About this listing
This charming, historic bungalow is located in the up and coming inner city neighborhood of Capitol View/Sylvan Hills (also known affectionately by local musical artists such as Outkast - S.W.A.T.S., just a 3 minute walk to Marta ( Oakland City Station, 3 stops south of downtown). Driving? We am just 15 minutes north of the airport and 5 minutes south if downtown. Also super convenient to I-75/I-85 and I-20. Relax and recharge in this well appointed spa-like private room with a very comfortable bed dressed in quality cotton linens, spa robe and slippers. Guests enjoy the convenience of a having their very own vanity pedestal sink in each of the private bedrooms, while the main bathrooms are shared. Free parking, wifi, and laundry are always available to guests. The combination of high ceilings, spacious airy rooms, original architectural details, clean modern designs mixed with antiques, hand crafted items, natural elements, and hardwood floors. I am easy going, really enjoy hosting and just want every guest to have the best experience possible. There are 3 large, sweet, clean and extremely cute and friendly dogs and charming young gentleman named Forrest that help me co-host. I have a few houses that I spend my time between, so when booking, you will be staying at one of them, all have the same general amenities and decor.
Neighborhood is strictly residential, so you won't find any shops or cafes within walking distance, but to hop on Marta is so convenient. We do have a great Jamaican restaurant JamRock, that delivers(usually) and also yummy pizza from Bakari's
free WIFI, backyard with horseshoes, grill, hammock, veggie and herb garden, dogs for walking, 2 bikes, and nice kitchen. Free street parking all the time.
Have lived in the neighborhood since 1999. Love how undeveloped it is. No traffic jams, no one is in a hurry, people take time to say hello and chat for a bit. It's old school, dirty south, although gentrification is surely inevitable :( since it's so close to downtown/MARTA/airport/highways, and the housing stock is desirable, comprised of mainly Craftsman Bungalows built in the 20's and 30's. Locals are super friendly and have so much love in their hearts, even though most live a very hard life, just struggling to make ends meet. Folks are just keepin it real around here, SO opposite of the upscale areas like Buckhead.
From the Oakland City Marta Station, exit the Lee St side. Walk though the bus area and out the pedestrian gate. Cross over Lee St, and you will find yourself walking east on Dill Ave. Our house is the first on the left, should be a few cars, maybe an old Ford pick up, a very old yellow Mercedes.
Smoking outside in very back patio ONLY
NO PETS OR SMALL CHILDREN
Please keep belongings in your room when leaving house
ALWAYS make sure the back gate is closed
**you’re welcome to give dog treats whenever, as long as they sit!!**
Please be considerate when coming home late, because of wood floors, certain shoes are especially loud (heels, hard souls, etc.)
Please be considerate of others and keep noise levels to a minimum (cell phone calls--door closed or outside, TV/music--door closed or headphones)
Kitchen appliances are available for your use, but PLEASE treat with care, especially knives
ALWAYS USE COASTERS
VERY IMPORTANT Make sure the shower curtain LINER is completely inside the tub, leaving the floor to ceiling draperies OUTSIDE the tub
NO STRANGERS unless pre approved.
**LOGICALLY, keep your valuables stashed and out of sight”
THANK YOU, AND I HOPE YOUR STAY IS AS PLEASURABLE AS MY EXPERIENCE HOSTING YOU
Tracy was very easy to reach and stayed in touch. Even though we weren't able to stay here due to an emergency, I would confidently re-book this place. We were planning for a very late arrival and Tracy was flexible and happy to let us check-in as late as we needed.
I had another nice stay. I ended up staying in the crash pad since all the private rooms were booked. I enjoyed it and got to hang with Tracy and her dogs who always give me lots of love. I'll be staying here when I visit again! :-)
I enjoyed 11 weeks in Tracys nice house. Everything was very good. There is a nice yard with a grill. Tracy was very committed. There are three lovely dogs, especially the youngest one is very adorable.
It doesn't look like the best neighborhood, but I never felt unsafe. I talked a few times to Tracys neighbor. All people on street greeted friendly.
I had always very interesting roommates and good conversations.
Conclusion: This place is highly recommended.
Our stay was perfect. We arrived late but everything was ready for us which made pulling in late a snap. The house was so cute and well thought out. I would highly recommend staying here.
Great home to stay, I def recommend this place, it met all my expectations and above.
I would def stay here again.
Tracy has a lovely home! We really liked our room that we stayed at for a few nights. Our room was tidy. The kitchen and the laundry were available for house guests! Her dogs are so adorable too :)
Our stay with Tracy went very well. The house was tidy and nicely decorated. We felt right at home.
The place is about a 5-10 minute drive to midtown, which was convenient for us. We never had a problem with noise or anything.
Tracy also knows the area very well and was able to recommend several places to go for food, drinks, or fun.

About the Host, Vintage Bungalow
Easy going, creative types. We like cooking, entertaining, local, organic food, yoga, good wine, lots of good music, art, film, animals, nature, sailing, the ocean, traveling, calm and tranquil spaces, and try to find beauty in all things. We love to have fun and not take life too seriously. We enjoy hosting and meeting new friends from all cultures and backgrounds and don't really follow the mainstream of American culture much at all. We love to buy houses and fix them up. We have quite a few places where we host guests and try to be as accommodating as possible. When staying in a private room, you will be in a room in one of our houses, most likely, there will be a couple of dogs in the house as well, so animal lovers usually love staying with us. Our properties are in lower income neighborhoods where real, local ATLiens live. You won't see many tourists around, mostly, just typical working class folks who love to sit on the front porch and unwind as part of Southern culture. We always say hello to each other in passing, so please be friendly and observe our friendly custom when encountering locals, they will appreciate the gesture. Because we are in a lower income neighborhood, we can offer more upscale accommodations to travelers on a budget. Also, for travelers relying on public transportation, we are on the Marta line conveniently situated halfway between the Airport and downtown. Our rates are very reasonable and not subject to negotiation. Rates, terms, and policies are fixed and applied equally to all guests. We look forward to hosting you one day soon.
