The Space

Cottage on the shore of Galway Bay.

Kitchen, Living Room area, Bathroom, 2 bedrooms., and parking

Convenient to Galway city, Connemara, and the Burren. 8 mins from the motorway. 2 miles from Oranmore village.

Clarenbridge (8 km) is famous for it's Oyster Festival, it's boutiques, and restaurants. It leads onto the Burren, famous for it's exciting seascapes and limestone hills. Be sure to travel along the coast road through Kinvara, Ballyvaughan, and onto Doolin. If you don't have a car, why not tour Connemara and the Burren by bus.

Connemara with the beautiful towns of Clifden and Oughterard can be reached by car or by tour from Galway.

Galway is a vibrant city, with great shopping and night life. There is always something new to discover there. The upcoming festivals in Galway are:

Galway Oyster Festival end of September 2013
On the last weekend of September each year, the picturesque town of Galway hosts the Galway International Oyster Festival, one of the biggest events in Ireland's social calendar. A feast of live entertainment, gourmet food, fine wine and of course Oysters and Guinness are enjoyed by some 10,000 people with guests and luminaries from all over the world.

Attention Artists:
Georgette Farrell runs art classes (both in English and French) in Ballynacloughy, Maree. Morning classes for adults, and afternoon classes for children. She provides materials and courseware for students.

Attention Golfers:
The cottage is very close to Galway Bay Golf Resort and Rinville Park. Visitors to Galway Bay Golf Resort can enjoy a round of golf by the sea at enviable prices. Please check the green fees their website. There are different rates for:

Guest Access

Want to cycle around the local area? Ardfry, Maree, and Tawin are bird watchers favourites. If you give me some notice, I shall arrange a bike or two.

Interaction with Guests

I live next door and work in Galway. You will have the cottage and its garden to yourself.
I can answer your questions about the area and help you find what ever it is you are looking for.

The Neighborhood

This is a coastal area dominated by numerous peninsulae. Bird watchers love the variety of species that migrate through the area. There are large colonies of seals at Tawin and in Oranmore Bay. Brent geese on Tawin, lately egrets in Ardfry.
Tawin has a strong historical connection with Rodger Casement. He supported the founding of the local national school (now a private residence).

Getting Around

Oranmore has numerous bus connections to Dublin, Limerick, Cork, and of course, Galway itself.
For more local travel, check with me to organise some bikes, which are ideal for local travel to Oranmore, Clarenbridge, and Kilcolgan.

Other Things to Note

Wifi is available on Apple Network.
The password is apple1234.

The cottage is self catering with full kitchen, living area, and two double bedrooms.
There is extra sleeping accommodation on request.

House Rules

Please do not step in the fish pond. It is very slippy and the fish find it confusing.

No parties, Seashore Cottage does have a barbecue and garden area, which are best enjoyed in peace and tranquility.

I would prefer if smoking was pursued out of doors.

No Pets... we can't accommodate pets as there are cats in the vicinity.
