt very safe in the area. I had a lot of room to store my extra things as well and I had a lot of fridge space to use. I saw that another guest had mentioned that there were "insects" in the house. There were no insects. Having completed med school in a hot, humid climate like Florida, I knew that the only time you'll see insects inside is when you leave open food out on the counter for hours upon hours and only then will you see a few teeny tiny ants. Binder, Tiago's cat, is awesome and curious! Tiago also helped collect the numerous birthday cards that my family sent to the home. He was checking the mail daily for me and I really appreciated that. Had I been able to schedule another rotation in the near by area, I would have stayed here again. I would absolutely recommend Tiago's home to anyone traveling in the area! Thanks Tiago!
