Blackheath is still a quiet village - it doesn't have the weekend crowds of some of the other more touristy villages. The village has loads of character and charm - your visit will feel relaxed.
The cottage is located on the edge of Blackheath - five minutes from the station. There are a dozen great cafes and excellent restaurants, and two pubs that serve meals. Blackheath is renowned for its galleries, craft studios and artisans, including a glass blowers studio, a jewelry gallery, an antiques emporium to browse, and many local artists who display their work around the village. Not forgetting the markets days on the 1st & 2nd Sunday of the month - get there early!
And further afield it is only a ten minute drive (or a short train or bus ride) to the more touristy towns of Katoomba and Leura. There you’ll find larger supermarkets, interesting Cultural Centre and Art Gallery, the Scenic Railway and Three Sisters. Leura is famous for its gardens, galleries, boutiques and cafes. Also locally is horse riding, abseiling and canyoning. In the other direction are the spectacular Jenolan Caves and Mt Tomah Gardens. The mountains has a huge variety of attractions – something for everyone.
Train station is a 5 minute drive away with ta(phone number hidden)) available in the village. And the bushwalks start right on the doorstep.

The cottage was the perfect getaway from Sydney. Set amongst the bush it was beautiful & cosy. The fire was set up ready to be lit on our arrival, we had a great stay here! Keith greeted us when we arrived and offered some great advice on local walks. Blackheath just up the road for shopping & great coffee!
We stayed in the cottage for a long weekend, and found it was just what we hoped for. Keith came and said hello and pointed us toward some brilliant views just a short walk from the cottage itself. The finishing touches inside are lovely, and we are able to cook, use the fire, and get a good night's sleep.
Blackheath itself it lovely too. There are a couple of nice cafes and restaurants.
We made a last minute decision to get some natural solace - that only nature can provide - with our newborn.
Keith's self-built farm cottage was amazing and the surrounding environment just the same.

The cottage was built by Keith himself and you can tell a lot of love went into it. The furnishings make you feel right at home. We had a lovely stay.

Keith and Sharyn were fantastic hosts and the cottage was perfect. Thanks for an amazing weekend and also for the lift in to town for dinner on Friday! It was so nice to be out in the bush and within walking distance to what we all thought were the best views around! Can't wait to come back.
