The Space

'Sandwood' is a striking Scandinavian Styled wooden house in the small Highland village of Heaste. Situated 100m above sea level we enjoy unsurpassed views of the mainland hills of Knoydart, Loch Eishort and the Sleat peninsula, with the island of Rum completing the panorama.

This light and airy house is less than 2 years old, features under floor heating and is insulated to a high standard. Large windows abound to capitalize on the wonderful scenery. The interior has an eclectic mix of furnishings with works of art by local artists and Sally and Rob themselves.

We are 5 miles along a single track road from Broadford where there are restaurants, tourist information, supermarket,petrol/diesel. bank and post office.

Both the guest rooms are on the upper floor and have King size double beds. They are light and airy with stunning views across to Rum and the mainland hills.Rooms have tea and coffee making facilities, wifi, cd player/docking station.

Our breakfasts are a feast of local and home made food. You can try our home made bread, fresh eggs from our hens, local honey and black pudding from the near by Isle of Lewis.

  • There is definitely something special about Sally and Robs might be all the sheep and white horses you pass by on the single track road leading to the place, it might be the unbelievable views from the back yard, or it might be the overall charming aspect of the B&B experience here...but what really won me over is when their springer spaniel named Watson brought both of us a welcome rock and dropped it in the car when we arrived :) (I hope you don't mind Sally, we did keep it as a souvenir!)

Bottom line: you will not be disappointed by booking your stay here, our only regret is that we didn't stay longer!

  • Staying with Rob and Sally was probably our favorite part of our entire vacation. Their house is beautiful, comfortable, and has incredible views of the Isle of Skye. We felt right at home with them. The breakfasts were delicious, the conversation was enjoyable, and the tea time was perfect. We loved playing with their dog and cuddling their cat. I would go back and stay with them in a heartbeat.

  • This is indeed a special place. I cannot say enough. I truly enjoyed meeting our
hosts, Sally and Rob (and Watson, the dog). The house is immaculate, beautifully decorated by the couple with their own art as well as many astounding natural
artifacts, each with a story. They are so knowledgeable about the countryside and simply delightful. And, my friend could not stop talking about Sally's home made bread. I highly recommend Art House. I guess that's pretty obvious. I feel
as though we've made some true friends in Scotland.

  • There's not much I can say that other's haven't said already!

Staying with the delightful Sally and Rob in their beautiful home is a classic BnB experience. An immaculate and charmingly designed home, wonderful breakfasts, and warm/interesting hosts who quickly felt like old friends.

We truly do hope to return again - thanks so much, Sally and Rob!

  • We had a fantastic stay at the Art House! The house itself is beautiful, and in the most perfect location imaginable, with gorgeous views of the hills and ocean from all directions. Sally and her husband were very friendly, fun to talk to, and made us feel completely at home.

  • We had a fantastic stay with Sally and Rob over the weekend. They made us feel incredibly welcome and we really enjoyed the coffees and chats that we shared. The B&B is in a beautiful spot with great views across the lochs and inside is just as good! Our room was great with stunning views, a very comfy bed and everything you could need. The breakfasts that Sally and Rob provide are absolutely delicious - there was lots of choice and were happy to do it at any time you like which is great when you want to have a bit more of a lazy morning. I think i'm going to be making the whisky porridge again for my partner! Sally and Rob provided us with lots of recommendations for sights to see and places to eat in Skye - we found this insider knowledge to be really useful in making sure we made the most of our short time here. All in all a fantastic little break away and we would highly recommend the Art House B&B if you were ever in Skye.

  • Thanks Sally and Rob for a relaxing and enjoyable stay. We loved the small road your house is on, and the view from our room was amazing! I can see by everyone loves your dog! We're going to get our own springer spaniel when we get back home!
    Thanks again.

  • We had a wonderful stay with Sally and Rob. The house was new and modern, and kept clean. The views from their house was absolutely amazing. The house overlooks the mountains and sea, and pictures just don't do it justice. We enjoyed the breakfast and cookies, but really enjoyed having tea and conversation about the island, life and current events with both of them. We would highly recommend staying with them. A bonus is that the hosts are really knowledgeable of the island and areas to visit. We will definitely miss Watson the dog - our toddler really loved playing with him and talked about him for days after.

I am originally from Kent in the south of England but have lived on the Isle of Skye for over 20 years. It's on Skye that I met my husband Rob and where we brought up our two boys. We are hands on people - always making and creating! Decorating, drawing painting and collage, cooking and gardening fo myself. For Rob wood work, boat building, walking and climbing.
