Morganne, Charlie and their dog Maddie were lovely hosts. My partner Julian and I felt very comfortable in their home. We really enjoyed spending time in their beautifully maintained garden with a magnificent view over town. We were even treated to some homemade cake! We would highly recommend staying at this airbnb.
This is my first Airbnb experience, charlie and Morganne have a charming home in hills of Santee. It was a great place to relax and find some peace of mindful. The property looks exactly like the pictures, the landscaping and views are as promised. The hosts were warm and welcoming, and respectful of privacy requests. I had some pleasant talks over breakfast with Morganne, as she offered breakfast everyday. To sum up, very affordable, you feel like your at home, and a tranquil get away.
We loved our stay at Charlie and Morganne's house. Such a beautiful place located in the hills with gorgeous views of the valley. The room we stayed in was clean and smelled really good. Their house has a very zen-like atmosphere and quite and peaceful at night. Would definitely recommend to friends.
Charlie and Morganne's house was a nice retreat from the city while still being close. I really enjoyed sitting in the front yard overlooking the mountains. They were welcoming and accommodating and I would not hesitate to stay with them again.
Charlie and Morganne made our first experience with Airbnb memorable. They went out of their way to make us comfortable. They gave us great ideas to make our time in San Diego so much fun. The room and private bath was just what we wanted. More than anything, we feel like we've made new friends.
Let me first start off by saying my husband and I use airbnb all the time when we travel, and we host also. We had a horrible experience at Charlie and Morgannes home. From the time we arrived, we felt completely uncomfortable. Charlie barely spoke to us, and even looked at us as if he were uncomfortable with us staying in his home. He showed us the room, opened up the bathroom door and show us the bathroom, then said "any questions?", and never spoke to us again. He did not show us the common area (which we found wierd). My husband came out of the room and asked him if he had chickens on the property as there was a picture of chickens in their profile. He stated "we have never had chickens". This is false advertisement!!! My husband and I went in the bedroom, locked the door, and debated if we should leave and get a hotel. We found our greeting to be very "cold" to say the least. We went out to a movie hours later to get out of there for a while with hopes that Morganne would be more friendly. As we drove down the driveway and realized she was there we got excited. She quickly waved at us then turned her back to her. We again felt uncomfortable that both host were very unfriendly. As we were driving back from the movies that night at 11pm, I worried about our safety returning back to Charlie and Morgannes property. Once we got into the room, I went to sleep and my husband stayed up all night watching me sleep as he was too afraid to sleep due to our safety concerns.
I would not recommend anyone to stay with this host. They falsely advertise and are not great hosts. We read through the guest book located in the room and found that they were friendly to all other guest. I believe that the coldness, and poor hospitality was due to our race (2 successful African American)
Hello (email hidden) sorry you had a bad experience..We have had many happy and satisfied guests as you can see by all of our great reviews and also by all the wonderful notes our guests have left in our guest book.. Some of which were written by African Americans. We are not racist as our guests have been of many different ethnicities. Morganne's son is actually mixed from his black father. We actually enjoy meeting many different people. If we had any kind problem with you we would have declined your reservation request.
I am saddened that you found the common area "weird" as we enjoy that space and many of our guests do too. I'm sorry that there was a photo of our local neighborhood ducks on our photo page that I was not aware of so when you asked me about chickens I was taken aback and thought you must have confused another profile with ours. I was not "falsely advertising"anything. And why have you forgotten our conversation about fishing where I told you all about fishing opportunities at our local lakes and the Ocean Beach Pier.
The neighborhood here is the safest place I have ever lived and since I moved here in 2003 I have never experienced a negative safety issue of any kind nor have I heard of any from my neighbors.
From Morganne- I am shocked! I never even met you! But, I was hoping to talk with you but work was in the way that day and you only stayed one night.
I will respond to you...when you were driving down the hill to leave I was on the phone and on my way in. I waved at you as you were on your way out, it seemed very natural to me. I was preoccupied with my phone call which is why I lingered
outside before coming in... where I expected to greet you. To my surprise you were leaving before I could greet you. I may have turned around to respond to the person I was conversing with. I never though for a moment you would be offended since you could see I was busy standing off to the side yard attempting to respect your space by not coming in until I was off the phone. Assuming you were heading out for dinner and sites and not concerned with me. I really didn't think it was a big deal. I was hoping to talk with you later but you didn't come back. You see I am a breast cancer patient and I know you work in that field. It would have been lovely if we connected but you came back late. The next morning I was gone early you were still in bed. It should be understood, we can't always spend the same amount of time with every guest because sometimes our schedules don't match. Most people are not so concerned with us and just want a room when the arrive because they are tired my husband tries to be quick about it but occasionally we do have a guest with different expectations. It bothers me that you let your imagination ran wild, to me it seems absolutely crazy in my mind that your husband had to stay up all night watching you. What were you afraid of? I can only think maybe you just had a cultural, personality issue, or have experienced racism in that past that tainted your clear seeing. I was married to a black man at one time. Something triggered you it seems. I will also say that we welcomed you and many other strangers our home with great risk to us and you really ought to be gracious and respectful. And to turn a try to hurt our reputation is not very nice of you. I think it's "weird" that you just throw out the race card when confused or lack understanding. And to all that reads this I am very irritated by this person and I am especially hurt to be called a racist by a person who has never met me. Also, we don't have chickens the picture is of the ducks from the pond nearby which you can go see if you had asked.
Charlie and Morganne made us welcome but we're not intrusive or overbearing. The neighborhood was very quiet and apparently safe, as they did not lock the doors to the house even at night. This was a bit disconcerting to us. However, we enjoyed the lovely views and relaxed atmosphere of their home. We also enjoyed good conversation and getting to know them. Thanks!
I know Charlie said we "always leave the door open" it was actually an over generalization. Actually we do lock the doors at night behind our guests. But we tend to leave them open for our guests during the day. I work at home so it works out.
