Kestrel Cottage was built in 2019 with modern features designed to deliver that island feel Exuma is famous for. Located in Old Hooper's Bay - a private enclave of residences - this timeless 2 Bedroom cottage has everything you need for a quiet getaway. The views are spectacular. An exclusive beach is three properties from your door. Groceries and Mike's Pizza are walking distance. George Town is just a 9 minute drive. Guests love our beach park, solitude, views, and the romantic setting.

The space
We loved this place from the second we walked in. The high ceilings with natural wood and white beams really make it feel Caribbean. The views are amazing - and there are lots of windows. We like to hang out on the deck in the hammock and have our morning coffee out there.

The bedroom shares the same sea view - right from your King-sized bed. It's connected to the cottage's upper bathroom so you have direct access from your room as well as the living room. The walk-in closet is great for storing your luggage and hanging up the fancier pieces of your wardrobe, but there's a large dresser that will easily accommodate over-packers. Another closet conceals a stacked clothes washer and dryer. You have your choice of air conditioning or local breeze.

In 2022 we added a second full bedroom on the lower level with an ensuite 3PC bathroom. This space keeps the island vibe going and is perfect for a second couple or older children (this bedroom has a separate outdoor entrance from upstairs). Its equipped with a queen-sized bed, TV, ceiling fan, and AC.

Our kitchen is classic Bahamas with a custom countertop and baby blue cabinetry. It's bright and convenient with an adjacent dining table and seating for four. You can open up all the windows and enjoy the breeze or - if it's really hot - close the windows and turn on the common area AC.

The open concept means that you can lounge on the sofa and talk with the chef. You can play cards and still watch TV (if you really need it).

All the floors are smooth, marble tile. They stay cool and are easy to clean. The bathroom shower is done in the same tile and comes with towels.

Kestrel cottage is fun, stylish, romantic, and hard to leave.

Guest access
Our driveway has parking for 2-3 cars. Remember, it's a private road so make sure if you are entertaining guests, they pull into your drive. It's less than 2 minutes to walk to the beach and private park. We recommend that you rent a car but there is a grocery store and pizza restaurant a short walk over the hill.

Other things to note
There's only a handful of property owners and their guests who have access to Old Hooper's Bay Park and Beach via our private road. The beach and park are perfect for picnic lunches, snacks, drinks, or sunrise coffee. Leave your flip flops on the stone wall and take a swim in the crystal clear water! For even more fun, take a cruise on our two person kayak or paddle boards and go see the Turtles in Old Hooper's Bay!
