Interaction with guests

Blackheath is still a quiet village - it doesn't have the weekend crowds of some of the other more touristy villages. The village has loads of character and charm - your visit will feel relaxed.
The cottage is located on the edge of Blackheath - five minutes from the station. There are a dozen great cafes and excellent restaurants, and two pubs that serve meals. Blackheath is renowned for its galleries, craft studios and artisans, including a glass blowers studio, a jewelry gallery, an antiques emporium to browse, and many local artists who display their work around the village. Not forgetting the markets days on the 1st & 2nd Sunday of the month - get there early!
And further afield it is only a ten minute drive (or a short train or bus ride) to the more touristy towns of Katoomba and Leura. There you’ll find larger supermarkets, interesting Cultural Centre and Art Gallery, the Scenic Railway and Three Sisters. Leura is famous for its gardens, galleries, boutiques and cafes. Also locally is horse riding, abseiling and canyoning. In the other direction are the spectacular Jenolan Caves and Mt Tomah Gardens. The mountains has a huge variety of attractions – something for everyone.
Train station is a 5 minute drive away with taxis () available in the village. And the bushwalks start right on the doorstep.

Our family loves the environment that the Blue Mountains provides. We enjoy the local bushwalks, the serenity, the vistas and the wildlife. And we're happy to share it with you.
We have lived in Blackheath area for almost twenty years now and have an excellent knowledge of all things Blue Mountains. From the local bushwalks, to the arts, growing food and cooking are my passions.
We volunteer in local organisations and this helps to ensure we are a part of the local community. We keep chickens and a large veggie garden (this year we've planted lots of garlic and shallots to share with our co-op), a small orchard and have recently planted hazelnut trees.
Please feel free to contact us if you have any queries - we will gladly answer any questions you have about Blackheath, bushwalking or our cottage :) And welcome to Blackheath and the Blue Mountains!
