Ubud, a town in central Bali, is far removed from crowded Kuta, and is regarded as the cultural centre of Bali. It is famous as an arts and crafts hub, and much of the town and nearby villages consist of artists workshops and galleries.
Ubud has in the last years developed to be one of the major places in the world for yoga, healing, and personal growth. Or, you can just come here and enjoy the great atmosphere and all the great places to eat.
There are some remarkable architectural and other sights to be found, and a general feeling of well being to be enjoyed, all thanks to the spirit, surroundings, and climate of the place. There are many tourists attractions in and around Ubud.
How to get to the meeting point when you arrive in Ubud. The pick up point is at Alchemy cafe in Jalan Penestanan. Before coming to Jalan Penestanan you have to drive through the town centre of Ubud to Antonio Blanco museum, which is a well known museum in Ubud.
Shortly after the museum there is a crossroad where you turn sharp left up jalan Penestanan, its a short drive about 500 meters, and you will find Alchemy cafe on the left side of the road. The best is to call me to find the way. Please note. Telephone number will only show when a reservation is made.
From the airport you can come by taxi or I can also arrange with a local driver from Ubud to pick you up at the airport.
After pick up I will take you to your lodging. Which is about 500 meters into the southern part of Penestanan village along a small pathway.
If you have any questions please ask.
All the best
We are right next to beautiful ricefields, palmtrees, and lovely greens. Its quiet since we are away from the mainroad. The villa is in a Balinese village. You will see farmers and local people doing their daily activities. Since we are close to nature you can hear the sounds of birds and other animals. Such as roosters and frogs. The lodging is in an enclosed and cozy garden.
Best way to get around in Ubud is by motorbike, or bike. Its fine by foot also. The lodging is along a narrow path from the mainroad through the neighborhood and the ricefields. You can access the lodging by motorbike.
If you are a beginner on motorbike and want to use a motorbike its wise to park at the motorbike rental only 5 min. walk away. As the path is narrow and a bit tricky for a beginner. If you want to give it a try afterall, you might experience a more intimate contact with the ricefield than initially planned. At your own peril!! : )
We can help you with motorbike rental, also. If you are more skilled on motorbike, have fun and drive along the path and develop your balancing skills.

I had a great stay at Villa Sawah. Kadek, my host, was great. She takes good care of me, prepared breakfast even after i arrived late in the morning from my activities. She was very kind and makes sure that i am comfortable during my stay there.
The location was great for me. It was far from the hustle and bustle of ubud center, yet it is still near if you need to be in the center. The area is surrounded with rice paddies which is very calming and relaxing.
Kadek was very nice and answered all my questions I had before coming to Bali. This was my first trip to Ubud, Kadek made arrangements for me to have a ride from the airport to Ubud. She welcomed me and showed me the room and outdoor shower/bathroom area. I arrived at night, so the next morning she made me breakfast as she did every morning and showed me the small pool, lounging area and the deck that have a view of the rice fields. The house was further from the main road than I thought, but it was a nice walk. Kadek also would provide me with rides to my destination, even accommodating last minute requests with a smile. I stayed almost three weeks, Kadek kept my room nice and clean, changing the sheets and towels every couple of days. Every morning Kadek cleaned and swept the garden area, pool, and walk ways. She was always very happy and made a delicious breakfast everyday. The price was very good, I stayed by myself, I think the maximum people to stay in the same room and be comfortable would be two people. It is located away from Ubud central, but has many places to eat within walking distance.
We were staying in the apartment upstairs and my partners parents came to stay with us in this room down by the pool. As the pictures show, the room is very small, but it has a comfortable bed, good air con, a spacious wardrobe and is 2 steps from the beautiful garden and pool. They fell in love with the place, especially Kadek and are already planning on staying here again on their next visit to Bali. The location is excellent, the room is clean and comfortable, reliable wifi and an amazing host in Kadek who brings you fresh coffee and breakfast every morning. This place is the perfect accommodation for a short stay in Ubud.
The room is a basically a hut with a double bed and a table and wardrobe like a granny flat at the back of the house. It has a separate bathroom next to it so you have your own privacy and it is clean and quiet. The house is away from the main street and only accessible by foot or motorbike. It has a nice lush garden with mango trees and palms. Kadek was an incredible host! During my stay there, she made me beautiful breakfast with fresh fruit salad, banana pancakes and eggs. She was very attentive to my needs and offered to take me to places to get better local prices.
The house is nice and clean, but extremely small (a double bed and a closet, that´s it), and unfortunately there is no mosquito net (so we got our share of involuntary blood-donorship). The A/C is great but a bit misplaced, so the cool breeze is not well spread in the room. The bathroom (with hot water shower) is located in a separate house (very close, though). The kitchen is located on the other side, in the front of the shared compound. We got a shelf in the fridge for our stuff, but there was no water tank, so we bought one ourselves. There is a small table with stools outside the house, when raining it would be great to have a table and chairs on the inside (but no room for this). The small, shared dip pool is great (clean and fresh, only a bit cold in the water sometimes because of the shades from the beautiful mango trees). During our long stay (1 month), we had it basically to ourselves the whole time. There is also a small, shared roof terrace overlooking the rice paddies, where we enjoyed some great sunsets (and fireflies). An important thing to consider is the walking/scooter pathway (no cars) to get there. It´s very, very long and narrow (+500 metres). So you better have good wheels on your suitcases (or bring a backpack). Our host, Kadek, is lovely!!! Great service, keeps the place nice and clean and makes breakfast according to your preferences (toast, fruit salad, pancakes - we actually learned to have Nasi Goreng for breakfast). Somedays she surprised us with super fresh, super sweet mango from the trees in the garden. And she showed us how to pick and dry (and taste of course) the organic cocoa beans in the garden. Amazing!!! Next time we will most likely get a little larger house/room (for our long stays). But this place is still nice for shorter stays.
Thank you for your review and I hope you are doing well. Thank you very much for appreciating my service. It was nice to have you here. And both you, Jan and Elvira are friendly people.
I would like to make some comments on your review that you experienced the lodging as "extremely small". Because you have not mentioned that you where three people staying in a two person lodging for a month. Initially you had a contact person to preview the place for you, who also took photographs, there are also several air bnb verified photographs that shows the space clearly.
The person who previewed the cottage for you said that the Child (young teenager) would stay with you sometimes but not through the whole month and every night. Then, it obviously is a too small lodging. I accepted your booking based on the information that Elvira would stay sometimes. When, I messaged with you, you where also aware that the place is small.
I am writing this to clarify with you any misunderstandings or miscommunications. I should probably have clarified with you if Elvira was staying with you fulltime or sometimes only.
Yes, I will also get a new and better mosquito net. The terrace for the cottage is not shared. Did you experience guests staying upstairs go there?
Yes, the path to the house is not good standard, but I am more than willing to help guests with their luggage if needed and also with motorbike, if needed.
I used to provide watertank before for guests but I stopped providing it because they are heavy and difficult to bring in on motorbike. And there are plenty of small shops nearby where guests can buy inexpensive water. The closest small shop is a minute walk away.
Please, feel free to make comments on what I have written.
Again, thank you for your review.

I had a wonderful experience staying here. Kadek is so helpful, kind, and sweet. She did everything she could to make sure I had a great stay.
As for the place itself, note a few things. These were not deal breaker for me by any stretch, but they could be for you so make sure you know what you're getting yourself into. The room is the guest house in a larger villa and is physically separate from it. It's constructed in such a way that there's essentially a large opening in the roof. This means that bugs, insects, and other critters can chime in, and they most likely will. The solution is to not leave the main light on when it starts getting dark because the bugs will be attracted to it. Mostly you'll deal with some mosquitos but I had a gecko or something come in at night and nibble on a banana that I had left out. Mosquitos likely won't bother you once the AC is running but they exist, and they might bother you.
Otherwise this place is lovely, quaint, and very peaceful. Thank you again for a wonderful stay.
Thank you very much for the review.
Regarding mosquitos and bugs. To guests coming in the future. To avoid any problems it is important to use the air con, keep the door closed as much as possible from late afternoon and through the night, I also have an electric anti mosquito plug, available. I have also put up a mosquito net now in case there is a problem with mosquitos and bugs.

Kadek was a brilliant host! So friendly, she made us a great breakfast every day and showed us around a little bit.
the place is nice, it has a pool, good view, private bathroom. The house seems to have children's paintings and poems all around it which is a bit strange but nothing bad.
definitely worth staying there
