Williamsburg, currently one of New York's hippest neighborhoods, is an unlikely amalgam of small houses, warehouses, clubs, coffee shops (LOTS of coffee shops) galleries, new condominiums, dozens of restaurants, a wonderful book shop, bars, performance spaces, a world-class cheese shop, thrift stores, clothing boutiques, and looming remnants of the New York waterfront's industrial past.
Our apartment is on North 7th Street, two and a half blocks from the Bedford Ave stop on the L train, the first stop in Brooklyn and a 5-minute ride from Union Square. It's a half-block from the East River State Park, which has summer concerts and a spectacular view of the Manhattan skyline. An esplanade runs south along the river. From a landing at North 6th Street there’s ferry service to various stops in Manhattan and Brooklyn. There's a running track in nearby McCarren Park and a bike path along Kent Avenue. At the end of our block, every weekend between April and November, there's Smorgasburg: an outdoor artisanal food market where approximately 75 vendors sell both packaged and prepared food, from pulled pork sandwiches to fried anchovies and heavenly donuts (Saturdays). On Sundays, there's the open-air Brooklyn Flea, a mix of booths selling vintage, antique, and handmade goods, as well as food vendors.
We supply sheets and towels.
We don't charge a cleaning fee.
We speak French, German, and Italian.
The apartment has:
* a private entrance through our garden
* two bedrooms with queen-sized beds
* a complete and fully stocked kitchen
* tons of sunlight
* free wifi
* DVD player (no TV)
We had a very good in Bob's apartment!!
LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bob and Patrizia were excellent hosts! We arrived with ease thanks to his travel guide and explored the neighborhood thanks to his wonderful food and shopping suggestions! The place was tidy and perfect amount of space for a 2 bedroom. Perfect location amidst wonderful coffee, restaurants, bars, and local shopping! Love Williamsburg and Bobs place!
Me and my 3 friends had a comfortable 2 day stay at The Institute, thanks to Bob and Patrizia for making it an effortless experience! For the price and location none of the surrounding hotels could beat this.
This is a great, comfortable, clean apartment in the perfect location in Williamsburg. We felt like we were coming home to our own place after long days exploring the city every day, and there were so many fabulous restaurants right around the corner whichever way you walk. Bob and Ashton were very welcoming and made check in and check out very easy. They also offered a baby portacot and high chair for our one year old, which was fantastic for us. The place felt big enough for the four of us for a week, which is an amazing thing in NYC! We will definitely stay here again in the future.
We had a great time at Bob's place. The appartment is really nice, and its location in Williamsburg is amazing. Very cool, fun, and friendly place. We especially enjoyed the world of food at the Smorgasburg in the (very hip) Brooklyn Flea which is around the corner on weekends!
My stay at the Institute was fabulous. Bob et al were very helpful, providing lots of information ahead of time about the 'hood, and meeting me at the apartment with keys.
The apartment itself is great, and provided the perfect home base for my trip to New York for both business and pleasure. Comfy beds, working wifi, and my own fridge only a quick walk from restaurants, bars, breweries, shops, the subway, and other nearby Brooklyn neighborhoods featuring a seemingly endless array of always open delights.
I can't imagine a scenario where I wouldn't try to stay here when visiting New York in the future.
We choose this property because it was only steps from our daughter. My husband, son, his wife and I stayed here through the 2013 Thanksgiving holiday. The apartment was clean, comfortable and convenient to the great shops, restaurants and bars that make Williamsburg so much fun. Just a short walk and you are at the subway, grab the L and you are in Nee York City.
We had the most wonderful stay at the institute! You guys were incredibly welcoming and thoughtful. The place was clean and cozy, perfect for our party of 4. I would absolutely love to stay here again and would definitely recommend this lovely home to friends visiting New York. This was not just a place to stay, we felt like we were welcome into a friends home. Thanks again for everything!
Five nights in New York City and The Institute was the perfect accommodation. Hosts were very responsive, but left guests plenty of privacy. Location is hard to beat with great views, food, shopping and public transport close by.
