Clarenbridge (8 km) is famous for it's Oyster Festival, it's boutiques, and restaurants. It leads onto the Burren, famous for it's exciting seascapes and limestone hills. Be sure to travel along the coast road through Kinvara, Ballyvaughan, and onto Doolin. If you don't have a car, why not tour Connemara and the Burren by bus.

Connemara with the beautiful towns of Clifden and Oughterard can be reached by car or by tour from Galway.

Guest Access

Want to cycle around the local area? Ardfry, Maree, and Tawin are bird watchers favourites. If you give me some notice, I shall arrange a bike or two.

Interaction with Guests

I live next door and work in Galway. You will have the cottage and its garden to yourself.
I can answer your questions about the area and help you find what ever it is you are looking for.

The Neighborhood

This is a coastal area dominated by numerous peninsulae. Bird watchers love the variety of species that migrate through the area. Brent geese on Tawin, lately egrets in Ardfry.
Tawin has a strong historical connection with Rodger Casement.

Getting around

Oranmore has numerous bus connections to Dublin, Limerick, Cork, and of course, Galway itself.
For more local travel, check with me to organise some bikes, which are ideal for local travel to Oranmore, Clarenbridge, and Kilcolgan.

  • The cottage was beautiful and had a fantastic kitchen. The view from the garden was incredible! This was a great spot for us to base ourselves out of to visit all the points we wanted to visit, like Galway city, Connemara Ntl. Park, horseback riding from Cleggan Riding Centre to Omey Island, and the School of Falconry at Ashford Castle. We had a really wonderful time every day and looked forward to coming back to the cottage to watch the sunset and relax. Looking forward to coming back!

  • What a lovely place to stay! Quiet and secluded, a beautiful beach, and wifi! A wonderful holiday :)

  • Rory's cottage is a perfect location to relax and enjoy all of Galway & Clare. There are great views of the water from inside the house and he has put a little table and chairs down on the rocky beach so you can fully appreciate the sunsets, which are spectacular. The home had plenty of room for four people. Rory is very kind and welcoming.

The only downsides are when you take a shower it's impossible not to get the entire bathroom floor wet, and the wifi router needed restarting often (since it's in the shed it's a bit of an inconvenience.

  • I've spend few days in Rory's cottage with 3 friends of mine and i must say that we had a lovely time.
The cottage has a little garden on the border of the sea where you can relax if you want to and if you want to party and go to the pub Gallway is just 15 mn by car.
Rory was really friendly and welcomed us warmly.
In brief, i recommend this place.

  • We spent 1 week in seashore cottage &we had a really wonderful time. The cottage is lovely and although it's not that far from Oranmore village or indeed Galway city it's very quiet and very scenic.

Rory was the perfect host without being intrusive.

  • My friend and I spent 5 nights at seashore cottage and really loved it.

It is a beautiful house with the garden overlooking the sea and direct access to the sea bank. The house was really big for both of us and had general things needed. The kitchen was big enough to cook real meal. We even cooked meal some night.

Rory is a great host. He make sure that we had every thing. Offers us tea when we arrived and wine the day we left. He also gave us tips, what to see and guides that were very helpful. The only thing I regret is the fact that I did not stay longer.

I highly recommend Rory and Seashore Cottage. I've already recommend it to my friends and family.
