The space

This Old Portland-style home is in one of the most vibrant neighborhoods in town. Born 1906, fully renovated in 2006, this home contains the features associated with green, healthy home environments. Great walking area. Central to everything.

Minutes to downtown and east side business districts. Easy freeway access as well as on major public transportation routes. Great walking neighborhood! Cafes, coffee chops, restaurants, brew-pubs within blocks. Live music venues nearby. Walk to Hawthorne, Hollywood and Irvington.

Garden level room with double (aka full) bed with memory foam topper. You control the heating in your room. This house was rebuilt in 2006 and features low-VOC paint, low-VOC carpets/pads, lead free, with filtered water in kitchen, formaldehyde-free insulation, seismically reinforced. Non-smoking. Shoeless indoors.
There are 1.5 bathrooms to be shared between the 2 AirBnB rooms, separate from that of the house residents.

Smoke and CO2 alarms throughout the house and a sprinkler system. First aid kit and fire extinguisher are in the kitchen.

The living room and dining room are available to all.
Shoe racks located behind front door and immediately outside to facilitate a shoe-free household.

Kitchen use is permitted. When possible we ask that you cook any meats on the gas grill right outside on the back deck.

My goal is to greet guests on arrival rather than to use the lock box whenever possible.
You have usually come with an agenda for work or for leisure, and I have one, too. If our paths can cross during your stay that would be great.

This neighborhood is one of the best in Portland for walking, for outdoor cafe and restaurant seating, for exploring. Over 90 restaurants, bars, and cafes within a 1/2 mile!

Many TriMet bus routes within easy walking distance of the house. When you come from the airport, for example, the bus that you transfer to drops you off right around the corner from the house. The same bus route will take you into downtown.

Car sharing services abound here in Portland. We have Car2Go, ZipCar and Reach.

If you are a group of 4 - 5 see both of the rooms I list as they can be reserved as a block. Message me separately, please for the combined quote.
A fold-out single mattress pad and a sofa bed allow for more guests under these circumstances.

Sue's home is the perfect spot for enjoying the true Portland. Super close to all that NE 28th has to offer (including Portland's best Cuban restaurant), easy access to everything via Portland's famously efficient bus system, and the charm of a much-loved neighborhood. The accommodations are gracious and the kitchen well-stocked. Definitely going to stay here again.

Sue's home is exactly as it is described. It is comfortable and inviting. Sue is an effective and thorough communicator, and she is very pleasant to talk to- not to mention she is super helpful! I would definitely recommend Sue and her home.

I had a fantastic time in Sue's accommodations while I was staying in Portland! Absolutely loved the location, about 15 minutes by bus from the heart of downtown, but Sue's neighborhood had countless hip restaurants and shops and things to do within walking distance. Bus stops right near by made it incredibly easy to get to and from downtown as well. My room was comfy, clean, and quiet which was perfect for relaxing when I got home for the evening. Sue was a fantastic host! She gave me so many good recommendations for restaurants to go to and things to do that enhanced my first trip to Portland. Sue does like to get to know her guests, which I appreciated very much and is part of the reason that makes staying with AirBnB so unique.

Sue's home is a warm environment with vibrant decor. She provides all of the kitchen amenities you could want for cooking, and the room was quiet with a comfortable bed. You walk in the door and feel stress diminish. Sue is a gracious host who is friendly and helpful, and provides guides for things to do in Portland. I highly recommend Sue, and plan to stay with her again the next time I am in Portland.
