We had a great time at Carine's apartment. The location is very good in terms of connecting to different touristy hotspots. Traveling with kids, the laundy inside the apartment was a huge help. Laurence, who manages the apartment was very responsive and patient in explaining everything. She provided all the necessary information from start to finish. The sofa bed is a bit ricketty but after all the walking in Paris a good place to crash out nonetheless. Thanks!
Thank you Carine! Our stay in your apartment was fantastic.
From the outset Carine gave us all the information we needed in order to make sure we felt comfortable for our arrival time, how to get there and to see if there were any other tips we need to make our journey to her apartment safe and smooth. I didn't realise it at the time but confirming all the details up front, weeks before our arrival made it such a breeze on the day (compared to ther hosts who can be difficult to contact or make the arrival day stressful and chaotic).
She put us in touch straight away with Laurence who looks after the apartment and Laurence was very efficient and helpful even though we were running a bit late on arrival. It's professional and managed much the same way as a real holiday rental.
There are only 2 down sides to the apartment (let's get them out of the way first):
1. There are 6 flights of stairs to take your luggage up to the 3rd floor apartment because there is no elevator (which is fine cause you only have to do it once and surprisingly didn't bother us for leaving/returning to the apartment evey day).
2. As you've probably read on some of the other reviews already, the bathroom roof is really low (I'm 6'3/189cm) which we're not used to but doesn't impact your stay for more than 10-15 minutes a day, really.
Everything was like the pictures and description say. The apartment is beautiful and comfortable. Laurence showed us how to use everything very clearly (washing/drying machine, an espresso coffee machine, shower, toilet etc). And everything works as it should.
The sofa bed (which I slept on) is SUPER comfortable if you like a firmer mattress.
It was bright and airy cause you can open the windows you feel so Parisian eating your brekkie (or sipping your chilled rosé!) at the window and watching the French street life go by below. We even got serenaded by a lovely impromptu concert one day!
A tip for you: you might see soldiers stationed outside the apartment - they're there because there's a school next door and the guards are there to protect the kids so the area is safe both day and night.
Speaking of the area - you will love it. It's in the heart of Paris, still away from the masses of tourists and most importantly right next to Paris' most up and coming, beautiful cafes so you can feel as chic as you always dreamed! Two metro stops are super close by which means the rest is Paris is almost as your door.
And after some pretty poor stays in other airbnb places, I suggest you book to stay here immediately. :)
Oh and the wifi is strong and fast too.
We had an incredible stay here, so a huge thank you to Laurence and Carine! Keep up the good work, ladies. Bisous!
This place was amazing and made our honeymoon in Paris that much more special.
You can't beat the location - the street itself is quiet enough where you're not bombarded with road noise, yet by walking just one block down you're on the main Boulevard with tons of cafés, stores, and the Metro. Walking a few blocks the other way brings you to a quaint little area with dozens of great restaurants - it was sort of like Greenwich Village, for those familiar with New York City. We explored probably 75% of Paris on our trip, and we would pick this same location for future visits - it's central to everything. The Metro lets you get anywhere within 30-40 minutes, from Montmarte's Sacre Couer to the Eiffel Tower. The grocery store is a minute away and has everything you need.
The apartment itself is clean and updated. The four flights of stairs was rough a few nights after a long day of exploring, but the building itself is safe and in good repair. Really nothing to complain about - the pictures are very accurate. We were only two people, but I COULD see it being a little tight with 4 adults (2 on the pull-out couch).
It's not a complaint (we're not tall people) but more an FYI - the bathroom is a step up from the bedroom, and there's not much head room. If you're pushing 6-feet tall, you might have to duck down a little. Further, the shower is a hand-held, mounted at knee-level. So you have to hold it with one hand while washing with the other. Maybe this is common in Europe. We didn't really care.
Honestly for the price alone it beats any hotel - but the other non-tangible is having a "home" in a city like Paris. We really felt like, for a week, we lived in this amazingly beautiful city, which again made our honeymoon much more special. And Laurence was great - punctual, told us all about the place, and was very nice. One thing she forgot to mention was that when coming in at night, in the lobby there is a small push-button that turns on the light. Then on the first floor a second push-button (looks like a doorbell) turns on the other stairway lights.
I just absolutely loved staying in this apartment in Le Marais. It's in a nice, quiet street, located close to the Metro, with the hustle & bustle of the Marais only a short walk away. The apartment was clean & cosy & the interiors were typically French & as for that amazing blue door.....tres chic!
Thank you to Laurence for allowing me to drop my bags off a little bit early. It was much appreciated.
We loved this area in Paris and felt very comfortable at Carines flat. We were welcomed by Laurence and she helped us get familiar with the apartment. All in all it was a great time, the only problem we had was one night the people in the apartment below us made a lot of noise, but Carine assured us this was not common at all. Otherwise, we found it to be quiet. The bathroom is super, super small, so if you are over 5'10" or more it won't be comfortable to shower. And remember to bring basics like soap, shampoo, etc. Le Marais is probably my most favorite area in Paris and Carines place suited me and my 2 teenage daughters just fine.
This is a gem ! we so loved the area and the flat, it was very spacious clean and in the perfect location, we would loved to have stayed longer. We were met and given all the details about the area and the flat. we were so close to the rail and walking distance to great little cafes and Le Marias. We are recommenfing this to all our friends and cannot wait to come back!!
we loved waking up every morning to the big windows and feeling like we lived there.
Warm welcome. Nice accomodations. Clean. Lots of sunlight. Love the neighborhood. Quiet street. I would definitely stay here again.
About the Host, Carine
My name is Carine and I have been living in New York for 20 years. I bought this lovely apt in Paris as i travel back often and wanted a home "away from home". My husband and i put all of our hearts into making it a lovely, cozy, comfortable place. We travel extensively, and most often use vacation rentals as we're tired of hotels. Years of vacation rental experience (very good and very bad ones ;) allowed us to set up this home for you. We tried to think of every possible detail, in order to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.... we love this apartment and hope you'll love it too!
