The Space

So close yet so far. This 1930's charming Italian villa is a real gem. Located walking distance from lovely downtown Mill Valley on a sunny hillside above the lush old growth redwoods of Blithedale Canyon.
The original grand house was divided into 3 levels, so there are other respectful tenants on property. This flat is quite spacious and has a very peaceful retreat like atmosphere. It is very private on it's own level.. The main salon living room is a grand room, beautifully decorated, with a dining area overlooking the trees surrounding.
Off the main salon there is a lovely outdoor verandah where you can enjoy your morning coffee or dinner Al Fresco. There is a fireplace to warm you for that romantic evening in.
The kitchen, though small, is more than sufficient-the gourmet cook will be well accommodated, and will find most everything needed. It has been recently updated with gas range, large stainless fridge (w/crushed ice), and dishwasher. .
The master bedroom has a brand new Stearns & Foster queen sized bed with down comforter and high thread count sheets. This room is spacious and is surrounded by windows, with a beautiful view of lush foliage, very private. The bath is located off the master bedroom and has a shower, no tub.
The second sleeping area is just off the Master BR. Due to the unique layout and proximity of the bedrooms and bath, this second room is best suited and perfect for a child/close family/friends.This room has a brand new sealy postuerpedic queen bed and is also very bright and sunny.
The house is equipped with a flat screen TV and WiFi internet access. Perfect for nature lovers with a laid back life style that still like to stay connected.
For longer term stays there is a washer/dryer available on request in my unit below.
Trail heads are at your doorstep, with many beautiful places to hike on Mt.Tampalpais. There are stairs and redwood lanes that lead you on a beautiful 15 min walk into downtown Mill Valley- where top rated restaurants, movies theater and cafes abound. Check out the famous Sweetwater nightclub or 142 Throckmorton Theatre for music and plays.
There are also several markets including 2 Whole Foods in town.
Easy access to the Marin Headlands, Muir Woods, Stinson Beach, Point Reyes and Mt. Tamalpais State Park. SF is a 20 min drive away Catch the scenic ferry ride into San Francisco, from Sausalito or Tiburon. We are 40 minutes to the Sonoma and Napa Valleys.
We know the area well and can guide you to special places all around the area and beyond.

  • Lovely and secluded are perfect words to describe this home! The furnishings are exquisite. The living room and dining room are comfortable, relaxing areas day and night. Kitchen is small but certainly adequate. It was great to be able to fix breakfast every morning so we didn't have to rush out. Mill Valley has several excellent restaurants (El Paseo was probably our favorite for more upscale dining but Pearl's Phat Burger had a delicious burger). My husband who NEVER grocery shops loved shopping at the Village Market. Internet & cell service were great. Good location for going to beach, wine country, San Fran, Sausalito, Muir Woods & more. We hope to make it back someday!! Thanks Kellie!!!!!

  • Kellie's apartment is amazing -- spacious and eclectic, just as the pictures suggest. My mom and aunt stayed here for four nights and raved about the comfortable beds, abundance of natural light and fresh flowers in the rooms. Location is great -- a short, scenic drive to downtown Mill Valley, which has plenty of great shopping and restaurants. Kellie was extremely generous and communicative, even leaving some breakfast supplies in the fridge. Would recommend this place to anyone. Thanks Kellie!

  • Kellie's place is truly special. Spacious, bright (big windows everywhere), warm and inviting. Perfect for a getaway that happens to be close to everything. It's up on a hill and totally private, but still only a minute or two drive to downtown Mill Valley. The furnishings are lovely, comfortable and stylish - almost a collection of tastefully updated antiques. Both bedrooms are fully appointed, and I found the bed in the master totally comfortable. Not to mention a fantastic deck to hang out at dusk surrounded by nature with a glass of wine and just chill out. And everything works perfectly - tv, internet, a fine living room stereo system, and a terrific, full service kitchen with all working appliances. Kellie herself is a delight, reliable, totally helpful and thorough and available to answer any questions at any time - if not around she's always immediately reachable by text. I can't recommend this place enough - I just hope it's available when I come back to Marin the next time.

  • My stay was perfect! Kellie was the most generous and gracious host. The house was amazing. Perfect. Relaxing. Paradise. I came hardly wait to return. I woke up every morning to the smell of lavender, jasmine and fruit trees. The house is so unique and lovely. And, Kellie was so accessible and helpful. One of my best stays ever. Paradise!!

  • Kellie's place is a delight, as is Kellie, who could not have been a more gracious host and I felt really at home in her very beautiful and special retreat. Her place is a light filled sanctuary and perfectly positioned to be able to walk into town, and yet it feels totally rural. I loved waking up to the singing birds, sitting on her balcony drinking my morning coffee, looking at the trees, and sifting through her wonderful collection of books. The place is clean, well looked after and has everything you could need. The kitchen is small but perfectly equipped, the butler's pantry adds charm, as do all the beautiful furnishings, the master bedroom is large, light and serene, with a super comfy bed. I went there to write and spent many happy hours sitting at her large table looking out at the view, it was a perfect creative idyll. My only disappointment is that I don't live there full time!

  • Our first time at Kellie’s beautiful home was under such emotional circumstances and the beautiful and serene setting was so helpful to us. This trip was under much more joyous conditions and still the house just enveloped us with warmth and love. Add a beautiful Christmas tree and soft candle light everywhere if we chose (we did) and it was magical again this visit. We also had a post-Christmas gathering with our family there and I was able to set a gorgeous table using the more than adequate stock of dishes, wine glasses and serving dishes. The kitchen, though on first glance may look small, was a fun place to pull together my famous Christmas Ravioli Florentine soup , Salad and luscious bread. I love working in that kitchen , it’s one of my favorite places in the house!!
We appreciate the attention to detail that Kellie adds: fresh flowers everywhere, thoughtful breakfast supplies and a clean, beautiful, without being fussy, home. There is a feeling of ‘my home is your home’ here and it makes everything easy in this most perfect setting. We will continue to book our visits with Kellie as long as she will have us. Thanks for everything Kellie, most of all your genuine interest in making sure we are comfortable. You are very special, Thank you so much.

  • We had a good a stay. The place is very beautiful and the surrounding couldn't be beat. Felt very worthwhile. It is a good sized and beautiful place that is full of charm. We really felt transported. Kellie was very friendly and helpful and we felt right a home. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook full meals. It was 20 minute walk to town. The neighbor is beautiful and was fun to explore. Mill Valley is a wonderful place to stay! On the less positive side: I am picky about beds and I found the master bed a little uncomfortable. To her credit, I mentioned it to Kellie after our stay and she said it is a new bed and she would have the mattress company come out and take a look. Also, you have to go through the master bedroom to get to the 1 bathroom and you have to go through the extra bedroom to get to the master one. Most of the time that is not a problem but if someone is sleeping when others aren't (nap, different bedtime or wake up) the other people have to go by the sleeping person to use the bathroom (as well as at night). I think this is what she meant by "this room is best suited and perfect for a child/close family/friends." It meant that at times we had to be a little strategic but it was manageable. I think the house was built in the 30s which really adds to the charm. The down side is they didn't put as much insulation between floors. As a result, you can hear the people who live on the floor above you (talking, walking, etc). It was loud enough to notice but not so loud that it had much of an impact on our stay. Even with these things, the trip felt worthwhile.

    Response from Kellie:

I always appreciate a guests feedback. It allows me to improve the experience here, within my ability. Both beds in the unit are new within the last 10 months. I realize that not every bed will accomodate every individuals particular needs. Drew is the first guest to share this experience. Given that, I am in the process of having it evaluated, particularly considering it is a new bed. The layout is unique as stated in the profile, and has worked well thus far for previous guests. Drew and his wife were lovely and I'm happy that overall they were able to appreciate and enjoy this beautiful space.

  • Kellie, your home was exactly what we needed while in Mill Valley this past 3 nights. The quiet and the luxury without the feeling of fuss was just spectacular. The mornings on the lanai with squirrels and birds and the complete privacy just set the day up for us. We knew you were there somewhere but only if we needed you and that was perfect too. Thank you for being just perfect for our situation and the love and vibe in your house was really something we actually felt throughout our stay. The nice little grouping you left in the fridge was very generous and it was a first for us using a coffee press. We are now on the hunt for one at home. Excellent coffee just made our morning watching nature even better.

I feel like we have a new friend in you and will be hoping you have available space for us whenever we come up to visit our kids. Love to you and thanks for everything you did for us.
See you soon! Patti and Art

  • Two elementary school girlfriends and I stayed at Kellie's lovely home for a weekend. The pictures of Kellie's home cannot begin to tell the story of what a delightful retreat it makes. Kellie herself began our wonderful experience by being immediately responsive to questions that we had and helping us find great things to do in the area. She gave us great directions and kept in touch to see us to her door and smiling face. She gave us a thorough tour and made sure that we would want for nothing. We felt cared for and at home. When you walk out the door the air is fresh and sweet and the walk to town was the perfect way to both work up and appetite and walk of dinner. We really enjoyed chatting in the very comfortable living room and eating meals at the dining table with views of gorgeous greenery. None of us wanted to leave our wonderful retreat, Kellie's hospitality and her home made the perfect getaway for our little reunion and each of us agreed we would go back in a heartbeat!

  • The essence of staying at Kellie's is perfectly captured in the tagline of her profile (lovely, secluded, retreat), although the pictures and words can't do it complete justice. You need to experience it yourself through your senses: see through your own eyes the beautiful, lush property and beautifully decorated house. Hear nothing but the burbling fountain in the yard as you go to sleep at night and wake in the mornings, because of course you can sleep with the windows open. Feel the beautiful mountain air and smell the lemon, fig and pear trees as you sit on the veranda with morning coffee or evening wine. Taste the amazing food that you pick up at the local farmer's market and prepare in the kitchen, or that you dine on at Bungalow 44, a local gem of a restaurant within walking distance in Mill Valley.
When my fiance and I come back (and we will), we will be contacting Kellie, because you can't get this kind of experience in a hotel.

Produce Manage Local Artists/ Designers with National Yoga Company, Visual Design
We are so fortunate to live in such an amazingly beautiful area surrounded by nature. I enjoy regularly hiking the beautiful trails that surround our canyon here at the base of Mount Tamalpais, sharing the bounty of organic locally grown food with good friends, catching a great film, live music and taking off for a daytrip out to the wilds of Pt. Reyes. I work in managment with a national yoga company and produce shows with local artists and designers. I treasure spending time with my 14 yr old son, always discovering new adventures around every corner.
