"y COPA"
"y COPA" - The Summit - is a self contained, self catering contemporary 'condo' style living unit. It was completed in June 2012 and allows for up to six people to stay in modern comfort all on one level.

The open plan design has high vaulted ceilings which add to the airy feel of the whole place, both inside and out. The never ending views down across the large patio garden and green green fields to the sea and hills beyond will add to your peaceful, relaxing stay.

Two bedrooms offer very comfortable double beds. The blue bedroom also has a beautiful en-suite and a high skylight as does the third bedroom which has large pine bunk beds suitable for the young ones but big enough for adults too.
All are supplied with bed linen and quilts. There are extra blankets should the nights turn chilly.

The bathroom is very spacious with a large luxurious shower.

All house towels are supplied but not for use on the beach.

The fully fitted, modern kitchen, living and dining areas are open plan with everything you need and there's even a washing machine tucked away in case you have the need to do some washing.
A travel cot & high chair are available on request to help care for the little ones.

Underfloor heating is throughout although this is generally a warm condo and heating is normally only required during the colder months.

The large patio area is accessible from the living area. It offers a place to relax and enjoy some real alfresco living whilst absorbing the peaceful tranquillity and glorious views. There is a large dining table and plenty of seating with loungers on request. There is a BBQ to service large and small groups and small portable style BBQ available, to accommodate any vegetarians. A fire pit is placed on the edge of the patio for you to sit around on those starry, starry nights.

Parking is available for upto three cars in the drive next to the front door. If you're towing a trailer there is plenty of room for that to be stowed as well. And if you end up with mucky wellies and muddy walking boots there's pleanty of space outside under shelter for them to dry out along with wet suits and clothes that need to drip dry.
Bikes, kayaks or any other equipment can be stowed safely in one of our outbuildings.

Access into "y COPA" is via an integral ramp over a low level threshold which allows for wheelchair access as well assisting those with walking difficulties.

"ADFER", - to restore - our bungalow is attached so we're never far away but far enough for you not to be disturbed.
It sits in about an acre of land with fields all around, down a lane, down a track but we're only a five minute drive from Cardigan town, with plenty of places to eat, good pubs and various amenities including a very modern theatre/cinema, wonderful ancient quayside and castle.

Walking and cycling are great favourites for this area whether along the many miles of coastal path or off into the countryside. And there's probably every outdoor pursuit and activity you can think of within striking distance.
Several beautiful beaches and exciting bays are within a few minutes drive, some owned by The National Trust and on a good day you can see our wonderful seals and dolphins.
We are situated on the boarders of three counties, Ceredigion, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire.
There's plenty of all sorts of things to do so do a web search for West Wales or any of the three counties.

Bus routes are a mile away. If travelling by train the nearest stations are Clunderwen or Carmarthen in the south and Aberystwyth in the north, all about 50 minutes drive from us.

PETS: We will accept one small dog only at an extra charge of £15 per visit. Please contact us first.
We are great animal lovers and have three small dogs ourselves along with a handful of chickens. We have also had cows, sheep and pigs along with their off spring so we are real animal lovers. We have learnt however that anything more than one small dog visiting creates a lot of work and medium and large dogs generally compromise the standards of cleanliness and hygiene that we endeavour to offer every visiting group. We hope you understand.

Baby/child sitting service available from Barbara & Phil who are both fully enhanced CRB checked and have been registered foster carers.
Please ask for details.

Although the accommodation is fully self catering we can offer hot meals if required especially if arriving late and not wanting to cook. All home cooked and very tasty.
Please ask for details.

Home made pickles, chutneys and jams are usually available along with fresh eggs and sometimes some fresh baked cakes. If you want any of these made available on arrival or perhaps would like to arrange a local supermarket delivery please let us know.

We have now experienced many groups of people of all types visiting y Copa since June 2012 and we have only ever received pleasing comments, always referring to the beauty of the location and the peacefulness that adorns here as well as the modern comfort within. Should you have any questions at all please do not hesitate to ask.

The Neighborhood

Penparc is a small village directly above the ancient town of Cardigan, due north on the coastal road towards Aberystwyth.
ADFER and 'y COPA' are located approximately 1 mile from the coastal road and 3 miles from Cardigan.
Although being a rural community you are never too far away from 'civilisation' and the normal amenities. However, once you relax into this peaceful location you're quite likely never to want to return, and leave civilisation behind!

Getting around

Public transport is accessible in all directions but please be aware we are a rural community and the services are not the same as available in the towns and cities. Buses are almost on our doorstep. Trains are a 50 minute car ride away in Carmarthen and Aberystwyth.
Taxi services operate from Cardigan.

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • We spent a lovely long weekend staying at Phil and Barbaras place. We were delighted with the rooms, all new and in very good nick, with a stunning view. There was a huge set of folders full of info about the local area, plus local OS maps to use - great attention to detail! The hosts themselves were perfectly friendly and helpful, couldn't ask for more.
    All in all top notch.

  • it's not just the view from the house which made our stay wonderful. It was definitely also due to Phil and Barbara who took all the time to give us advice on trips to make, beaches to visit etc. On top of that our children could feed the chicken and we could enjoy the beautiful Welsh scenery.

  • We had a marvellous time. We were first greeted with a detailed email of things to do in the area that would appeal to us. The condo was bright, airy and well-equipped. Barbara and Phil recommended wonderful walks, pubs and activities. Barb's jams were exceptionally delicious as were the farm's free-range eggs.

The house is full of cards & movies, and the decking has a wonderful view of the hills and down to the sea.

    We couldn't recommend it more

    Response from Phil & Barbara:

Thanks Guys. It was great to meet you. Don't leave it too long before you return. There's many many more places to visit and explore.
    God bless you

  • Phil & Barbara Buckman are very hospitable, forthcoming and helpful people, who respected our privacy.
The part of their property we rented, with a wide living room and two comfortable and state of the art bathrooms, was very clean and very well equipped. The terrace - in the sun - was not completed yet, but no problem. To reassure our privacy they closed the curtains on the windows that overlooked the terrace. There was a lot of information (and maps!) about the region in the house. Thanks for that!

  • As a young family we had a lovely week staying at Y COPA. Phil and Barbara were very helpful and we always felt we could ask them if we needed anything. The house was a perfect base for a beautiful and relaxing week, being close to so many beautiful beaches and parks. There was everything we could have needed in the house and it is presented at an exceptionally high standard whilst still feeling warm and homely!

We are both originally from London moving out to Cornwall in the 80's. We fell in love with country life and never went back to the big smoke. After 17 years raising our family in Liphook, Hampshire our two 'boys' now in their 30's flew the nest and we followed the vision God gave us and moved to Wales. Yet another adventure into a place we'd never been and we've never looked back. They say this is God's country and we just love this glorious countryside. So many beaches, coves and little bays to explore. And we just love walking, and walking and walking, along with bird watching, dolphin spotting and chasing the seals. A redundancy from a life long career in the mid 90's encouraged a life change and we both got involved with child care and family support. It sort of went with our passion for children and youth work which were both involved with for many years and it all became part of this journey. Working with disfunctional families and children in care led us to become foster parents creating yet another chapter in our lives. Coming to Wales was an unknown and which is still happening. Our first visit to ADFER, standing at the top of the drive, confirmed we were here to stay. We were told that animals would play their part. Having only had dogs before rearing and breeding pigs, sheep and cows along with a few chucks just added to the excitement. Oh, and don't forget Leia, Sid and Luke our three wonderful sibling Jack Russell's. There were three but Luke unfortunately sky walked and didn't return. But Little Molly, Leia's Jackopoodle off-spring is now with us. And then along came the development of y COPA, a very special place 'of excellence' for all to enjoy, gain respite and be restored, with a very special story behind it.....but we'll tell you that one, if you like, when you get here. It could be the start of something very exciting in your lives and you never know, you might get to taste some of those beautiful fresh eggs. We'll put the kettle on. He says a vision is given to you for it's life and it never stands still. We still have the vision and every day brings something new. We love living here and will never stop thanking our God for what he has done.
