Picturesque, central, and quiet. Relax in this modernized, 17th century wooden house attic apartment, explore the historic neighborhood, or walk to the classic Bergen sites within a few minutes. Make the flat become part of your travel experience!
The attic apartment is on the second floor of a typical historical Bergen wooden house. Its build year is estimated to the turn of the 17th to 18th century. Inside it has been modernized over the last ten years, but the facade is preserved. We, a family of four, live in the rest of the house.
Though central, it is very quiet since there is little traffic on the peninsula. The street itself is traffic-free with no cars. Some fjord view from one of the windows.
The apartment is 1 1/2 rooms, and has a fully equipped kitchen, bathroom, and washing facilities. There is a separable double bed in the main room, as well as a 140 cm wide alcovy connected to the kitchen. Wireless internet and cable-TV with international channels. Please note that the stairs are somewhat steeper than normal, which might be a challenge for travelers with reduced mobility.
Usually, and unless otherwise agreed upon, the guests will be welcomed by us when they arrive at the flat. We hand over the keys, and give some simple instructions and tips if they take an interest in it. Beyond that, we live in the house and are happy to provide assistance when desired.
Ideally located on the Nordnes peninsula, you will be in 8 minutes´ walking distance from the main city square Torgalmenningen.
Airport bus and other buses, light rail, and boats are all approximately 10 minutes away, while the train station is a bit less than 20 minutes away by foot. If you have light luggage, you can therefore easily take the airport bus and walk to the apartment. If you have heavy luggage, you may want to consider taking a taxi.

Very cozy, functional, clean and convenient attic apartment. We enjoyed our stay very much.
We had a great time in Sveinung´s appartment. It is close to the city center, charming, well equipped and in a very lovely area. Highly recommend!
Really nice flat in an amazing city. We strongly recommand it!
The apartment is in a picturesque, historic part of Bergen, and close to the harbor, train/bus/tram, museums, shopping, etc. The apartment is exactly as advertised. It is compact, but has everythiing you will need for a brief or extended visit to Bergen. The apartment was clean, well-maintained, and well-furnished. There were four adults in the party (plus 3 other guests for dinner most nights!), but we were comfortable. There are numerous skylights in the apartment, so the natural lighting was superb. We did not meet Svein, but his father introduced himself and made us feel welcome. We had one or two small problems related to the washer (how to get it started), but Svein responded promptly to our emails with solutions. I have nothing but raves for this charming apartment.
The apartment is small but charming and very conveniently located with easy walking distance to everything in the old town including the train/bus stations. It was a tight fit for 3 adults - the extra bed is a wide shelf in the kitchen: extra short, extra hard and no privacy. However it would be ideal for a family with small children! The kitchen was well equipped for cooking meals to save money. The fridge has ample space but no freezer.
The whole attic apartment was cleverly designed to get the most space and modern conveniences without destroying the charm of an old house. We didn't get to meet Sveinung in person, but communication/directions/key access was clear and easy. It was a thrill to stay in a historic house in the old district.
Cozy. As Advertised. Helpful host. Historic Neighborhood. Make sure to ask host the best way to walk there to avoid all the hills.
Extremely cozy attic apartment for my party of 4 adults for a couple of nights. In our Airbnb search options, we felt it was one of the best two priced places in Bergen for 4 people. The Strangebakken street was very charming and the check in/check out process was simple. For those needing to wash clothes, the washer handle was broken when we arrived but you just have to nudge it loose for it to open/close. Apparently it broke because some prior visitors opened it prematurely after washing their clothes. I did not see any nearby laundry facilities so the washing machine here is a life saver in Bergen. When exiting the apartment down the hill, you'll find some flatter streets to walk toward the fish market (Fisketorget); otherwise, you can walk up the hill and have a shorter walk distance wise but with more inclines. I don't know if the upgraded bathroom had a floor which was actually heated but we felt it was!
The apartment is as described on avery charming street, walking distance from railroad station, museums, park. The apartment is very complete, with all necessary things provided, and the internet worked perfectly.
The only precaution I would give is that this apartment may not be suitable for someone who has accessibility issues or an elder person because the street is very steep and there are two flights of circular steps. For anyone else, it should not be a problem.
All communications were prompt and clear.
Sveinung and family were very helpful and approachable this was our first bnb experience and will certainly do again. The apartment and lication were as described. It was great to get away from the crowds and spend time in a cosy apartment. Warm, welcoming and had all we needed for a good stay. Hope to go back.
We had a good, short stay. We had quite hard time to find the place but Bergen's people are very nice. They helped us to find the house.
Great to meet the family with the new born!
