If your perception of Iceland is beautiful wild nature in different colors, deep and mysterious lakes and wild Icelandic horses running side by side passing hoards of sheep, you are not far away from the experience that a stay in this beautiful timber house will give you.
Located on the outskirts of Reykjavik beside Lake Elidavatn the house has a great location for those who are on a self-drive holiday and wish to experience the city of Reykjavik and surrounding countryside. It is also close to the main road to the Golden Circle and beyond.
The house has 2 double rooms and one single room with closet space in all three rooms perfect for a large family or a group of friends travelling together. The social point in the house is the large conservatory and patio area where you can relax in the evening.
All amenities are close by including swimming pool, supermarket and gym. A proud Icelandic tradition is to visit the local public bath and go to the hot pot where you will meet all generations.
There is a horse stall connected to the house and horse riding can be arranged from January to June.
Beautiful house is a serene location just outside Reykjavik. It rained most of the time whilst we were there so we didn't get full use of the lovely deck or BBQ but the house was very cosy for rainy evenings. We didn't get to meet Thora but the process of getting the keys was very smooth. I would visit this home again.
Upon arriving, Thora kindly greeted us with a beautiful breakfast spread in the glass patio overlooking the gorgeous landscape surrounding her property. The house is decorated exquisitely with fine furnishings and unique, one of a kind treasures that Thora has collected over the years from her world travels. Every morning I would wake up to a breathtaking view, enjoy a cup of coffee relaxing on the patio, and watch Thora's horses frolicking in the horizon.
Thora is a gracious hostess, very helpful, considerate, kind, and stunningly beautiful. We look forward to returning to her home again and again for years to come. I would recommend this home to all travelers who are seeking an authentic, luxurious, and relaxed atmosphere - perfect for both families, couples, and singles alike. The location is only 10-15 minutes drive from Reykjavik's city center which is very convenient and very easy to find. We love this home, the owner, and overall had a magical experience!
Thora has a wonderful home, and is quite friendly, helpful and kind. She prepared a wonderful breakfast for us during our stay. Would highly recommend to any traveler looking for a one of a kind experience while in Iceland.
