L'appartamento era grazioso ed originale. La nostra ospite è stata sempre molto gentile e disponibile quando ne abbiamo avuto bisogno. Il quartiere è molto tranquillo, anche la sera, ed è in prossimità sia della metro che del NY Police Department.
I spent a week at Cindy's lovely house in Harlem. Living in Harlem was my dream of mine since quite a while and I wanted to be in a house with character owned by someone who is actually there and not just renting a place. I loved everything, the whole house, the apartment, the neighborhood and last but not least, Cindy. She was always there for me no matter what I needed, answering my questions, giving me informations or just some sugar for my coffee. The apartment gives full privacy although it is in the house, it is spotless, lovely and misses nothing. The best part after a long and tiring day if walking through NYC was Bailey, the beagle, greeting me as soon as I entered the house and the big jar of candies and chocolates waiting inviting before I walked up the steps. Absolutely unforgettable experience, thank you Cindy. I will be back and there is no other place I want to be in NYC than your welcoming house.
We had a good time there. The place is great for a couple. Cindy and her husband were very kind and welcoming hosts. We loved the teas, candies and muffins as well as the apartment location and Harlem itself. The subway is three squares close and the 125nd st has lots of stores and some restaurants. Thanks Cindy for getting and keeping our mail orders. Unfortunately we couldn't see the garden. It is definitely recommended.
The house was amazing, as well as the room where we staid for one week. The area was very nice and very easy to reach the station. Cindy was a perfect host as she was both available, generous and respected our privacy.
To be recommended, definitely.
Cindy greeted us upon arrival (with home-made muffins!), and everything was as described. The apartment was very conformtable Cyndy was responsive to any issue that needed to be resolved.
The neighborhood was great. I did'nt know what to expect before getting there, but it turned out to be a perfect. Very close to the subway & buses.
I would definitely recommend it!
Again, Mariano and his father were so gracious! I felt so bad about the hot water issue. We didn't realize the [spanking new!!!]hot water heater had gone off because we were gone most of the day! Our sincere apologies. We hope all our guests will always tell us immediately if there's a problem, as Mariano did, because we absolutely want everyone to have a pleasant experience here!
The apt is a little small but has everything you need.
We enjoyed staying here.
If you think this room is small then you should look at her other apt, its bigger.
There is 3 subway lines in walking distance which we found very convenient.
Its also close to everything in Harlem. We didnt get the chance to enjoy the garden that everyone has written about. It was closed everytime we went out.
Cindys pets are very sweet and didnt bother us at all.
Cindy was a great host and very helpful. Thank you for everything
Actually, I think the garden was unlocked most of the time! It is almost always--it's just that people close the gate, but it's not usually locked in the summertime! Alas!!
And, you know, this apt is actually bigger in square feet--and the bathroom & kitchen are definitely bigger than the other apt--but because it's two rooms it feels maybe smaller. Also, the other apt has that huge cathedral window. It's all about perception!;-)

My husband, Haja, and I, are educators, activists, artusts. We are social justuce-minded, and are active in our community. The mission of the grassroots organization--Project Harmony, Inc-- which we founded over 25 years ago is to help ourselves and others cultivate an awareness of our community, our environment, and all life and to promote justice for all.. Our mantra is "respect and care for the community of life." We manage a community garden-park, The JD Wilson Memorial Garden, just across the street from our historic Harlem brownstone. The "garden" is host to numerous programs and events for community members and anyone from anywhere who might want to join us.
Cindy is an award-winning poet and writer; Haja is a radio host on Harlem 411 at WHCR, 90.3 FM, "The voice of Harlem." He is active with numerous community organizations and is also a portrait artist. We have three cats only one of which guests are ever likely to see/meet. We also have a recently acquired rescue "Beagle" a sweet little guy--but sometimes noisey! He's learning!
