This home was actually built in the 1800's but and while the outside makes it look like a classic Berkeley Brown shingle, It has been completely renovated .
As far as location, we are close to everything . It's walking distance to Whole Foods , and Berkeley Bowl. A simple 10 minute walk to Ashby BART will take you to San Francisco. There are also many delicious restaurants also in easy walking distance.
I am offering a bright, clean and private room with a simple closet and queen bed. You will have your own bathroom which is just down the hall. You are welcome to share the large open living/dining room as well as the kitchen. I spend a lot of time cooking/entertaining . If it works out, maybe we'd even get to share a meal.
I've had so many rich experiences as a guest around the world. It's a pleasure and joy to be able to open my home in this way. Welcome.
David was a great host. He would go that extra step to make sure you have all you need, be it food, information or even for wig for your drama scene for school. :-) I enjoyed the stay a lot and I am sure many people will in the future.
David is very polite, helplful, open, very generous. I agree that i don't find the words to describe his kindness. He is the kind of people you can chose him as friend in few days:very transparent and respectful. I enjoyed the period I stayed with him in his house. Thank you David for your hospitality.
David was an excellent host. The bedroom was comfortable, the private bathroom was convenient, and I was encouraged to make use of the kitchen, living area, and yard (including his garden). He shared tips on dining, hiking, etc. David loaned me a bike, which was a bit rusty but serviceable. He volunteered to cook a couple of meals for me (once just before he retired from a long day!), and shared his food.
David's comfortable, well-located place was perfect for my visit to the East Bay, & I'd definitely stay there again! We didn't see a lot of one another, because I keep really late hours & was out every evening, & David usually left earlier in the morning. But from the get-go, he was very easy to communicate w/, made sure I had everything I needed, & when we did intersect, he was gracious, charming & friendly.
I come down 2-3 times a yr to see family, friends, & get my Bay Area fix. The location just off Telegraph, just over the Oakland-Berkeley city line, was great for getting around to visit everyone.
The open kitchen is absolutely gorgeous & well-equipped, & there was room for me to keep a few items in the fridge & on the counters. Skylights & big windows let in plenty of light, & overlook a lovely yard w/ a small garden. There are a couple of lounging couches, & the WiFi is fast & reliable. Very nice to have my own parking spot in the driveway. The room is simple, pleasant, w/ a SUPER-comfortable bed, & a closet. Being it was August, I requested a fan, & David made sure I had one. Having my own bathroom was wonderful, & everything was very clean.
A large Whole Foods market is close by, & the justly famous Berkeley Bowl isn't much further. The tree-lined street of well-maintained older homes is lovely, & surprisingly quiet. (Well, there was a neighbor doing some renovations, but he didn't start too early, & it was only one day of my stay). This was the first time I've rented a room instead of an entire apt. w/ airbnb, & I sure hope all my experiences are this good!
David was a fantastic host-warm and helpful. He loves talking with travelers and sharing his lovely home, which is very well located. I even was able to pick a few peaches off the tree in the backyard for breakfast! I would highly recommend his "sanctuary".
David was the kindest, most generous host anyone could hope for.
Was so happy that I stayed there. It was great to have my own bathroom & bedroom, which was very comfortable.
I am travelling through San Francisco and needed a place where I felt safe to leave my car (with belongings inside) as well preferably where I didn't need to move it every two hours due to parking restrictions. David has a wonderful, big home (with car park) and is a kind and generous host. He will go out of his way to make you feel welcome, such as offer a myriad of teas to choose, make a blueberry smoothie with almond milk, offer wine, entice you to indulge in his cooking and lend his bicycle.
I needed to write a business proposal during my time in San Fran and David's home was the perfect place to do this. It is quiet as well open, bright and sunny. The comfortable queen sized bed, feather down pillows and quiet room offer the perfect space for a restful night's sleep. I am very grateful to David for his hospitality and encourage others to enjoy his enviable space at more than competitive rates in line with other airbnb offerings in San Francisco and the surrounding area.
The place was very comfortable and spacious, and moreover David is such a nice person. Just in a week became a fan of David's hospitality and friendliness.
Friendly, warm, quiet, clean, sharing fresh pineapple, filtered water, open kitchen handy at all times, I would definitely go back
I needed last minute accommodations and this worked out perfectly. I had a wonderful stay. I enjoyed the large room and quiet house. It was nice to have a private bathroom, to be able to park in the driveway and to have Whole Foods market around the corner. It was also very nice to talk with David over a glass of wine and home cooked meal!
