As always, staying with Kathleen was great. It has become my home away from home when I go to New York. It has everything I need and more. Kathleen could not be more friendly and helpful. There is a superb restaurant close by with great prices and amazing food and just steps from the subway station. I have my own refrigerator, microwave, and the makings for breakfast, flat screen TV, WiFi, and a very comfortable bed. Safe and interesting neighborhood.
Kathleen's house is now my preferred place to stay in NYC. Here's why:
--Kathleen is friendly, kind, caring, and very thoughtful, and lives onsite. She gifted me with bottled water and english muffins on arrival, and oriented me to the nuances of her home. She also--remarkably and wonderfully--accompanied me to the street at the end of my stay at around 5:30 am to be sure that I was able to catch a cab to the airport (she had also offered to call a car for me).
--The room in which I stayed reflected this same caring thoughtfulness. The mattress was superb, and Kathleen provided a microwave and small refrigerator, tv, plates and silverware, sugar and jam, and a water pitcher. A small umbrella was hung from the doorknob. One could live there for an extended period without having to go to restaurants (market across the street).
--The house is gorgeous, a big old Brooklyn brownstone. I found it fascinating to live in the house, and to enjoy the space. The shared bathroom was spacious and clean.
--There is professional cleaning on Tuesdays. The home was well-maintained and nice to be in.
--The neighborhood is safe and incredibly vibrant. Just all kinds of street life, cafes, bookstores, lots of good stuff within an easy walk including the Brooklyn Public Library and Prospect Park. Subways are a 10 minute or so walk, about 30 minutes ride to Manhattan.
--Only downside is that the room in which I stayed had a lot of street noise. I wore earplugs pretty much whenever I was in the room.
as always kathleen is a gracious hostess + accomodating to all my needs---love her home which i consider my home away from home now that i have stayed with her several times
Kathleen made me feel welcome, first, by accepting my late arrival (11:30pm) nicely. Kathleen is a gracious person. Although the room is small (mostly taken-up by the big bed) it had everything I needed as a base of operations while I visited my son in Park Slope. The location is convenient to many businesses and activities in Park Slope, also to Metro stops. This old brownstone has history and has had renovations that make it comfortable.
Kathleen was kind, patient, friendly, and responsive. Her brownstone place in Brooklyn is beautiful, and it was very clean and quiet. It's also very close to subway stops with lines that take you into Manhattan. Great place!
