Studio Apt +wifi nr. Picasso Museum

Apartment - Entire home/apt · Carrer de les Candeles, Barcelona, Catalonia 08003, Spain

The perfect style and location: charming, quiet, comfortable, studio apartment, near the Picasso Museum in Barcelona's thriving fashionable historical centre. Read the many excellent reviews!

The Space

A fully-refurbished top-floor "attico" apartment with tiled floors, oak beams and lots of sunshine. Plus a modern kitchen, air-conditioning/heat etc and adjacent large communal terrace. In an amazingly convenient location. This apartment has a lot of unique character. It's compact (30m2) but has everything you need. And the communal terrace is great for drinks or meals outside. In addition to the double bed, there are two single mattresses and a single air-bed to go on the floor.

Internet Access
The apartment has its own dedicated high-speed wi-fi internet router (20mbit) - so you're fully connected during your stay, for work, entertainment or sharing Barcelona experiences with jealous friends!

nb. Stairs!
The apartment is on the fourth floor with steep steps, and no elevator - typical for Barcelona's old town. My fit 70 yr-old parents manage the stairs fine, at their own pace. and they appreciate that the location puts them a very short walk from everything they want to see but this apartment would not be suitable for anyone with mobility challenges. On the up side, the high position gives you lots of natural light and sun on the terrace, plus peace and quiet from the thriving street life when you need it.

The apartment is in an extremely prime location: near the Picasso museum in Barcelona's "El Born" old town. The charming historical alleys in this "barrio" are named after medieval trades: Candle makers, coffee roasters, wool spinners etc. There is an amazing fresh-produce market nearby (Santa Caterina) and beautiful historic cathedrals, Roman walls, gothic alleys, elegant palaces and hidden corners. All right on your doorstep. the cream of Europe's culture, design, boutiques, restaurants, arts etc on offer. hand/made shoes. gourmet burgers. free live music and dance. and of course lots of sexy and inspiring people. In this apartment you are right in the middle of it. A few minutes walk from everything Barcelona has to offer. The Gaudi architecture, the beach, the park, the cuisine, the nightlife, the whole atmosphere is amazing. Then hop on a train or hire a car and you can explore the Pyrenees mountains (3hours away) hiking and skiing. The vineyards, national parks, monasteries etc of Catalonia. Or even nip up to France (3hours away). Walking in the footsteps of Christopher Columbus, Picasso, Salvador Dali, George Orwell, Ernest Hemingway, Hercules, "Shadow of the Wind" and many more. Do I need to sell Barcelona to you? I've lived here for ten years. Movies and travel programmes often correctly rave about Barcelona but fail to capture exactly why we love being here day-to-day. For me, the following video best sums up the lifestyle that could be yours during your stay in this apartment! . . . (search Vimeo for "Barcelona Some Reasons") . . . the apartment is literally a 5 minute walk or cab ride from everything you see in this video.

For fans of Carlos Ruiz's wonderful novel "Shadow of the Wind", fyi, the apartment is located bang in the middle of all the exciting, mysterious and beautiful Barcelona locations in the story!

FInally, one of the apartment's best features is that it is beautifully quiet. Some flats are hard to relax or sleep in because Barcelona is a noisy city, especially in the centre. But this apartment is on a quiet alley, protected from the crowds and traffic, high up. and with double-glazed windows, air-conditioning and light-proof curtains. So even though you are located very near to everything, you can always have a good night´s sleep, relaxing lie-in or siesta after the night before!

  • Our stay in James's loft was amazing. It was our first visit to Barcelona and we were thrilled to discover the wonderful location of the apartment. You're practically in the center of all there is to do and within walking distance of everything else. There were some great quick eats just around the corner and a lovely organic bakery across the street that we went to every single day we were there (the canya bulgur pastry was too wonderful).

Once we were in the loft, it felt like home. Like some other reviews we read, it was sometimes difficult to get up and leave the loft because it was so comfortable. It's a very basic set up, meaning you have to go buy some basic toiletries (he leaves you towels, toilet paper, and laundry detergent). The bed was comfortable and there were plenty of blankets. Not to mention the terrace is beautiful.

Our only complain,t which isn't really a complaint, is that if you're someone who likes long hot showers and you're traveling with another person, make sure to give the water some time to heat up! Like most old buildings, I'm sure it just needs a little time to heat up more water.

Overall, James was super friendly and very accessible and helpful! The loft was perfect and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit to a Barcelona and would recommend this loft to anyone visiting in the future!

  • Our stay at Jame's apartment was delightful. The apartment is really cozy and is conveniently equipped. Moreover, the location is really central and makes it easy to reach most of the touristic attractions by foot. As previous comments mentioned, its on the 4th floor so it may be a bit tricky if your carrying big luggages...though, it compensates for all the tapas you are going to eat!
I will highly recommend this place for those who are seeking for having a break in Barca!

  • Me and my husband stayed at James apartment for 4 nights. James was an excellent host, easy to communicate with, helpful and flexible with check-in time. The apartment included everything you need for a short stay. The bathroom was a little bit small with the sink in the "living room", but to us it didn't matter because everything else was great and the location was perfect.

  • Our stay was great. The apartment was clean, quiet and functional. It is well located, in the heart of the old city of Barcelona, and metro (Jaume I) and supermarkets are very close. There is a long stairs but it is the price of staying in a historical and charming building. You will be outside enjoying the beautiful city of Barcelona anyway.
    Strongly recommend it !

  • Charming, clean and quiet apartment in a really perfect neighborhood. My boyfriend and I had a great time staying here and made good use of the kitchen and terrace. There's a superb market nearby for getting local produce, cheeses, meats, and the neighborhood has everything else you could otherwise want. We had trouble getting out and exploring other parts of the city some days because we felt so at home where we were!

James was a fantastic host, super responsive, and gave great recommendations for places to eat and things to do in the area. As other reviewers have noted, the stairs will give you a little bit of a workout but we weren't bothered by it (we live on a third-floor walkup in New York). Highly recommended!

  • Excellent location, 1 minute to a metro stop in one direction, 2 minutes to the picasso museum in the other. Close to great cafes, restaurants and a big food market. The apartment is spacious for a studio, the kitchen is well equipped and there is a washing machine and a dish-washer. The bathroom is small but there is plenty of hot water. There was a bit of a drain smell in the apartment but this is not an uncommon smell in Barcelona and it was not unbearable. The balcony is a nice place for a drink. As mentioned before the flights of stairs are very steep and quite narrow. Overall it was a great experience, you feel like you are really living in a typical Barcelona neighbourhood and get a great feel for the city. James was an excellent host, rapid helpful responses and great instructions. Thank-you for a great stay!

  • Location, location, location!
Seriously a lot of stairs, but that was no problem. Very quiet. A little bit dated, but we've had a great stay.

  • Great little apartment!
We spent 4 nights at James's apartment, it has everything you need - kitchen, AC, great WiFi, comfortable bed.
It's walking distance to everything but if you want to leave the center of town there's a metro station right at the end of the street!
We spent most of our time out and about but it was great having a quiet place to come back to.

About
I'm into music, movies, cooking and yoga. I lived in this apartment in my bachelor days and loved it. Now I've just moved to Montreal Canada, with wife Jacqueline and baby George, to be near family and I'm loving that too. We'll be back in Barcelona for visits next year. Until then, the apartment is available for you to enjoy and experience this amazing neighbourhood and city!
