About this listing
Our 2 bedroom open plan cottage overlooks the rainforest with mature gardens and a private creek with swimming hole. The cottage is adorned in handmade mosaics and is on the edge of the national parks rainforest, regularly visited by cassowaries
The master bedroom has a king size bed and verandah looking out onto the forest so that you wake up to stunning views every morning
Surrounded by birds, butterflies and wildlife, Moo Bay Muse is a beautifully decorated eco-cottage in the heart of the Daintree rainforest in Cow Bay next to the Great Barrier Reef.
Purpose built as a place to rest, relax and unwind, the Muse sleeps a maximum of 4 adults (or 2 adults and three children). It has has an airy open plan design to let the house and its guests breathe, with four verandahs allowing guests to enjoy views of mature gardens and ancient forest from every room.
The Muse has one master bedroom and one loft bedroom, both with verandahs. The rooms have king size beds and the loft can also be made up as 2 king single beds on request. It also has a semi outdoor shower (connected to the house, but overlooking the forest), full kitchen, dining room, outside dining, bbqs and fire pit for outdoor cooking.
The original owner and builder of the Muse was a landscape gardener and mosaic artist so the house is filled with beautiful artistic touches and mosaic masterpieces (the reason we fell in love with the place when we were guests) peppered through out the house and hidden around every corner.
Guests escape to the Muse to experience an eco-friendly lifestyle with the cottage run on solar power and a rain fed water supply. You can enjoy the peace and tranquility of the Daintree in this private retreat which enjoys year round gentle sea breezes. Explore the surrounding rainforest alive with abundant birds and wildlife.
The property backs onto world heritage listed national park and has a private creek at the rear of the house which meanders its way through the property with several small "bathing" holes to cool down in. Deserted and beautiful Cow Bay Beach is nearby.
The Daintree Rainforest is one of the oldest remaining rainforests in the world and remains unspoilt despite the increasing pressures of encroaching civilisation. It is home to thousands of plant species and is alive with a diverse selection of native fauna including the Cassowary. Cassowaries, rainforest monitors and lizards, several types of tree frogs as well as many species of birds and butterflies live in the forest that surrounds the Muse...and on a recent trip a biologist found an endangered species of frog - the mist frog - thriving in our creek ;-)
We have been named one of Trip Advisor's top vacation rentals for the past three years with a five star rating across 30 reviews. You can see what previous guests think of the Muse on Trip Advisor
*The Muse is a pet friendly property - but please advise you are bringing them when you book.
When visiting Cow Bay please tread lightly as the Daintree wilderness is an important environmental asset
The Muse has a large selection of books, CD's, and DVD's as well as an IPod dock; camp-fire, gas hot-plate and weber BBQ; guitar, snorkelling gear, kayak, four bicycles, incense, candles and more.
Moo Bay Muse is close to a wide range of activities and adventures. Guests can easily access rainforest and wildlife walks, swim in freshwater creeks, snorkel on the Great Barrier Reef, horse ride along deserted white sand beaches, sea kayak to nearby Snapper island, cruise on the Daintree river in search of crocodiles, birds, butterflies and other wildlife, 'surf' the jungle canopy and have the chance to see cassowaries in the wild.
Other Things to Note
The things I love most about Moo Bay Muse is the outdoor shower overlooking the forest, the butterflies dancing in the garden, the creek to cool off in and the wide variety of birdsong throughout the day.
We'd love you to come and experience the Muse - the cottage where time stands still. Please treat it with respect, as if it were you own ;-)
Moo Bay lounge area leading out to kitchen and dining room. We leave all the doors open so that the forest comes to life in the house
