The Space

Hello

Thanks for considering our apartment and hope it might be what you are looking for to enjoy your stay in this lovely city

This is a contemporary Design Loft, located in a classic building from the 1940s in the center of the historical old city. A true sanctuary in the bustle and heat of the Caribbean gem that is Cartagena de Indias.

The loft is a romantic getaway oasis with a comfortable queen size real bed, large closet,

We are an easy walk to all points within the old city from the Santa Clara to the Santa Theresa to the walls to all churches, restaurants, and sights. Though the best thing to do is just wander the streets!

The apartment being in the only tall building in old Cartagena, and with large floor to ceiling windows, enjoys a fabulous view to the sea and the charming ceramic tile rooftops of the surrounding colonial era houses.

KITCHEN & BATHROOM
Gas stove, toaster oven, fridge, coffee maker, good pots & pans, all utensils, blender......
Large bathroom with full tub and shower; hot water and solid pressure! also top of the line toilet.

AMENITIES
- 2 Ceiling Fans
- 2 Floor fans
- Free WIFI
- All pillows, bed sheets, cover and towels are included
- Hot Water
- Washer
- Iron & Board
- Sound system with Bluetooth capabilities

We receive many questions about our not having an AC unit. I hope that this helps explain our choice.

We had a desire to maintain our body at a temperature that corresponds comfortably with the surroundings. Whenever we stayed in a place with AC we found that the drastic changes between the cold inside and the hot outside invariably led to us getting 'summer colds'. We have gone with the traditional Caribbean method and have designed the apartment to stay relatively cool due to:
1. North Facing & Never Receiving Direct Sun
2. Large Windows
3. Four Fans (2 Ceiling, a Standing and an HVF Tower)

NEIGHBORHOOD:

The apartment is in a FANTASTIC PRIME LOCATION, the neighborhood is packed with all sort of restaurants, cafes, bars and shopping but on a street that still remains quite at night.
Located next to the University of Cartagena, makes the block very lively during the day with street vendors selling delicious fruits, fresh coconut water, and yummy cheese arepas (corn patties).

  • This Loft is ideal for a couple to spend some days in Cartagena. We loved the central location and the design. We just regret to choose an apartment without an AC, as it is getting hot in Cartagena!
We knew that this apartment has no AC and thought we will be OK with that!
    Everything else was fantastic!

  • Ondina and Ethan were extremely prompt and friendly. The apartment was stylish, spacious, and centrally located. It really elevated our overall stay in Cartagena. Thank you!

  • We spent three nights in this beautifully designed and perfectly located loft in the old town. We spent the previous three nights in a fancy hotel with all the amenities, but my girlfriend and I both agreed that we preferred our stay in the loft as it was a much more authentic experience. The huge windows and steady ocean breeze was as wonderful as the birds that sing to you as you get up in the morning.

    I recommend this place highly.

  • Still thinking about this place and the open windows facing the sea... Perfect spot to explore this city and the hosts are very responsive

  • The apartment was even cooler than in the pictures! Sadly we were only able to stay there for one night before our flight the next day. Finding the place and checking in was a breeze and the map they left was very helpful. The apartment itself was clean and beautiful. The area was very safe and having the 24 hour door person was very nice. Also, the shower had hot water, which was super nice after weeks of cold or lukewarm showers. I would definitely stay at this apartment again if I was back in Cartagena!

  • Overall, our stay was great. But, the apartment hasn't been kept up and was missing many small touches that I would have expected for the price.

    Pros:
    - beautifully designed apartment
    - convenient location in the north of the walled city
    - safe building and area
    - host was very responsive and helpful
    - hot water!! (not standard Cartagena)

    Cons:
    - the apartment was just a little run-down compared to the pictures:
    -- tub didn't work
    -- stained towels and sheets
    -- kitchen not well cleaned
    -- etc.

  • What an amazing place to stay. There is real magic about staying in this loft in the old city. It's perfect and easy to fall in love with. Definitely recommend it!

  • Great view. Very chic decor. Coolest bathroom ever. Good location within old city. Super safe. However, it was very hot without the AC and no screens on the windows to keep out bugs. Finally the rest of the building is not as modern and updated as the unit.

Host is incredibly cool and understanding. They accommodated us fully.

  • Beautifully designed space in an ideal location. Plenty of restaurants, sights and beautiful colonial architecture just out the door. 24 hour doormen added to the sense of safety and they were really nice guys to boot.

Ethan was highly responsive when we needed to talk to him.

The only thing to consider is the lack of air conditioning. If you're sensitive to heat this will be an issue.

  • The location was great and the loft itself was very nice. Easy walk to tons of really fun things to see and do.
