I had a summer sublet from hell so I'm a little gun shy about this rental season, but here goes. Please, please watch the video and read the following before you inquire about booking.
The house is in an urban neighborhood. I have added pictures of the street. If you want to stay at the Ritz or in a gated community, please do so. This is New Orleans and it is in the process of being re-built. I have never had any safety issues on my street, but this is a city. And like any city there is traffic, diversity and homelessness. If you are not ok with seeing any of those things, then please look for a hotel.
My house is a project house. My boyfriend and I are fixing it up as we can but it's no where near being perfect. The floors need to be refinished and the paint is not great. The bathroom is a hot mess of spray insulation. There is cable but it's basic. That said, everything works. You can cook and watch tv and DVDs and sit in the overgrown backyard until your heart's content.
My intention is not to be abrupt. I love my house. It has charm and it is an authentic New Orleans experience. I just don't want anyone to think this is a luxury rental.
Thanks for reading. Wherever you stay I hope you have a wonderful time in the Big Easy.
Internet update: There is 200MB of data allocated per guest (including everyone in your party) per week for wireless Internet access. This is equal to about 8,000 page views. However, if you upload, download or stream a lot, this data limit can go fast. I will renew the data limit for you one time with no extra charge but after that there is a $10 charge for every 200MB renewal. If you do plan to be online alot, there are plenty of places with free wifi close to the house.

Like most people said, this is not the Ritz. It is an older house and the neighborhood doesn't look all that great. We had no issues and walked around most nights. The place is only a 10 minute walk into the Quarter and the price is great! Way better than the hotels. You can't beat that! We ate at Gene's PoBoys across the street twice. Highly recommended for a quick lunch (get the roast beef... trust me). The stay was great overall and I would highly recommend this place for any and everyone!
Super easy check in and check out, great location - close enough to the quarter, but not in the middle of the madness. Not fancy but lots of character (love the four poster and old claw foot tub!) and plenty of space for two people. We hope to be back again, we really fell in love with New Orleans.
Heidi's place was comfy and as advertised. The location can't be beat - close to the Quarter, near to both French St and whatever they are calling the cool places on St. Claude. I worked there a little each day between meetings and enjoyed the evenings around town. Best part, the cab came within 5 mins of calling - late or early.
We would like to say a big thank you to Heidi for allowing us to stay at her apartment on our recent visit to New Orleans. Her place was central to everything which made getting everywhere very easy thus cost efficient. The French quarter took less than 10 minutes to walk to however we took taxis when it was dark as being 2 girls in an unknown area we didn't feel 100% safe. The apartment had all the basic amenities that we required, and was very spacious. The only slight issue we had was that the apartment got extremely cold at night even with the supplied blankets and heaters. We loved our stay at Heidi's and would recommend it to anyone who wished to stay in central New Orleans. :)
As per the other comments and Heidi's description, the apartment isn't the ritz carlton. But who really goes to Nola to stay at the Ritz?
The apartments shotgun style offers as much charm of new orleans itself. The primary bed is super comfortable and the other mattresses are easily sleep-able.
The area feels a little sketchy on first impression, but we walked home twice very late and never had any trouble.
All and all a very charming apartment. Thanks Heidi!
This house was great. It's in a very convenient location and is exactly as described. Very spacious for the two of us and a dog and when it was cold, the house is heated with the cutest little gas stove. We had no trouble with anything at all.
Not the Ritz but full of chracter and (website hidden) and Heidi were very helpful. We had ordered stuff online and needed a delivery (website hidden) kindly a cepted the delivery and not once but twice dropped it off for us. Thank you :)
Had a great time Heidi's apartment. It's a beautiful place right in the heart of everything. The area is really cool with great bars and places to eat all around (Go around to Serbia on the other side of the block, excellent food) and the French Quarter is only a stroll away. Heidi's place itself is great, everything works and it is exactly as described, not the Ritz Carlton but was perfect for the four of us and personally I don't think the location could be beaten. Was unusually cold when we arrived too and there were extra blankets waiting for us.
Would stay again in a heart beat!
Terrific set-up in a great location. It worked perfect for our small group travelling from Brooklyn for the New Orleans Fringe Festival! Heidi and Ro were very accommodating!
Thank you so much to Heidi for letting my four friends and I stay at her place. We were all comfortable accommodated. The location is perfect - super close to Frenchman's Rd, and some really good local food and drink options. Certainly be looking up Heidi next time I'm back in the Big Easy!
