We've been told by every single person who has slept in our guest room that it was one of the best night's sleep they'd had...ever! Why? We have a super comfy bed with an air controlled mattress, topped with a memory foam topper, then covered in a hypo-allergenic mattress pad that helps control temperature. We top it off with 400-ct, 100% cotton sheets and a hypo-allergenic duvet. At night, the room is cool (2 fans and cool a/c) and oh, so dark! Makes for a deliciously deep sleep!!

The space

Our home has an open floor plan with plenty of space to stretch out and feel at home.

We've got great outdoor living. Two large decks provide lots of shady outdoor space where you can start the day with a cup of java, relax at the end of the day with a glass of wine or curl up in our over-sized deck chairs with your favorite author. On a chilly night, you're likely to find Frank in the back, stoking a fire in the fire pit. Pull up an Adirondak chair and warm your feet.

You'll have access to a well equipped kitchen (stove, fridge, wine cooler, microwave, VitaMix, juicer, dehydrator, food processor and, of course, coffee maker. We have stainless cookware, dishes, linen napkins...everything you'll need.)

The dining room has a large table with 8 upholstered chairs. A great place to write letters, work on your laptop or even eat a meal (imagine that!). It opens into the living room, which has over-sized leather sofa and chair and an additional rattan chair. There is a wall-mounted flat screen t.v. with Apple TV. (Wi-fi through out, of course!)

The bedroom has an amazingly comfy bed, antique armoire with shelves for your clothes, books and cds for your enjoyment. There is also a television for catching up on local news and programming. Throw in a pair of occasional chairs we brought back from Belize (surprisingly comfortable) and you're set!

There is a separate bathroom adjacent to the bedroom for your personal use. It is equipped with a bath/shower, toilet, and pedestal sink. Lots of hooks for your towel and swimsuit (handy after a dip in Barton Springs!) We supply house slippers and a cozy bathrobe for your use.

We are only a 10-12 minute cab ride from the airport. If we're in town, we can arrange to pick you up at the airport, too. ;-) If you rent a car, there is on the street parking readily accessible. There is a bus route 1 1/2 blocks from the front door. If you wish to use a ride share, you can download the app for Fasten (Austin does not have Uber nor Lyft...long story). Use this promo code to save $5: TM9505.

Guest access

Access includes your bedroom, your bathroom, the kitchen and all appliances, plates, cups, glasses, utensils, as well as a shelf in the refrigerator. You are welcome to hang with us in the living room/dining room, or chill in any outdoor space (2 decks, back yard and front yard). Our office, master bedroom and bath are private areas.

Interaction with guests

We both work irregular schedules and are in and out throughout the day. We are happy to give you your space and privacy. We can also be available if you need someone to guide you around and show you the ropes. The level of interaction is entirely up to you, our guest.

Other things to note

We have a new bicycle with lights, bell, and helmet. We are happy to loan it to you. We just ask that you sign an agreement accepting full responsibility for the bicycle and accessories. We ask that you please always use the lock provided and return it home each night.

I LOVED Sharon's place and recommend it to anyone traveling to Austin for business or for fun (I went for SXSW). It is extremely clean and comfortable and Sharon and Frank are very nice, friendly hosts who made me feel like at home. I would stay there again for my next trip to Austin. Great airbnb experience!

Definitely my best Airbnb experience! Sharon picked me up from the airport, showed me around and offered some really great recommendations on places to eat and drink. The room was very clean and had a welcome basket with a lot of tasty and healthy snacks. Frank was out of town, so Sharon made me feel very welcome. I cannot recommend her highly enough. Seriously, I want to come back!

Sharon and Frank are such wonderful, accommodating people and hosts. They even picked us up from the airport! Our room was clean and had a welcome basket with organic fruits, nuts, chocolate and crackers. So sweet! The home is clean, well-maintained, and fully stocked (i.e. bathroom has toiletries, towels, robes, etc). They went above and beyond what I have ever experienced on Airbnb, such as (1) Frank dropped my husband and I off for our dinner (at a superb steak resto recommended by them) on our first night, just cause! (2) a friend of mine was going to drive up to Austin to see me, and Sharon rented out their other guest room to my friend for three days! (3) Sharon mailed something out for me b/c I was leaving America on Sunday when the post office is closed. Their home is on the east side of Austin, the up and coming area, and is a 15-to-30-minute walk to all the fun parts of town (and all the SXSW locations). We walked half of our stay, and Uber & Lyft'd the other half. It is also a 5-minute walk to Sam's BBQ (recommended again by vegetarian Sharon) and it is a MUST visit spot for smoked brisket. It was WAAAAY more memorable than the other nicer, higher-end BBQ restos we went in the center, but the meat was just as, if not more, delicious at a fraction of the cost. Next time my husband and I are back in town for SXSW, we are DEFINITELY staying with Sharon and Frank! Coolest and nicest hosts ever! Cannot say enough good things about these good people. P.S. They have the two cutest cats that can pass off as dogs as they are super affectionate, but people with allergies, beware!

Sharon and Frank were absolutely fantastic, offered some great recommendations on places to eat, and totally went out of their way to make me feel welcome. I would highly recommend staying with them if you're going into Austin for any reason and aren't shy about interacting with your hosts. Seriously, they're great.

Sharon was out of town, so Frank made me feel very welcome. There was fruit, tea (and coffee, but I don't drink coffee), and a snack to take with me on my flight home. Although I didn't have time to ride, Frank had a bike ready for me. The neighborhood is good for both walking and biking. I did plenty of walking. Lovely house, porches, comfortable bed. TV, wifi, and 2 friendly cats to make me feel at home.

I don't know what I can say about Sharon and Frank to convey the right amount of appreciation for their hospitality and kindness! Sweet, laid-back couple with a beautiful home! The room was clean and quiet, the bathroom was well stocked with everything we needed- towels, wash cloths, shampoo/soaps, feminine hygiene products. You can really tell that Sharon and Frank have put a lot of thought and consideration into their hosting process. Highly recommend them to anyone looking for a place to stay in Austin, and would definitely come back!

My husband and I are from Austin, TX. Its great living in this non-stop town. The rivers, lakes and greenbelts provide great outdoor activities like kayaking, hiking, biking, rowing, swimming and more. Besides enjoying the outdoors, we like a night on the town, taking in a night at the ballet, dancing to great live bands, scoping out the local theater scene or just enjoying some sushi and sake. The music festivals are annual events for us: South By Southwest, Old Settlers, ACL, Kerrville Folk Festival and Fischer Fest. We love to travel, too! Our adventures have taken us to Thailand, Japan, China, Greece, France, England, Belize, Caribbean, Canada, Mexico and all over the USA. We enjoy skiing, scuba diving, hiking, kayaking, and cycling. We like being home, too, cooking, creating or puttering in the garden, growing our own veggies. We are entrepreneurs: Frank has an import business and I have a Oriental Medicine clinic next to the UT campus. As a retiree from the airlines, I have passes which provide us ample opportunity to travel. We share our house with 2 loveable kitties. Meow! We love our life and we love making new friends from all over!
