The easiest way to the house is by car service, which you can secure immediately as you depart the airport terminal.
Also, note, any guests who do not check out promptly by 11a will be charged a $20 late fee for every hour they are late. Unfortunately, we need to implement this now as many people are not honoring the check-out times and our time that we need to get the room and house ready for the next guests. We ask that everyone please be mindful of the check out times so we can be considerate of the next guests. We would be happy to hold luggage for you if your flight takes off later on in the day, but we absolutely need to have the room vacant by 11a. Thanks!
We stayed 2 nights in alissa's apartment with 3 members of my family. The place was clean and conform to the pictures. The kitchenette is really practical and the bathroom was quite large for a studio. There is one double bed, very comfy, and a strong air mattress where you can have a good night sleep (it's still an air mattress but its quality is good and it's not that far from a real bed, sincerely).
We came here for the price and the proximity to the ferry, and to have a place to crash when our feet were to sored by our endless walks in NYC :) (not to have a luxury new york cottage to spend all day long in) : we were not disapointed. The neighboorhood is calm and safe even if you come back late at night, the ferry is about 15 minutes walk from the apartment and it really changes your perception of NYC city. Alissa answers quickly to every questions and all the towels and bath sheets are furnished.
To conclude : If you want a good value for money studio which is practical, simple, and cheap, this is honestly the place for you.
The host did not welcome us. We called her the day before because we had an emergency, and she never called us back. The bed and sofa bed were really uncomfortable to sleep, and the air conditioner did not cool the whole apartment. The wifi was going on and off frequently, and the people who leaves on top were really loud. Really disappointed. I wont recommend this apartment to other people.
The place was OK, it is indeed close to the pier to take the ferry to Manhattan and it was free so that was nice.
What I didn't like is that the the exterior of the House looked bad, like an old haunted house. But that only the exterior the inside was OK. I didn't like that the place is a basement and this was not clear on the description, this means people walking over you and making noise. The place in general was clean but on all top corners there were spider webs and as consequence there were spiders a killed three large ones.
Overall it wasn't a completely bad experience but it was far from what I have expected from a place of 150/night.
It was the perfect place to stay while visiting New York. 15 minute walk to the ferry followed by a 25 minute ride, from there easy access to the subway and buses. It is a basement apartment with everything you require for a short stay. You do need to walk up a steep flight of stairs so that might be a consideration for some travellers. As stated in some other reviews the ceiling is low and might be an issue for someone around 6 feet tall. We were four adults and it was comfortable for our needs. We were out the door at 8 in the morning and returning around 10 pm so we didn't use the apartment for anything other than sleeping. It is a basement apartment so it's a little humid with not much natural light, but it all depends how you will be using the space, for us it was perfect.
The listing was very accurate. This location is very close to the free ferry into Manhattan. Finding parking on the street is typically very easy. There were many places to eat and grab groceries within walking distance. Alissa was was very responsive with any questions we had. Overall very good experience and would stay again to visit NYC.
We really enjoyed our stay on Staten Island in Alissa's airbnb! The key was waiting for us when we arrived. She texted us with clear arrival instructions and was quick to respond when we had a question. It is a cozy basement apartment within a couple of blocks of New York City harbor. Taking the Staten Island ferry into the city in the morning and returning at night while enjoying a beautiful view of the NYC skyline and statue of liberty made our visit complete. We had no problem finding parking when we arrived, and after that we just walked and took the ferry. It looked like it could be difficult to find a parking spot at certain times of the night, but driving is not required unless you have difficulty walking uphill for a block or so. The ceilings are low, but that was no problem for us since we are all under 5'11". We loved the neighborhood and enjoyed eating at a local pub. If we ever return to New York, we would love to stay there again. Thank you, Alissa!
