Remodeled August 2012. Island Colony studio, sleeps 4, kitchen, refrigerator, stove/oven, microwave, cable tv, large lanai, facing sunset, some ocean view and great mountain & canal views. Building offers parking, large pool and deck, sauna and jacuzzi, free papers, store, parking garage and more.
The nearby neighborhood includes several major hotels and numerous large and small restaurants that cater to every nationality. World-class shopping to farmers markets are located throughout Waikiki. A few blocks away you will find famous Kapiolani park and the Waikiki Shell, Honolulu Zoo, Waikiki Aquarium, Diamond Head, golfing and many tennis courts. Watch the sunsets from nearly any vantage point along the beach and see the Friday night fireworks from the Hilton Village. Bring your camera.
Transportation is readily available. Bus stops are located in front of the property, and you can circle the island from your back yard. Rental cars are not really necessary unless you want to spend a lot of time at a certain destination. Ala Moana Center and Convention Center are about 1 mile away, ride the bus or one of the many open air trolleys.
The property is located within a few short blocks from the world's most famous beach, where you can take in surfing, stand-up paddling, canoe surfing, body boarding, snorkel or just sun bathe. Popular surf spots in front of the building include Publics, Queens Surf, Canoes, Pops and 3's. This is where everyone wants to be!

You will retrieve your keys from the lockbox. The lockbox is #2 and is located in the bus lane, on the ocean side of the property, behind the surfboards, on a large structure post.
The Island Colony is in the middle of Waikiki, you can walk to the beach, shopping and restaurants.
The public bus stops 1/2 blocks away as well as the trolley system.
On the day of departure, check-out time is no later than 11am. Guests may request a late check-out. Approval is required for late check-out requests and is based on availability. Approved guests will be assessed the following rates:
-Check-out between 11:01am and 5:00pm: 50% of the daily rental rate.
-Check-out beyond 5:01pm: 100% of the daily rental rate.
Roger was very quick to respond to any questions I had and was very easy to deal with. As far as the actual property it could definitely use some work. It looks exactly like the pictures but its definitely small. We were 4 adults and it was a bit cramped and the bathroom is extremely small. The carpet definitely needs cleaning as well as the drapes. I am kind of a hotel snob so I was a little turned off by this.
Pros: great location, centralized and easy to get to everything and responsive hostess. Free wifi
Cons: dirty carpet and drapes. It's not a hotel so no daily maid service which means you will need to laundry your towels and clean up after yourself daily. We did run out of TP so we had to buy our own. Also parking is $25 a day if you get coupon from the lobby. It might seem expensive but other hotels are 35 a night so it's not that bad
Overall if we can get a little renovation and the place cleaner and if it's just 2-3 adults in the room then it's not a bad place to stay for the price.
My host was very friendly. Whenever we needed anything our contact was available and responded to emails promptly. The room for the most part was as described in the listing and was in a great location 5 min from Waikiki beach!
The best price with the best location! I thought staying right on the beach would be an important factor to optimize our experience when looking for a place to stay during our first trip to Oahu. Lodging at Roger's condo made me change my mind in a hurry during our first stay in Honolulu. There is massive traffic on the main strip (lengthens wait-time for shuttles and taxis), also seems safer - the peddlers and homeless aren't as commonly found in the area this condo is placed. There is a trolley stop that is super close to our building you can take if you wish (we did daily - it was only $2/per, one way) If the beach is where you want to venture, its a 5 min walk! Anything and everything is about a block or so away! We stayed for two weeks. This listing is "homey" and very welcoming. It was very clean, had the A/C on and running when we walked in the door! The size was perfect for the four of us. Kitchenette w/ all the cooking utensils, i.e. pots and pans, dishes and cups... we even had a rice cooker we found in the cupboard (which is a staple food)! The pool in the building was awesome and a good size - you have access to the BBQ grills, coin laundry (that takes card), and even a small convenient store all in the same building! If the heat or the day's activities tire you out - you never have to go far for a swim or a snack! I felt comfortable enough to let my two 13 year olds be at the pool on their own when they wanted, the other tenants and security were quite pleasant. The front desk was very helpful and polite - security accessing the building was good. You need to swipe your key to enter the main area as well as the elevators. Our sink started to leak and Roger responded promptly to our needs - sent a repair man over ASAP. Wifi was provided and worked well. We even had a late check-out that Roger OK'd so we didn't have to store our things elsewhere. This allowed us to enjoy the end of our vacation to the very last minute! The lanai offers awesome city, canal, and mountain views - perfect setting for those days or nights you just want to take in the scenery. Will absolutely rent from Roger again - we plan on returning in the winter and again next summer. Roger will be our first choice when making these plans! Thanks again Roger for being so accommodating! Had such a blast, we didn't want to come home!
We had a great time and the condo was exactly what was described. Roger was quick at responding to my questions.
Good location. Quick 5 minute walk to the beach. Room is in need of cleaning, carpets and drapes and kitchen supplies are getting pretty worn out and grungy.

*The 6th floor-the pool is amazing, the little store was handy, we enjoyed the outside seating
*In general, it was a bit dirty- spots on the curtains, faint graffiti stains visible on the walls
*When I arrived there was an issue with the plumbing. I was very reasonable and worked with Roger to get it resolved.After fielding many phone calls from him, the cleaning personnel, and multiple plumbers, it was never completely resolved during my entire stay. I was disappointed that I had to shower in a different unit and that I wasted valuable vacation time dealing with this issue.
I understand that he could not control the situation but he could have done a much better job rectifying it. I would not stay at another listing from him again.
