Located a short jaunt from the tidal banks of the Puget Sound, this rambler home is in the cozy neighborhood of Arbor Heights in West Seattle.

You'll have great access to West Seattle, White Center, Georgetown, and the City of Seattle. And you'll be close to beaches, parks, and the ferry to Vashon Island!

The guest house is connected to Rain City Clay, a small art center with fun clay experiences.

Enjoy an artful, comfortable home with handmade dishes, and maybe book a clay class!

The space
Rain City Hide-away is 1940's single-level home sharing one wall with Rain City Clay - a fabulous small community ceramics studio in the middle of a neighborhood.

There is one designated Airbnb parking space in front of the wooden fence surrounding the small private patio in front of the house. Right in front of the house, here is a 12"x14" blue sign saying "Private Residence Parking" in the single space allotted for AIB B&B Guests.

When you arrive, you'll enter from the south, through the gate, and pass through the patio area. Then, there are three steps up to the front entrance that lead into a spacious living room with an adjoining dining area and full kitchen.

The kitchen is well-stocked and fun to cook in. There are lots of cabinets, a standard refrigerator, a dishwasher, and a gas range. There are plenty of common appliances - a microwave, coffee maker, toaster, and more. There is also an outdoor gas grill and a four-person patio table set as well.

The welcoming living room has board games and a small collection of books. The main heat source for the house is electric Envi heaters in the bedrooms and a gas insert fireplace in the living room.

The bathroom has all the basics, as does the laundry room.

The street out front runs east-west and the bus stops on it 1/2 a block away.

Guest access
Parking Notes: There is free, designated parking for 1 vehicle right in front of the house. There is also neighborhood parking and there are usually 5-10 spaces in front of the adjacent clay studio.

Other things to note
There are perks to being close to a clay studio!
Consider adding a clay experience to your Seattle adventure.

Neighborhood highlights

West Seattle is situated between the Puget Sound and the Duwamish River, southwest of the Seattle City Center and immediately west of the Duwamish River.

It is a conglomeration of small neighborhoods within the city of Seattle proper. In 1902, it was incorporated as an independent town and annexed by Seattle five years later. Among the area's attractions are its gorgeous saltwater beach parks, among them Alki Beach Park and Lincoln Park. The area is also known for its views of the Olympic Mountains to the west and the Cascade Range to the east. One-third of Seattle's green space and urban forest is located in West Seattle, much of it in the West Duwamish Greenbelt.

West Seattle has several junctions with delightful eateries, shops, and essentials. These are only a mile or two away. Other nearby neighborhoods that are fun to visit are White Center, Georgetown, and Burien – and of course, downtown Seattle!

Next door to the Rain City Clay House, there is a 3-plex condo unit with quiet neighbors.

I am a studio potter and manage a small art center named Rain City Clay. My time is spent working with clay for the most part, but I am also a novice beekeeper, tend my chickens, love music, and cooking. One of my favorite things is having dinner parties with friends.
