My boyfriend, my doggy Max and I booked a night at the Spanish Hacienda. A couple hours after checking in, we decided to extend our stay another day. We really love this place, the decor, the amenities especially the hot tub. Cheri was such a great host and very sweet, she gave us a couple strawberitas to enjoy while we we were in the hot tub and Max had a little play time with her doggy DJ. Very peaceful and we will definitely be back! Thanks Cheri!!! :-) Your Tropical Resort is a gem....
I was meant to stay here for a couple nights and ended up staying longer! Good experience.
Cheri was a really great host. The space was comfy and cute. My only note to future guests is to be sure not to forget your keys for the gate because you can not get in without them! I would stay again.
My wife and I were delighted to be guests on Cheri's wonderful property. Although I was primarily there for work, the Spanish hacienda was spacious, stocked with essentials, and just had the warm and fuzzy feeling you wouldn't receive at a hotel. We utilized almost all the amenities her property has to offer, including the grill, hot tub, and the common areas which had the trickle of a waterfall to dilute any sounds that might have otherwise been heard from the hustle and bustle of the city. Cheri will be very attentive to your requests and will ensure your stay is beyond a pleasant one. If your in California this is a must stay if your looking to relax comfortably in a nicely secluded environment, but also be in close proximity to everything California has to offer!
Cold AC, nicely decorated and great surroundings. The neighborhood area is also wonderful. Pool and Hottub is a big plus, all the greenery adds to the appeal. Beaches and mountains are nearby. I would stay here again.
Cheri was great and responsive. The house was as described, only better. We had such a blast with the firepit, grill, spa, and pool. Such a great find and perfect location less than a mile from Von's, CVS, Radioshack. Being close to shopping made it really easy to buy only the food we needed for each meal. Would come back again.
My boyfriend and I stayed at the SPANISH HACIENDA TROPICAL RESORT and we loved it. At first impression from reading all the instructions and reviews by a few people who had a hard time with them, I was a little curious how the experience would be. Turns out everything was a piece of pie and basically the main thing is to just have common sense and respect for the owner and her property. (Which previous people failed to do and complained about it on some reviews) Cheri was very warm and welcoming, she brought my boyfriend and I iced cold Coronas after we got out of the spa to welcome us! We love anyone who greets us with ice cold beer! The property was beautiful and I loved the variety of features such as the mini pool, the spa, and the cabana. The hacienda was spacious, light, airy, and cool to stay in. I loved the loft style room and the cool flooring. (cool like temperature) Two things I noticed that I thought were awesome and unique was the private patio at the hacienda and the quietness of the property. I was able to fall fast asleep listening to the waterfall going into the mini pool. To hear such quiet is golden in this world.. no highway or construction noise. I hardly even heard people at all. This was bliss. This experience was so much more enjoyable than staying in a hotel. My boyfirend and I talk of visiting again and perhaps renting out the whole place with friends and family if availability permits! The only so-so mentions I can think of is that the couch in the hacienda looked a lot more comfortable than it really was and Cheri's cute dog, DJ is a little bit of a yapper sometimes but he just wanted to come say hello to us all the time! haha As soon as Cheri brought DJ out he was a silly, lovable little guy. Yeah the couch was just a little bit of a bummer because it's set up right in front of the large, flat screen TV and my boyfriend and I love to relax and be as comfortable we can be on a couch. The couch just isn't comfortable but it belonged to Elizabeth Taylor once. ;) (Or was that just the upstairs mirror? Or the 'Homies" toilet seat? j/k) Anywho I would like to remind everyone to go through the check out checklist before they depart as some friendly advice. They are very simple but important! All in all this was awesome. Thanks Cheri!
My sisters and I stayed at the Spanish Hacienda for 5 nights. We chose this property because of its proximity to my brother's house whom we were visiting in March. This property is located in a quiet area and it is close to shopping, restaurants, highway, etc. The grounds are kept clean and there is a lot of outdoor space which is very nice. This was an ideal location for us and we all wanted SO bad to like Cheri's tropical resort. Unfortunately, the entire experience was not a good one. Let me first say that my husband and I are airbnb hosts and that we always aim to provide the best lodging experience for our guests. This includes providing a nice place to stay, addressing any issues that they may have ASAP, and treating them with utmost respect. We want our guests to have a great experience and to come back and stay with us again. Alas that was not what we experienced at Cheri's place. A few items to mention, 1. Upon our arrival, we noticed the bathroom fan was not working. This would normally be OK if the bathroom had a window that opened to the outside but that was not the case. We informed our host. She replied and said the last guest had already informed her about the issue but it is hard to get a handyman to come out. This meant we had to live with the moisture and stink from the bathroom during our stay. There was no attempt made - that we know of - to fix this issue during our stay. 2. I missed a step in the self-check-in instruction list (which was about 5 pages long). The step I missed was returning the key (to the main gate) to the lock-box. Admittedly, it was my fault. However, our host got very angry that we missed this step. She sent a message that I have to return the key immediately and that she had a very busy schedule and could not wait for a convenient time for me. I felt bad and called her within 5 minutes and started by apologizing but she said again (angrily) that the step I missed was clearly highlighted in the instructions...anyhow at the end I had to drive back to the house - even though I was an hour away - to return the key. 3. Floor was dirty. There were dust balls under the couch, bed and table. The rest of the studio was clean. 4. Only one toilet paper roll was provided for our entire stay (3 people for 5 nights). The house manual said none of the supplies are replenished and that is how they keep their costs low and hence can offer the place for a low price. I realize this is a relatively inexpensive place to stay but it lacks customer service. Guests are looked at as a revenue stream. not people who should be treated well.. Bottom line, if you...
Guest made a point of using her negative review to plug her own rental, but I feel being a host holds her to an even "higher standard of conduct" that she would treat other hosts & their rentals the way she expects guests to treat hers!
Upon arrival she took our lockbox key, preventing everyone else from entering property! I had to arrange to meet her at the on-site ofc. the following day to get key back. Apparently the cause & effect of her own negligence made her disgruntled & her experience less than great, resulting in a negative review for me.
She also violated rules by stuffing her dirty sofa bed sheets back in the wicker basket w/ the clean bedding where housekeeping would not see it rather than where instructed to leave dirty linen.
Her complaint re: the bathroom fan was quite misleading. I had only been informed about the fan that AM by the guests who checked out right before she checked in. Since our property is a private residential estate not a community complex, we do not have an onsite handyman on payroll. We have to schedule an apptmt. w/ an independent handyman. What I told her was I could not get one out there right away. Additionally, a bathroom fan is not a required or listed amenity. It was promptly replaced the day they checked out, since we do not enter units in respect for guest privacy unless it is an emergency, which a bathroom fan is not considered an emergency. The stench & moisture she created & complained about could have easily been remedied by simply opening up the sliding glass patio door situated 8' in front of the bathroom.
She stated there were "dust balls" under the couch & bed. For guests who like to crawl on the floor inspecting underneath furniture, we do not "deep clean" after every guest due to our low cleaning fee & solid bookings.
Apparently she failed to read our listing or house manual just as she didn't read her check-in instructions, which clearly states we only provide supplies upon guests arrivals & once they are gone it is up to guest to replenish items if they wish, including the one roll of toilet paper she complained about~ our one roll of 1000 sheet toilet paper is equivalent to 2 regular rolls.
All of our rentals are HIGH QUALITY, LOW COST, SELF CHECK-IN, SELF SUFFICIENT, PRIVATE RENTALS. We do not claim to be a B & B or a hotel. For $75 night she got a 2-story private guest house w/ pvt. back yard in tropical resort setting in a gated estate in an upscale area of L.A. In turn, what she offers her guests as a host is a single studio for $115 night. Which one would you chose?
Once again Cheri's Tropical Resort was great. Everything was clean, organized and well layed out, the Spanish Hacienda was wonderful as well as the grounds. The mornings were wonderful tucked away up in the hills while close to some great restaurants. Her close proximity to our family means we'll be seeing the Hacienda again soon!
Nice place to stay cool enviroment
