Our AMÓ House is waiting for you! An ecological house with a beautiful view of the Maquiné River valley, surrounded by Atlantic Forest. Built with our own hands, with materials from the site itself, mostly, and designed with conscious architecture.
AMÓ are all those tasty little fruits that we find in trees or shrubs. Pitangas, acerolas, Brazilian blueberries, wild raspberries, blackberries… for our daughter Lena, they are all AMÓ.
The space
AMÓ - Lugar de Bem Viver is a cultural space of art and sustainability, located between the banks of the Maquiné River and the Serra Geral Biological Reserve.
The space aims to invest in research and artistic creation, production of cultural events, as well as ecological hosting, promotion of agroecological culture and solidarity economy.
The space was created by photographer Mirella Rabaioli, performer and cultural producer Pascal Berten and their daughters Lena (6 years old) and Manu (1 year old).
We are in an environment that allows activities such as campfire, hiking, we have access to a natural pool in the Maquiné River, for you to enjoy nature and its cycles.
A house with history... built with our hands, with natural materials and from the land itself.
It has a double bedroom, mezzanine, living room, kitchen, panoramic bathroom, plus 2 balconies with incredible views. It welcomes a couple, a family or a group of up to 5 people.
The AMÓ house is a great place to enjoy the sounds, smells, views and elements of nature. We are in an abundance of water, wind, earth and fire.
House structure:
It is a bioconstruction house that has a beautiful view of the valleys of the Maquiné River and Pinheiro River. The house has 3 different levels with access via internal stairs.
It has a bedroom (double bed), mezzanine (with 3 single mattresses, optional), living room (fireplace), kitchen (well water and gas stove), bathroom (panoramic bathtub, electric shower and ecological toilet).
The AMÓ house has no TV, as there is much to be seen through the windows and balconies: from small birds to large birds flying over the forest. And on summer nights, fireflies can pay visits.
We have a dry compostable toilet, without using water. We explain how this sustainable technology works for you at the beginning of your stay. The house's gray water is filtered through a circle of roots and organic waste is composted.
We ask that the garbage be separated so that we can forward it for recycling.
As we do not charge a cleaning fee, we ask that the house be left clean and organized for check-out.
In our space, we maintain quiet hours after 10 p.m.
Guest access
The Guest House is at the top of the hill.
Please let us know when you are arriving in Maquiné, so we can wait for you at the house.
The road is all flat and paved, with the last 1 km being a dirt road. Only the final step to get to the house is a 300m road up the hill.
Other things to note
About pets:
Pets are also welcome, but we ask that you take some precautions. Pets must not climb on beds, sofa and chairs. We ask that you bring the animal's own bed/blanket and potty. We also ask that you take care to clean up any messes. Damage caused by the animal will be charged.
About food: the house has a kitchen with all the necessary utensils to prepare a good meal. It also has a refrigerator with freezer and basic items such as salt, seasonings and oil.
Optionally, we offer an Agroecological Basket and guided trails with values and availability to be arranged after booking.
If you need to buy something before arriving at AMÓ, there are several options in the center of Maquiné: market, pharmacy, gas station, agriculture/hardware and other shops.
What can't you forget to bring?
A flashlight independent of the cell phone, galoshes/hiking boots/old sneakers, repellent (for those with allergies, ointments and lotions), and hygiene products (preferably biodegradable), towel, summer clothes, clothes for bathing in the river and warm clothing for cool nights, a bottle of water.
What is interesting to bring?
Small backpack for hiking, shoes for walking on river rocks (neoprene/sneakers), long and light clothes for hiking.
What don't you need to bring?
Bed linen, pillows, blankets.
What can't you bring?
Excess alcohol. Firearms.
Cell phone? At AMÓ, there is a cell phone signal from all operators in the most inhabited part of the land.
Internet? We don't have Wi-Fi.
TV? We don't have TV.
