This two-bedroom, cozy ground-level flat with a BRAND NEW bathroom is a great base from which to explore Logan Square's restaurants, coffee houses and farmers market. It's a perfect point of departure for Chicago's sites and attractions.
:: Hi there and welcome to my listing! ::
It's my third year of being an AirBNB host, and I can't wait to share Chicago with you! A JUST RENOVATED spa-like bathroom and spruced-up kitchen await you, and the Logan Square neighborhood just keeps getting better and better. Get yourself over here!
This two-bedroom, one-bath cozy ground-level apartment makes a great home base from which to explore hip Logan Square's restaurants, coffee houses and farmers market as well as a perfect point of departure for the rest of Chicago.
- 10-minute walk to/from the Logan Square Blue Line el station
- 40-minute train ride from O'Hare
- 25-minute train ride to downtown
:: Important basics ::
- Accommodates four people maximum, but can be COZY for four adults.
- On-street PARKING is easily available and free (it requires a neighborhood permit which is provided).
- In summer, a window unit air conditioner cools the place down.
- You are welcome to enjoy the front patio and a shared backyard with Weber Grill/BBQ.
- There is a radio/docking station for your iPhone/iPod.
- Yes, towels are provided.
- No dishwasher (sorry).
- No pets. No exceptions.
- No TV set.
- Again, it is an English Garden apartment AT GROUND LEVEL so it doesn't get a ton of sunlight, but large windows and good light fixtures work to combat that.
:: IMPORTANT DETAIL::
There is no TV. I do not want you to be disappointed, so if you are an avid TV-watcher, this is not the place for you.
:: The Place ::
It is an English Garden apartment (ground level) in a vintage 3-flat; I live upstairs. The apartment is decorated in a fun vintage modern style with comfort and function foremost. It combines historic charm (wood floors and quirky closets) with 21st-century must-haves (WiFi, every kind of coffee maker possible and shared washer/dryer). Oh, except for a TV; sorry, no TV!
I want you to be comfortable: This means comfortable furniture, good mattresses, great 100% cotton sheets, excellent artwork, well-equipped kitchen, and super clean.
:: The Neighborhood ::
Logan Square is very residential but has pockets of great restaurants and bars (Fat Rice, Hachi's Kitchen, Longman & Eagle, Lula Cafe, Masa Azul, Revolution Brewing, Webster's Wine Bar and The Whistler, among others) all in walking distance, as well as coffee houses (Intelligentsia, Leticia's, Gaslight and Starbucks) and a handful of independent shops plus a great movie theater. In summer, the Logan Square Farmers Market runs Sundays from 10 am to 3 pm.
PLEASE NOTE that the neighborhood is hip and "up and coming," but it is NOT in the heart of Chicago tourist attractions (downtown). Downtown and the lakefront are 3 miles away. To get to the north side neighborhoods (Wrigley Field, Lincoln Park Zoo) requires a cab ride or bus/train combo travel.
:: The "Hotelier" ::
I live upstairs in a separate apartment and am available for anything you need (directions, recommendations, etc.), but I will generally be invisible unless you need me. Honestly, I just want this to be a cool and accommodating getaway for visitors who wish to experience Chicago as a local would!
:: Guests We Like ::
The guests we like are respectful, tread-lightly types who are easy to get a hold of, can follow a couple of simple rules, and clean up after themselves. They are not put off by an urban environment and generally appreciate the arts, culture and good food. They hang wet towels to dry, do not leave a sink full of dirty dishes and leave a review shortly after their stay.
*** Please do not make a reservation request until you have completed your profile, including a photo and verifications. That is part of what makes AirBNB a "community," as opposed to staying at a hotel. As well, it gives the hosts a better level of security as we are letting people into our homes and on to our private property. Much appreciated. ***
Thanks for reading. I look forward to hearing from you.

Sarah's place was stylish and clean well outfitted with everything we needed and (website hidden) was comfy cozy and convenient and we can't wait to stay there again. We can't recommend it highly enough.
From her first e-mail, Sarah made me comfortable about trying Air BnB for our quick vacation to Chicago for the weekend. In short, her well-designed, perfectly located place was exactly what we needed and more! Five very enthusiastic stars.
My group included four adults, three of which never traveled to Chicago before. Our experience at Sarah's Modern Vintage apartment was flawless. A few of our folks were nervous about not having a TV but honestly, we loved it even more! We had breakfast together two of the three mornings because Sarah made it super easy to find local stores to pick up whatever we needed! As the ladies were getting ready for the night, there was an iPod dock speaker and a plethora of 'getting ready stations' to choose from (mirrors everywhere! great for a ladies weekend!).
The location was convenient to whatever we needed and just a short uber ride from downtown (split 4 ways, it's practically nothing). Also, we may have frequented one of the local restaurants 3 times over a 3 night stay... Longman & Eagle was THAT GOOD and dangerously close (about a 6 or 7 block walk). Open for brunch and late night snacks every day--- what's not to love?
Thank you so much for everything! From the notes and recommendations, to all the amenities in the apartment, I definitely hope to stay at your AirBnB when I return (hopefully soon!).
Also, I plan to redecorate my apartment as soon as possible-- your creativity in design was everywhere and inspired me to be adventurous in my own home! :) Thank you!
Sarah's place was great-cute, clean and comfortable. She left lots of info on the resturants and shops which were in walking distance and the beds were cozy The complimentary Perrier was a nice perk. Would stay here agian.
Sarah's house has been my best experience with airbnb. Warm decor and very neat and organized, which is greatly appreciated. Towels and sheets of high quality cotton provides a sense of comfort of being at home.
The management and control of lights is smart as well as the provision of all things at home is very functional.
You can feel the security of having instructions for any event that may occur, also information from key locations around the area.
Sarah, a very friendly and nice person.☆
For us, the location was more than ideal, because our son lives just 5 blocks away.
A lovely place to arrive in Chicago, for sure.

Midwestern urban farm girl who appreciates art, architecture, travel, good food and good friends. I wear many hats, among them interior decorator, writer, corporate marketing veteran, vintage/antique dealer and landlord. I've owned my Logan Square property for 10 years and have lived in Chicago on and off for the last 25 with a stint in Washington, DC. I am excited to welcome fellow travelers who like to explore "off the beaten path" and proud to welcome them into my home, which is my pride and joy.
My personal recent travels include a long weekend in Detroit, some great hiking in Park City, Utah, a very long break on Kauai and some urban fun in NYC.
