NYC MIDTOWN STUDIO - U.N. AREA

Apartment - Entire home/apt · East 50th Street, New York, NY 10022, United States

The Space

If you are looking for a safe and clean hub to explore the Manhattan, you have found your gem. It is on a smaller side but has everything you need. The apartment has a queen bed in a really small bedroom and a pullout love seat with a real mattress in the living room. So it can comfortably sleep three people.
The location is superbe. It sits on the corner of 2nd avenue in the 50ies in Midtown East close to United Nations Headquarters. The streets are lively at all times, packed with trendy restaurants and bars. Subway lines are around the corner and you can comfortably walk to 5th avenue, Central Park or 42nd street.
The apartment itself is in a original New York brownstone building, beautifully renovated with brand new kitchen and bathroom. The touch of old New York can be felt here with antique details still in place and the original brick wall. Brand new kitchen with stainless steel appliances, cable TV, internet and combo washer/dryer in the unit.
I provide high cotton-count bedsheets for all guests, blankets, towels, hairdryer, liquid soap, toilet paper, dish washing detergent, iron and ironing board. You should bring your own toiletries or can buy them in a near-by drug store that has a huge selection of anything you can think of and is open 24 hours.

  • We stayed for a weekend, and the accommodations were clean and as described. Very conveniently located. Would definitely recommend for other travelers.

  • Very good location. Apartment is exactly like the picture. Kitchen in new, bathroom is renovated too. The only 2 things that are not very positive is the noise and the bed, but I would definetely give it a second chance.

  • Clean, wonderful apartment, in a great location - my parents had a great time in Jay's place, and they would definitely come back!

    September 2013
  • I had a fantastic time at Jay's apartment. The apartment was well within reach of some great pubs, shopping and all the amenities necessary for a smooth overseas stay.

The highlight is definitely the balcony- I'm a smoker and had a great time simply people watching the street below and the goings on at second avenue, just down from the apartment.

The apartment itself was clean, well furnished and in an extremely safe neighbourhood. A subway station was close by and during check-in and check-out, while I never met Jay, he was extremely accessible and understanding of alternative arrangements when they arose.

I would recommend Jay's place to anyone.

  • Excellent apartment on a superb location. The place is is exactly as described: not big but very functional and well maintained. The location can't hardly be much better, walking distance to everything and lots of restaurants and grocery stores nearby. It was hot and the air conditioner worked perfectly fine, there is also a fan.

We were very happy with this place and I highly recommended it to anyone who seeks to get a real New York living experience in Manhattan.

  • The pictures of the studio on the airbnb website made the apartment look larger than it actually was. In general, the studio is in good condition with the exception of the following:
    1. The bed is quite uncomfortable and there was no fitted sheet to cover the mattress and the 'quilt' cover was a little funk. The bed does not have a headboard. Also, if you lean against the drape behind the be it falls down..this happened constantly.
    2. The apartment ddi not provide any soap bars, shampoos or hair conditioners and the shower curtain is not well secured.
    3. The owner did not provide a set of simple to use operating instructions for the washer/dryer combination so when i washed clothes I couldn't figure out how to get the dryer to work.
    4. The studio is in an excellent location with plenty of restaurants, shopping (food) and easy access to transportation. If you're going across town you can take the M50 bus.
    5. When the WiFi went down one day Jay was responsive in having someone reboot it.
All in all, and comparing this experience with other AirBnb stays I have had I would rate it below average and would not recommend.

  • Excellent apartment. Very well located, with many good restaurants and shops just around the corner. The apartment is exactly as described and all the furniture is new.
The only thing I would suggest Jay is to invest in some very good pillows, which are important if you sleep more than 2/3 nights in the same place and the ones over there are those cheap and hard ones.
Jay was very kind and helpful, even suggesting good restaurants nearby. The early check in was a very welcomed plus.
Would definitely stay again and recommend to friends.

  • The apartment was clean, appropriately furnished, and extremely well located. Communication with Jay prior to arrival was straightforward and I was welcomed by one of his associates upon arrival, despite my flight having been delayed for 3 hours.

As other reviews have mentioned, the place can get noisy, especially with the A/C on.

A few cons: the microwave wasn't working and the sheets, although washed, had some stains.

Finally, I believe one of Jay's associates visited the apartment the day prior to my last to drop a set of keys but omitted to lock the door after he/she left, which was quite unfortunate. Fortunately, my stuff was left intact.

  • Jay's apartment was located in a convenient part of Manhattan, just steps away from numerous tourist destinations. We stayed there for a week and found there were plenty of excellent restaurant's and cafe's nearby. The apartment was a nice alternative to a hotel and had all the amenities one would need. We would highly recommend the apartment to anyone looking for a place to stay in the heart of Manhattan.

  • We had a wonderful experience staying at our location It was just a few steps away from the NATIONS CAFE which my husband and son ate at least six times, saying the breakfasts were "great."
I had an emergency dental need. I was able to take a short walk to United Nations Plaza for a good dentist.
Jay suggested taking the U.N. tour, not something I would have immediately thought of, it was wonderful. Maybe one of the highlights of our trip. And that is saying a lot since we did so many amazing things.
Whatever challenges we encountered: shower not draining, and difficulty with the front door lock. They were addressed immediately. They had NETFLICKS which was a big bonus for our family after a big day of seeing the sights. Our 14 year old son was able to catch up on some episodes he had missed on a favorite series. Better than getting dinged for $$$ at a hotel!
Our hosts were gracious enough to allow a late check out, for which we were grateful.
