  • My husband and I rented this unit to visit DC for Cherry Blossom week. Cannot say enough about how great this space was. Bed and linens comfortable. Well stocked with dishes, cutting board, microwave etc. Location is very convenient, about a 10 minute walk to DuPont Metro and surrounded by variety of places to eat and shop. If there was a drawback, it would be size of bathroom and shower. Not a big issue for us. Finally, check in was awesome! Front door and apartment door opened using codes Charlotte sent to us ahead of time. Made checking in seamless and did not depend on "open Hours".

Charlotte was a great host from start to finish. Responded very timely to our questions. Will definitely use her again.

  • My family and I loved our stay in this comfy apartment right in the heart of DC. Charlotte was quick to reply in helping us set up the reservation and answered all of our questions promptly. The apartment itself was as described, and very comfortable. Easy access to mass transit, great food and everything Washington has to offer were right outside our door. We'd definitely visit again. Thanks!

  • Nice. Clean. Good location. Good value. What's not to like?

  • This was our first Airbnb experience and a good one. Customer service throughout with Charlotte and Kevin was beyond excellent. They were very responsive throughout booking and the stay itself. The property was as described on Airbnb and we found reading all of the other reviews to be very helpful. Below is as summary and the high and low points of the apartment itself:

•Location. Close to Dupont Circle metro, a very nice grocer, and many nice and reasonably priced restaurants, coffee shops, etc.
•Convenience - great to have full kitchen and laundry on site. Dishwasher, clothes washer, cooktop, toaster, and microwave were all very serviceable and handy. Most fit/finish/furnishings were 15-20+ years old and of very average quality, but all was reliable and reasonably comfortable. Not a luxury apartment for sure.
•Nice shower with plenty of water.
•All was clean and the unit was well supplied with laundry soap, dish soap, toilet paper, kitchenware and supplies, etc.
•The price was a fair value.

Minor nuisances to be aware of in the interest of full disclosure:
•As nearly all other reviews have said, this a basement apartment with low ceilings. 5’10” is about as tall as you want to be. Be prepared to duck/crouch a fair bit if you’re taller than that.
•We struggled with the HVAC. There is no central thermostat for this apartment and most rooms have their own window A/C or electric baseboard heater with local switch. Even in March with pretty cool temperatures outside, we were generally too hot. This is mostly because there is a largish utility room within the center of the apartment with appliances that service other units within the building. The hot water heater and furnace (furnace used by units other than this one) threw off a fair amount of heat and were noisy as well. More on noise later. I would imagine that even though this is basement apartment that it may have insufficient cooling during warmer months.
•Noise. This is not a quiet place for various reasons. Air and ground traffic was pretty noisy. There is a physical rehab place right across the street that had heavy diesel ambulances loading and unloading at all hours. They don’t use sirens, but the ambulance engines are loud. Either the furnace or hot water heater squeaked quite a bit and could be bothersome when sleeping. There is what I imagined to be an air conditioning compressor outside the bedroom window (for another building possibly) that cycled quite a lot.
•There is (as of late March 2014) heavy renovation/construction going on directly next door. Using-a-crane heavy. Any they like to start work early!
•Lastly – the trash bins for the whole building are directly outside the front door of this unit and they may not be regularly emptied. Luckily for us it was 30-40 degrees out for most of our stay but I imagine this could be unpleasant in warmer weather.

  • We truly enjoyed our stay in DC at Charlotte's guest suite. It was a lovely inviting room, very private and quiet. The fridg and microwave made it easy to fix a quick meal before setting out for the day. The walk to the local market was quick and convenient as well as the walk to the bus stop. Beautiful , friendly neighborhood.

  • We had a wonderful stay in the Bird's Nest. Although it is a bit smaller than the pictures make it seem, it was more than enough room for two people. It was so nice to have a mini fridge, microwave, glassware and utensils for bringing home leftovers or storing stuff for a quick and easy cereal breakfast. It's in a great location for anyone who is visiting AU students. There are plenty of nice shops and restaurants right there on MacArthur. It's a simple trip to the D6 bus which will take you to the National Mall within about 30 minutes. Charlotte and Matthias were great hosts, very easy to communicate with and made the whole process very quick and simple. I'll definitely stay here again next time I make a trip to DC to visit my brother.

  • The condo was great! Clean and beautifully decorated! Everything you need is there. It is so close to the museums that I was able to walk. A great little coffee shop is right around the corner too!

  • I truly enjoyed the bird's net, charming, clean and very pleasant to stay. The host was very helpful and attentive to what I might have need. I recommend it with no doubt.
