This two-bedroom, cozy ground-level flat with a BRAND NEW bathroom is a great base from which to explore Logan Square's restaurants, coffee houses and farmers market. It's a perfect point of departure for Chicago's sites and attractions.
:: Hi there and welcome to my listing! ::
It's my third year of being an AirBNB host, and I can't wait to share Chicago with you! A JUST RENOVATED spa-like bathroom and spruced-up kitchen await you, and the Logan Square neighborhood just keeps getting better and better. Get yourself over here!
This two-bedroom, one-bath cozy ground-level apartment makes a great home base from which to explore hip Logan Square's restaurants, coffee houses and farmers market as well as a perfect point of departure for the rest of Chicago. The apartment is a 10-minute walk from the Logan Square Blue Line el station (so about 40 minutes from O'Hare and 25 minutes to downtown via train).
:: IMPORTANT DETAIL::
There is no TV. I try to make this very clear in the description, but this detail sometimes gets overlooked. I do not want you to be disappointed, so if you are an avid TV-watcher, this is not the place for you.
:: The Place ::
It is an English Garden apartment (ground level) in a vintage 3-flat; I live upstairs. The apartment is decorated and furnished in a fun vintage modern style with comfort and function foremost. It combines historic charm (wood floors, claw foot bath tub and quirky closets) with 21st-century must-haves (WiFi, every kind of coffee maker possible and shared washer/dryer). Oh, except for a TV; sorry, no TV!
As someone who has traveled quite a bit for business and pleasure the last 20 years, I kept my own standards and wishes in mind when outfitting the place. This means comfortable furniture, good mattresses, great 100% cotton sheets, excellent artwork, stocked kitchen, and it will be super clean when you arrive. ;)
:: The Neighborhood ::
Logan Square is very residential but has pockets of great restaurants and bars (Fat Rice, Hachi's Kitchen, Longman & Eagle, Lula Cafe, Masa Azul, Revolution Brewing, Webster's Wine Bar and The Whistler, among others) all in walking distance, as well as coffee houses (Intelligentsia, Leticia's, Gaslight and Starbucks) and a handful of independent shops plus a great movie theater. In summer, the Logan Square Farmers Market runs Sundays from 10 am to 3 pm.
PLEASE NOTE that the neighborhood is hip and "up and coming," but it is NOT in the heart of Chicago tourist attractions (downtown). Downtown and the lakefront are 3 miles away. To get to the north side neighborhoods (Wrigley Field, Lincoln Park Zoo) requires a cab ride or bus/train combo travel.
:: Important basics ::
- Accommodates four people maximum, but can be COZY for four adults.
- On-street PARKING is easily available and free (it requires a neighborhood permit which is provided).
- In summer, a window unit air conditioner cools the place down.
- You are welcome to enjoy the front patio and a shared backyard with Weber Grill/BBQ.
- There is a radio/docking station for your iPhone/iPod.
- Yes, towels are provided.
- No dishwasher (sorry).
- No pets. No exceptions.
- No TV set.
- Again, it is an English Garden apartment AT GROUND LEVEL so it doesn't get a ton of sunlight (don't want anyone to be disappointed), but large windows and good light fixtures work to combat that.
:: The "Hotelier" ::
I live upstairs in a separate apartment and am available for anything you need (directions, recommendations, etc.), but I will generally be invisible unless you need me. Honestly, I just want this to be a cool and accommodating getaway for visitors who wish to experience Chicago as a local would!
:: Guests We Like ::
The guests we like are respectful, tread-lightly types who are easy to get a hold of, can follow a couple of simple rules, and clean up after themselves. They are not put off by an urban environment and generally appreciate the arts, culture and good food. They hang wet towels to dry, do not leave a sink full of dirty dishes and leave a review shortly after their stay.
*** Please do not make a reservation request until you have completed your profile, including a photo and verifications. That is part of what makes AirBNB a "community," as opposed to staying at a hotel. As well, it gives the hosts a better level of security as we are letting people into our homes and on to our private property. Much appreciated. ***
Thanks for reading. I look forward to hearing from you.

•Check out: 11 am. You may store your bags for up to four hours after that, but please let me know in advance. Please call or text (phone number hidden) confirm your departure.
•Cigarette smoking is allowed on the front patio or back yard. No smoking inside the apartment. Please do not empty ashtrays inside the building.

Sarah was a helpful, friendly and communicative host. Her place was clean, cozy and comfortable. We'd stay again!
Attractive, nicely furnished, clean apt. Fit our needs to a T. Super convenient and nice neighborhood.
Great place ,comfortable clean and well situated , there are great restaurants near by as well. All good A+
Sarah's apartment exceeded our expectations. We hope we can make this our "go to" apartment when we visit Chicago from now on. It's only 20 minutes from O'Hare, as well as only a few minutes from the North Loop. And everything the North Side has to offer is all very close. The apartment itself is clean and cozy and, with its two bedrooms, comfortably sleeps 4. The interior design, built around mid-century Scandinavian with eclectic accents, is very appealing. Communicating with Sarah is very quick and easy. Everything was great. We will come again!
Family members stayed at Sarah's place for my daughter's wedding in early November. Following are their comments:
"We loved this apartment, from the decor to the proximity to Logan Square, it was thumbs up all around. There was construction that started really early one morning and Sarah stopped by to apologize and check in, which was very sweet. She also put together a list of restaurants, shopping and more, that was within walking distance of the apartment so we could get a feel for the area. This was super helpful, especially given we had never been to Chicago before. It was easy to get Uber service from the apartment to the heart of the city and airport. There was no TV, which would have been nice once and a while, but overall not a deal breaker. The price was great, especially in comparison to what we would've spent in a hotel, and sacrificed in comfort. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely look to stay at Sarah's place again if we're ever back in Chicago!"
Thank you Sarah for taking such good care of my family!
Sarah provided the info we needed in advance and made our trip super easy! The neighborhood truly feels like a neighborhood and has tons of great eating/drinking/entertainment options within walking distance. There were no problems with our stay, and I would definitely stay here again!
Just returned from our third visit in a year to Chicago at Sarah's apartment.
As always it was a great experience. The Logan Square neighborhood is perfect for us. We can walk to terrific restaurants for breakfast (Longman & Eagle, Cafe Lula) and then walk to our daughter's home to visit (or take the Blue Line if the weather isn't right). Getting to all the attractions in downtown chiciago is just a little further on the Blue Line
Sarah is a wonderful host. She has everything set up in the apartment to welcome guests -- brochures for Chicago activities, listings of local restaurants and stores, and helpful notes to answer any questions about the space.
We will keep on returning for future visits!
Midwestern urban farm girl who appreciates art, architecture, travel, good food and good friends. I wear many hats, among them interior decorator, writer, corporate marketing veteran, vintage/antique dealer and landlord. I've owned my Logan Square property for 10 years and have lived in Chicago on and off for the last 25 with a stint in Washington, DC. I am excited to welcome fellow travelers who like to explore "off the beaten path" and proud to welcome them into my home, which is my pride and joy.
My personal recent travels include a long weekend in Detroit, some great hiking in Park City, Utah, a very long break on Kauai and some urban fun in NYC.
