Where you’ll be

Pucón, Araucania, Chile

The area of El Papal is characterized by its tranquility and beautiful views of the mountains and forests.

The loft is located less than 10k from several thermal centers (Pucón Indómito, Peumayén, Huife, among others), the Sanctuary el Cañi and the Llancalil Lagoon. It is also close to Huerquehue National Park.

El Cañi Sanctuary

“Vision that transforms”, this is the meaning of El Cañi, a natural sanctuary located just 8 km from the loft. In this reserve, you can discover lagoons of volcanic origin, coihues and araucarias. From the Melidekiñ viewpoint, which can be reached in approximately 4 hours of medium-high intensity trekking, you can enjoy a spectacular view of the mountains, volcanoes and lakes.
In winter, the landscape is transformed by snow and although the hike is a little more technical, it is worth it.
Admission is between 8:30 and 11:00 and the daily capacity is 100 people, so booking is recommended.

From the loft, turn right, and take a left on the paved road to the access, just before the Kod Kod restaurant. You can sign up, and park closer to the start of the trail, leaving your vehicle in a private parking lot ($3,000 approx.).

Laguna Llancalil

Just 12 minutes from the loft, Llancalil is a lagoon surrounded by mountains, a beautiful and quiet place, attended by the charming Joselita. Ideal for sup or kayaking, bird watching and resting or spending the day in the shade of the quinchos. Pets are not allowed because birds nest in the reeds.

Parque Huerquehue Huerquehue

National Park is 18 km from the loft. A day hike allows you to discover lagoons, araucaria forests, and with a little luck some of the protected species that the park hosts, such as the Valdivian mouse, the choroy or the Darwin frog. It is recommended to arrive early due to capacity restrictions, and to enjoy this wonderful place.

From the loft, turn right and then right again onto Route S907. After 1.6 km, turn left onto S911 and drive 3.9 km. Turn right onto S975 and drive 6.7 km to the Conaf office.

Kulatrayken Park

Very close to the loft, Kulatrayken Park is a small reserve manned by its owners, where you can walk a short trail through the forest (about 20 minutes) and discover 3 waterfalls. Arriving upstairs, there is a restaurant open in high season, where crepes and fresh pasta are served, a lagoon with a water slide, floating dock and the possibility of using an sup, a play area and a circuit for sports. Highly recommended!

From the loft, turn right and then right again onto S907. After 1.6 km, turn left onto S911 and continue approximately 600 m until the junction towards 3 jumps. From there, travel 1.3 to the access, which is signposted.

Termas de Peumayén

These are our favorite hot springs, they are very close to the loft and its Fleur de Sel restaurant is one of the best in the area, with high level gastronomy and products from its own garden. There are two shifts for the hot springs, morning or afternoon, and for both you must book and have a mobility pass. It has a covered thermal pool and several pools along the river.

From the loft, turn right and then right again onto Route S907. Proceed 5 km to the entrance to Peumayén, which is on the left.
