About This Listing
This two-bedroom, cozy ground-level flat with a BRAND NEW bathroom is a great base from which to explore Logan Square's restaurants, coffee houses and farmers market. It's a perfect point of departure for Chicago's sites and attractions.
:: Hi there and welcome to my listing! ::
It's my third year of being an AirBNB host, and I can't wait to share Chicago with you! A JUST RENOVATED spa-like bathroom and spruced-up kitchen await you, and the Logan Square neighborhood just keeps getting better and better. Get yourself over here!
This two-bedroom, one-bath cozy ground-level apartment makes a great home base from which to explore hip Logan Square's restaurants, coffee houses and farmers market as well as a perfect point of departure for the rest of Chicago.
- 10-minute walk to/from the Logan Square Blue Line el station
- 40-minute train ride from O'Hare
- 25-minute train ride to downtown
:: Important basics ::
- Accommodates four people maximum, but can be COZY for four adults.
- On-street PARKING is easily available and free (it requires a neighborhood permit which is provided).
- In summer, a window unit air conditioner cools the place down.
- You are welcome to enjoy the front patio and a shared backyard with Weber Grill/BBQ.
- There is a radio/docking station for your iPhone/iPod.
- Yes, towels are provided.
- No dishwasher (sorry).
- No pets. No exceptions.
- No TV set.
- Again, it is an English Garden apartment AT GROUND LEVEL so it doesn't get a ton of sunlight, but large windows and good light fixtures work to combat that.
:: IMPORTANT DETAIL::
There is no TV. I do not want you to be disappointed, so if you are an avid TV-watcher, this is not the place for you.
:: The Place ::
It is an English Garden apartment (ground level) in a vintage 3-flat; I live upstairs. The apartment is decorated in a fun vintage modern style with comfort and function foremost. It combines historic charm (wood floors and quirky closets) with 21st-century must-haves (WiFi, every kind of coffee maker possible and shared washer/dryer). Oh, except for a TV; sorry, no TV!
I want you to be comfortable: This means comfortable furniture, good mattresses, great 100% cotton sheets, excellent artwork, well-equipped kitchen, and super clean.
:: The Neighborhood ::
Logan Square is very residential but has pockets of great restaurants and bars (Fat Rice, Hachi's Kitchen, Longman & Eagle, Lula Cafe, Masa Azul, Revolution Brewing, Webster's Wine Bar and The Whistler, among others) all in walking distance, as well as coffee houses (Intelligentsia, Leticia's, Gaslight and Starbucks) and a handful of independent shops plus a great movie theater. In summer, the Logan Square Farmers Market runs Sundays from 10 am to 3 pm.
PLEASE NOTE that the neighborhood is hip and "up and coming," but it is NOT in the heart of Chicago tourist attractions (downtown). Downtown and the lakefront are 3 miles away. To get to the north side neighborhoods (Wrigley Field, Lincoln Park Zoo) requires a cab ride or bus/train combo travel.
:: The "Hotelier" ::
I live upstairs in a separate apartment and am available for anything you need (directions, recommendations, etc.), but I will generally be invisible unless you need me. Honestly, I just want this to be a cool and accommodating getaway for visitors who wish to experience Chicago as a local would!
:: Guests We Like ::
The guests we like are respectful, tread-lightly types who are easy to get a hold of, can follow a couple of simple rules, and clean up after themselves. They are not put off by an urban environment and generally appreciate the arts, culture and good food. They hang wet towels to dry, do not leave a sink full of dirty dishes and leave a review shortly after their stay.
*** Please do not make a reservation request until you have completed your profile, including a photo and verifications. That is part of what makes AirBNB a "community," as opposed to staying at a hotel. As well, it gives the hosts a better level of security as we are letting people into our homes and on to our private property. Much appreciated. ***
Thanks for reading. I look forward to hearing from you.
•Check in: 3 pm. You are welcome to drop your bags if you arrive earlier, but I need to know in advance. If we have not communicated otherwise, please call or text me so I know you have arrived and all is well. After 10:30 pm, please text only.
•Check out: 11 am. You may store your bags for up to four hours after that, but please let me know in advance. Call or text (phone number hidden) confirm you have departed.
•Cigarette smoking is allowed on the front patio or back yard. No smoking inside the apartment. Please do not empty ashtrays inside the building.
•No pets please.
We needed a place to stay near our son's apartment. There are no hotels in the area, so our son recommended Airb&b. Sarah's 2 bedroom/one bath garden apartment was perfect for our stay. It was a short walk to restaurants and public transportation. The apartment was very clean and comfortable. The decor was adorable. The neighborhood was very nice and we enjoyed our walks through it. We would diffinitely stay there again and highly recommend.
Perfect pad for the week. Just as described - clean and cool in an awesome neighborhood. Great restaurants nearby and easy commute to the city. I'd so stay here again!
Sarah has created an excellent place for travelers and vacationers to stay in her cool garden-level apartment. This was honestly one of the best airbnb experiences I have had. Everything was clean, easy and clearly-marked. The place was perfect for our needs. The location was great - if you are visiting Chicago, Logan square is the perfect compromise between a young, hip neighborhood and proximity to the city. Sarah has provided all the amenities of a high-end hotel. We couldn't be happier with our stay!
We had such a lovely time staying at Sarah's home. She has created a space that felt like it could be my house. Impeccably decorated, clean and with an eye for detail. Sarah thought about everything you might need to be comfortable. when staying away from home Amazing bathroom and luxurious linens. My work brings me to chicago often - what a great find in the Logan Square neighborhood. I hope to be able to stay at Sarah's again very soon. Book this place - you'll love it!!
Sarah was a fantastic host. She provided excellent instructions for everything, and check in and check out was a breeze. The apartment itself is beautiful and very welcoming, located in a neighborhood with easy access to public transit and great restaurants. I would highly recommend staying here!
Sarah was an amazing host. We found the place with ease. Parking was simple. Upon arrival we found chocolates along side a personal note welcoming us. I am coming back to Chicago just to visit this Logan Square apartment. It was adorable. I had all the upgrades I would want in my own home. With uber and the train getting around was a breeze. We took advantage of so many things being within walking distance! Sarah's printed off 2 color coded maps and many more guides about the town. We were ecstatic!!
About the Host, Sarah
Midwestern urban farm girl who appreciates art, architecture, travel, good food and good friends. I wear many hats, among them interior decorator, writer, corporate marketing veteran, vintage/antique dealer and landlord. I've owned my Logan Square property for 10 years and have lived in Chicago on and off for the last 25 with a stint in Washington, DC. I am excited to welcome fellow travelers who like to explore "off the beaten path" and proud to welcome them into my home, which is my pride and joy.
My personal recent travels include a long weekend in Detroit, some great hiking in Park City, Utah, a very long break on Kauai and some urban fun in NYC.
