Rip was a kind and considerate host throughout my stay - including leaving me a bagel for breakfast on my birthday! He also came with me one night to show me round the area and was full of information about the city. We also had some nice chats about books! The room is lovely, very clean and everything you need by way of towels etc provided. The area was also great for getting around easily. The 20 block walk to the Momofuku milk bar is definitely worth it...
Rip is real gentleman and staying at his place was a charm! I highly recommend his charming single bedroom, espcially to female single travelers. It feels cosy and warm, offering you some rest from the buzzling city, and Rip's is a host completely respecting your privacy.
As we found out we were both fans of jazz and swing music, we enjoyed it while chatting in the morning.
Last, if you are a runner, I recommend going to Roosevelt Island (run to the Gondola and take it!), a NYC secret! It makes it for a small 10k round trip.
Rip is a great host ever I had! His place is always kept clean and the location is very nice to go to anywhere. A guest is given a private room with comfortable bed, towels, a desk, AC, and wifi.
Besides that his place is very good, his personality is also nice. We always talked what we did on each day, and we sometimes shared our foods. He really liked Japanese bread! He also taught me English and encouraged me to study more.
Over all, I would recommend all of you to stay at his place because of his nice place and his wonderful personality!!!
When I come back to Japan, I will stay at his place for sure!
Richard was very considerate, kind and flexible, ready to offer advice. The apartment is well located, in a calm street, and the room is tiny but nice.
If AirBnB gave out awards for being the best host Richard would get one in a heartbeat. Richard is very nice to be around, he knows how to make his guests feel comfortable. The place is indeed charming and perfectly located. You will most certainly enjoy your room and the quiet nights - quite a commodity in NYC. I highly recommend staying with Richard but you should know that you cannot not treat this accommodation as a hotel, Richard is a very sociable guy and you'll enjoy interesting conversations with him.
It’s great to be introduced to the big city: you start feeling much more comfortable in it, provided with the tips of the resident. Richard gave great advice on everything: starting from the airport-location transfer to the places-to-visit.
The flat is very cozy and you’ll feel like a real New Yorker in it. The location is amazing: it’s a calm street, so you won’t have trouble sleeping. On the other hand, it’s just in the heart of Manhattan and perfect for exploring both Downtown and Uptown.
Richard is a fantastic host! Awesome and so laid-back!! Definitely worked around my tough time getting there and his place is amazing. Charming is an understatement - it's a great coordination of space and feels amazingly cozy. I'll definitely stay there again due to it's location, feel, and great host.
Great host! Very clean and convivial, lots of fun. Great neighborhood, and building is a little more modern than most walkups.
Richard was a great host for my stay. He has incredible insight to NYC and how to get around. The unit and building was newly renovated in the last few years and is clean. The room is a standard size for NY and the twin bed was comfortable and nice. There is an air conditioner in the room. Richard's place is close to 33rd st. subway station and there are some good restaurants in the area. There are plenty of cabs on the streets nearby, and I never noticed street noise while staying.
