My neighborhood is in the Beaumont district which is close to the Hollywood. district This area has several coffee shops and at least 5 micro breweries within walking distance. There are and many many shops and restaurants, also within walking distance. There are three major bus lines, with a train(max) connection in Hollywood. One of the bus lines goes directly downtown. It is a 20 minute ride to downtown or a 10 minute drive by car. If you have a car you may park in the driveway since I will be out of town.
The neighborhood is pleasant, quiet and safe. A stroll or bike ride through the neighborhoods can be very relaxing and entertaining with all of the different homes and gardens to view. The neighborhood near Alameda St., is frequently one for walking tours. I have 2 bikes for riding. One is a Townie and the other is a recumbent bike.
In lieu of a cleaning fee, I am asking that you change the sheets and towels in preparation for the next group of guests. I am also asking that you vacuum and continue the laundry cycle of washing and drying the previous familys' sheets and towels that will be waiting in the washer when you arrive. Leaving the house neat and clean would be much appreciated. Everything is explained in a detailed letter left for you on the piano. Please read it and take it seriously.
There is a fairly strict cancellation policy for this whole house rental.
Please only reserve this house if you intend to take the rules about garbage and recycling and laundry and everything seriously. Thank you, Leigh
The whole house and yard.
Interaction with Guests
I will be out of town. I ask that guests change the sheets and towels and prepare the house for the next set of guests in this whole house rental. That is in lieu of a cleaning fee. I also ask that the arriving guests start the washer that will have the previous guests' sheets and towels in it. Then dry and fold at your convenience. You will then leave a full load for the next people to wash and dry when you leave.
The neighborhood is very pretty and safe with families out playing and walking. I like that it is close to shops and eateries and that there are many different blocks to walk and enjoy the scenery.
There are three major bus lines within 3 blocks of the house. Any of them will take you to the Max train. One bus goes directly downtown. The others easily go to all the different places you might want to see in Portland. It is a very easy transportation system. Look up Portland Tri Met on the computer. I have 2 bikes to use free of charge. See pictures.
Other Things to Note
There are some toiletries in the bathroom along with a hair dryer and curling iron. I have 2 bikes that are shown in the pictures. You may use them free of charge.
There is no smoking in the home or on the property. It is helpful if everyone is careful about turning out lights when not in use and turning down the heat at night and when you are not in the house. Just general carefulness about utilities is appreciated.
I just expect common courtesy, responsibility and kindness. If you are renting the whole house for a short stay, I need for you to change the sheets for the next guest. Sometimes vacuuming is needed. Thank you very much!
Neighborhood was great and convenient to most things we enjoyed doing (we had a car). Even though we weren't home very much, house was cozy and had what we needed. Would stay there again :)
Leigh's little Portland house is adorable, comfortable, and serene. I hope we are able to stay there again sometime. I loved the neighborhood too. Great coffee 2 blocks away at Case Study Coffee.
This is a fantastic rental!! We stayed here for four days and were so happy that we found this house. It is in a quiet and pretty neighborhood with easy access to the major highways. The house is in beautiful condition with a large new kitchen, large garden with outdoor breakfast table, flatscreen TV with netflix, a very affectionate cat, and a baby grand piano in the living room. Communication was excellent and everything was exactly as we expected it to be. We have told all our friends about our amazing airbnb experience and will definitely try to stay here whenever we return to Portland. This listing is a real gem.
We stayed at the lovely cottage for a week in July during our visit to Portland for a wedding. The home IS lovely, and cozy, and has a private, relaxing garden space which we enjoyed greatly. We found everything we needed at the home and really enjoyed the company of the kitty, who was no problem at all. Leigh left ample instructions and was very accessible, though everything was so nice we really did not need to be in touch during the stay. The area is lovely and quiet and the location was very convenient for everything we wanted to do in Portland. We would definitely stay here again in the future!
Excellent stay in Portland. Lovely house in a nice neighbourhood. Would highly recommend.
We loved staying at Leigh's place. We enjoyed her friendly dog and cat's company, and my husband really, really enjoyed playing the piano. He said it sounded like a violin in the form of a piano. The backyard was very sweet, and we had breakfast out there, which was lovely. Wish we could've stayed longer!

About the Host, Leigh
I am a single woman, who teaches piano for a living. I am fun loving, easy going and open minded. I love interacting with my guests and helping them when they want it. However, I will not intrude. When not teaching piano, I sing in choirs, do gardening and explore Portland. There are many neat neighborhoods and places to eat and drink here.
Occasionally I travel to visit family in Illinois, California and England.
If you come and stay here, I will be able to point you in the right direction of many different places to have fun in Portland. I have lived here for over 8 years and continue to find it fascinating. Before living here I lived in southern California for 13 years and before that in Wisconsin for 15 years. I am one of six kids and have 2 grown children of my own and 2 young granddaughters who are one of the lights of my life. I was born and raised in Evanston, IL and am a Midwesterner at heart.
