We offer accommodation with an artistic outlook. Our fully self contained and independent apartment, re-built in 2011, (email hidden)-worked 1890 end terrace. Our apartment is a short walk from Carriageworks, King St., Sydney Uni. and RPA.

The Space

The architect has made the most of abundant natural light and ventilation.
Setting the scene for your exploration of Newtown's galleries, shops, music venues, theatres, & restaurants (and exclusively for the enjoyment of guests), is a retrospective by Australian artist Tony Twigg.
(In conjunction with Tony's SLOT gallery, we also host the DIP 24/7 Street Art project in our old Shopfront window.)
The bedroom features a King size bed, or 2 X extra length single beds. Your unit has a separate den with two King single sofa beds, suitable for two or three accompanying children. There is a second separate toilet just off the lounge.
The full sized kitchen has a cooktop, microwave, oven, complete with a 4 place dining setting.
There are adjoining laundry facilities with laundry tub and combined front loading washing machine/dryer.
Your ensuite bathroom features twin head and twin control showers, stone top vanities and heated towel rails.
Your kitchen opens onto our fully grassed courtyard where you will find an authentic Italian woodfired oven and mains connected natural gas barbecue.

Guest Access

After a big day out you may want to cosy up in front of our burning log gas fire, and further research the next day's destinations, or (website hidden) home, on our 42" internet connected LCD TV's. Each room in your unit has built in stereo ceiling speakers, with their own volume controls and the ability to switch between different sound sources; (EG MP3 for the bedroom and radio for the Den). Your unit enjoys its own separate entrance, and MIFARE card security.

Interaction with Guests

As your host I am at your service to the degree that suits you best.
After showing you your unit I generally assist folks with a short orientation tour of Newtown.
However, if you prefer independence and know the lay of the land, you can enjoy solitude and privacy within minutes of arriving.
At the beginning of your visit we stock the fridge and pantry with juices, milk, coffee, cereals, bread, yoghurt, fruit, bacon and eggs so that you can enjoy preparing your own breakfast each morning at whatever time of day suits you best.

The Neighborhood

Newtown has a buzz like no other suburb in Sydney. Our street may bring you the music of young children at play in the primary school opposite, or the singing of worshippers in the Church just over the road, who coexist with rock bands that hire their church hall for rehearsals, as well as the classical musicians practising in their home just a couple of doors away.

Getting around

Sydney's major attractions are at Circular Quay; the Opera House, the Harbour Bridge, Ferries to Manly, the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Rocks and the Botanic Gardens are just some of the attractions at Circular Quay. Circular Quay is 4.5 kms from our apartments.

The bus stop for Circular Quay, (King St Near Carillon Ave, Newtown), is 300m from B & B Golden Grove. Buses run every 4 minutes. You can catch a (phone number hidden) or 428 Bus. Bus tickets needs to be purchased before catching the bus. They are available from Charming World Grocer at 8 King Street; (they are close to our place & the bus stop).
The 25-minute bus ride to Circular Quay takes you past:
•Sydney University
•Broadway shopping centre and cinemas
•University of Technology
•Central Railway Station
•Chinatown and Paddy’s Market
•Cinemas and Entertainment Centre
•Town Hall and Queen Victoria Building
•Shopping malls and Centrepoint Tower
•Circular Quay Ferries

A small to medium size car can be parked in the courtyard of the apartment. Access is through a remote controlled roller door.

  • Look no further, Lloyd has your Sydney accommodation covered. It isn't hard to feel at home here. The suburb is a few stops from the city centre by train, and the architecture and quaint style of the buildings in the area make for a seriously local and cool experience, especially for those with an interest in photography. Lloyds apartment is about a 5min stroll to the station, and 2mins from local stores, restaurants, and quirky coffee shops. The apartment is really clean and fully equipped, with a fridge and panty will all of the cooking essentials as well as wifi! We will be returning on our next visit to Sydney for sure.

  • Lloyd was an exceptional host and made the booking process so easy and user-friendly. His thoughtfulness with small touches was much appreciated such as breakfast goodies and explaining the apartment.

My mother and I enjoyed the location and space set up. Bliss was breakfast and coffee overlooking the yard and being able to look up at the sky through the louvres. Peaceful, calm and hard to believe we were in the heart of such a busy area.

Getting around was easy, we preferred to walk to Macdonaldtown station (about 8 mins) to train it to the city in just a few minutes. A beautiful neighbourhood with tree-lined streets and interesting houses.

I could go on forever, but for now I'm looking forward to staything there on my next Sydney trip with my partner. Highly recommend this Golden Grove apartment!

  • This is a great location inabout 20 min walk from the train, quiet neighborhood with great restaurants within walking distance and a supermarket a bus ride away. The apt was spacious, with a large bedroom, kitchen, backyard, and living room that can be converted into a 2nd bedroom. Lloyd was very accessible through email and his assistant Nadia was very friendly and provided great insight about Sydney during my stay. I highly recommend this place for individuals and families who need multiple rooms that's close to all the main spots in Sydney.

  • My father and I stayed at Lloyd's apartment for our three nights in March and were blown away by both Lloyd and the accommodation itself. Lloyd was the perfect host and even took the the time to share his passion of surfing with us by taking us over to Manly beach on our first day. Everything is thought out really well at the apartment and we loved the little touches like the music system and the breakfast that was left for our stay. The area is really pretty and there are some great cafés and things to do just around the corner. Sydney is a beautiful city and with a host like Lloyd, you are guaranteed to have an amazing time. In summary... Book to stay here! You won't be disappointed.

Thanks Lloyd! Hopefully we'll be back soon!

  • I used Lloyd's apartment as a base for picking up family from the airport having flown in from UK and for being close proximity to Central Sydney. The location was great, easy access to public transport, supermarkets and eateries if needed but to be honest the apartment is well equipped, comfortable and homely that if you do not want to go out you don't need to! Lloyd was the perfect gentleman and host, there to meet me on arrival and tell me what I needed to know and then on the end of the phone if needed... Nothing was too much hassle! Thank you Lloyd!

  • Fantastic place! Lloyd you will have to tell us if you decide to sell! Very comfortable and location was fabulous. Not to mention the pizza oven out the back is great.
    Had a fantastic stay.

  • We love the house. Modern setting with secured access card to the unit, high speed internet. Lloyd responded fast on any query. Upon arrival, the fridge was stock up with milk, juice, fruit and bread for the breakfast. The island type of kitchen is fantastic, with all the amenities.

  • Our two day stay was wonderful. Lloyd was a perfect host. The apartment was very clean and tidy. A handy position to all amentities. We couldn't have asked for a better stay. I would not hesitate in staying there again when next in Sydney and would gladly recommend Lloyds apartment to anyone wishing to stay in Sydney. 5 star. Thanks again Lloyd.
