The Space

Bright and Beautiful modern apartment in the center of the city with access to cafes, gardens, parks, museums, & funky neighborhoods. Two blocks from all forms of public transportation including buses, subway and airport trains!

If you are booking between 28th April through 15th May 2014, note that I am away traveling during this time. Thus you must arrive on 27th Apr so I can do the key handshake. I would prefer someone who can rent for that entire period of time. You will have the place to yourself and hence the higher price. I am back on 14th afternoon. Thx!

Neighborhood -
I have a beautiful one bed room apt for guests on 2nd floor that is three blocks to Castro Muni subway train station and one block from all cool cafes, restaurants, shops in the Castro, Duboce & Lower Haight areas. This is one of the most beautiful and charming neighborhoods of San Francisco called Duboce Triangle and it is next to Castro/Haight valley. You will be sharing the apt with me.

Sleeping options -
For one person - I have a comfortable sofa that turns into a bed at nite for one person in the living room. There is place for your stuff. If I am traveling, then you get to use the apt/bed room for yourself.
For two - You will have your own private room with a bed for two. There is a supplemental fee for the 2nd person.

I provide fresh sheets/towels for all my guests. Cannot do any PETS!

I am a professional guy in academia and a serial entrepreneur. Also LGBT friendly. I host and also use airbnb frequently when I travel. So I treat my guests as I like to be treated. I am a linguist and speak German, broken French, & Hindi. Been to 46 countries, 6 continents and counting..

You - you MUST have a face that is recognizable in the picture and you MUST be verified. I will NOT accept you if you are not a verified member. You must book the reservation yourself. I will NOT accept reservations from your siblings, family or friends on your behalf. Like guests who clean up and fold sheets after themselves before leaving at all times.

Interests -
I love arts/galleries/museums/wine/board games/architecture/outdoors/hiking/running/theatre and can help you with directions and information on many of those topics and more.

Space -
The apartment has 1 bedroom, I full bath room, 1 living room, 1 kitchen with dining table and 1 outdoor sunny porch with a small coffee table/chairs to enjoy your coffee/bkfst. The apt is furnished in contemporary style. Free WIFI is available upon arrival.

Few complimentary Bkfst offerings -
I serve coffee/black tea, muesli and bread/butter/Jam in the mornings. You are welcome to use the kitchen if you need to cook or make your own bkfast as long as you wash your dishes. The bathroom is shared for the apt by guests and me. Also many cafes next door for bkfst. There is a bakery close by and you can get some bkst food if you wish.

Public Transportation Friendly-
The apt is accessible from the SFO and OAK airports by train. You take the BART train at SFO Intl terminal or OAK to Civic center station in the San Francisco city and switch to Muni subway lines for 3 stations hop to Castro Muni and walk up to my place. There is public transportation to all major locations in the city from my place. Two bus lines and 6 other muni subway lines near the house. I will send you a pdf document with directions once you book the place. Parking is available and free on the street between 7pm to 10am on weekdays and on weekends from 7pm on friday through 10am on Monday. There are always few spots available on the street.

The apt is on the quieter side of castro st but I do recommend that you bring ear plugs if you are super noise sensitive just in case. Apartment is on Castro street where it can be busy in the morning. Not too loud but could be sensitive for some.

I will NOT accept your request if you dont have your picture in the profile. I want to know who I am inviting home. Also, please respond with when you plan to arrive and when you plan to leave timewise on the date of request to ensure that I can work with you on the keys.

I will provide extra keys once you check in..

  • Ajay was welcoming and friendly. His response to my last minute request was speedy and positive, and his emailed instructions and notes idiot-proof. The flat is a charming spot in a great area. I had a good stay, though fleeting.

  • SF at it's best! Wunderbar unkomplizierte Kommunikation, ein interessanter, kommunikativer Gastgeber und die absolute Traumlage mitten im Castro machten unseren Aufenthalt zu einem gelungenen Erlebnis! Absolut empfehlenswert!! Thanks a lot, Ajay! :-)

  • Ajay was a wonderful host. He was very accommodating with my arrival and departures times. His apartment is very warm and homey, clean, filled with beautiful art, and located in one of the best neighbourhoods in San Francisco. Ajay welcomed me into his place and made me feel not just as a paying guest, but as a new friend in town. I highly recommend everyone to stay with Ajay while visiting San Francisco. I will definitely stay with Ajay when I come back to the city.

  • Ajay is warm and friendly, and made me feel very welcomed. His home is colourful, cosy and light. I had a really comfortable stay there. The location is superb – central but quiet and leafy. Would stay there again if I'm back in SF.

  • Ajay was beyond a great host, very helpful with suggestions on what was around in the neighborhood that interested me and even let me enjoy his great cooking over great conversation. Highly recommend to anyone! Thanks Ajay!

  • Where do I start. Ajay was the first person I have stayed with from airbnb when it comes to share accommodation as I usually only book a space just for myself. Being on a tighter budget this trip I decided it was the best option and I made the best choice in San Fran. It was a last minute decision to go to San Fran but Ajay immediately welcomed me and made my stay very comfortable, so I stayed another 2 extra days! The house is fantastic, from great art to cleanliness; everything is covered here. The location is second to none, it was perfect! I enjoyed having morning tea and chats with Ajay, who is professional, positive and inspiring. I greatly appreciated waking up to breakfast, this is something I don't think you get everywhere! There is not one thing I can say was a negative during my stay. Staying with Ajay has changed the way I will book accommodation in the future, as I can say I have made a friend in San Francisco and he is more than welcome to come stay in Melbourne with me! Thanks Ajay!

  • Ajay was an absolutely superb host who does his best to make you feel comfortable and at home within his home. An excellent conversationalist, and has many a recommendation on restaurants, sights, cafe's, etc. His place was gorgeous and a lovely place to stay in San Francisco.

  • Cool space in a great spot! This part of Castro is quieter, but it's not a far walk to where things get lively, with lots of food and entertainment options. The street parking can be a bit limiting during the day (at night it's fine, and I had no trouble getting a spot), but Ajay was able to suggest some ways to work around that, and gave me lots to work with. Good communication before and during my stay, and would be happy to be back again.

  • A great little space in a stellar area. Ajay was a wonderful host — welcoming, considerate, sophisticated, knowledgable, passionate. I hope to be back!

  • Great Host-- Ajay was very helpful with directions and parking options for me. His place was very comfortable for my night's stay and super close to where I needed to be the next day. Ajay is a warm and lovely host and I enjoyed meeting him and sharing breakfast in the morning. I loved the shower too!
