We're of course mortified by this. We'll be discussing your experience with our cleaners, as those issues are unacceptable. We take a lot of pride in providing a great experience for our guests, and will make sure these problems don't occur again!
As far as the stairs go, yes, that's why we include photos of the staircase and specifically mention that they are not suitable for those with mobility issues.
In regards to communication, we try to make sure our guests have all the information they may need. We have many guests from all over the world stay with us, and often times what may be obvious or 'common sense' to some guests is not clear for others. We err on the side of too much information rather than have guests need to search for answers.
Yes, we had a few hot days while you were here and being a 100+ year old house, sometimes the attic can get a little stuffy, which is why we recommend guests keep the windows open on those days for a nice ocean breeze to help cool things off.
In terms of not attempting to meet you, it wasn't a specific decision on our part. We mentioned specifically that we're always available should you need anything (we both work from home). We almost always run into our guests at some point during their stay, coming or going. We find most guests prefer to feel a sense of privacy rather than us unexpectedly dropping in, so we leave that choice to them.
We didn't receive any communication from you during your stay, so we naturally assumed that everything was going well for you.
Once again, terribly sorry for the issues you mentioned - we hope to make it up to you should you choose to visit Victoria again.
