Picturesque, central, and quiet. Relax in this modernized, 17th century wooden house attic apartment, explore the historic neighborhood, or walk to the classic Bergen sites within a few minutes. Ideal for commuters who work a few weeks in the city.
The attic apartment is on the second floor of a typical historical Bergen wooden house. Its build year is estimated to the turn of the 17th to 18th century. Inside it has been modernized over the last ten years, but the facade is preserved. We, a family of four, live in the rest of the house.
Though central, it is very quiet since there is little traffic on the peninsula. The street itself is traffic-free with no cars. Some fjord view from one of the windows.
The apartment is 1 1/2 rooms, with a separable double bed in the main room, as well as an alcovy connected to the kitchen. Please note that the stairs are somewhat steeper than normal, which might be a challenge for travelers with reduced mobility.
We aim to provide the guests with accessories that they need when they are away from home for some time. Thus, the apartment has
* a fully equipped kitchen
* washing machine and drying rack
* ironer and ironing board
* high speed wireless internet (25Mbit wifi)
* 42" cable-TV with international channels
* DVD player and 200+ DVD's
* hi fi system
Interaction with Guests
Usually, and unless otherwise agreed upon, the guests will be welcomed by us when they arrive at the flat. We hand over the keys, and give some simple instructions and tips if they take an interest in it. Beyond that, we live in the house and are happy to provide assistance when desired.
"The white houses" on the Nordnes peninsula is a defining characteristic of the city of Bergen. Families, students, tourists, and all other kinds of residents thrive in this area of 300-year-old timber houses. The relaxed atmosphere, the very central location, the closeness to the sea, the park at the tip of the peninsula, and the community spirit of the Nordnes residents attract locals and foreigners alike to this area.
You will be in 8 minutes´ walking distance from the main city square Torgalmenningen.
Airport bus and other buses, light rail, and boats are all approximately 10 minutes away, while the train station is a bit less than 20 minutes away by foot. If you have light luggage, you can therefore easily take the airport bus and walk to the apartment. If you have heavy luggage, you may want to consider taking a taxi.
The apartment is smoke free.
Sveinung's loft apartment was excellent. It had everything you needed. Warm cosy and very clean. Location was excellent for exploring Bergen, nice and central. Would recommend staying here.
Charming apartment, neighborhood is great and about 20 minutes walk to Bryggen and the city center. The apartment looked bigger from the photos but it was enough for 3 people and maybe more comfortable for two. Things are very expensive in Norway and this was the best rate we got considering the good location. The owner was very nice and although we only met on the last day (due to our different schedule/hours) he sent messages giving directions and was available for any questions/problems. Had a great time and would definitely go back.
Sveinung helped us with information about local supermarkets and walking to the city. The neighbourhood was very quiet and within short walk of the centre of town. The apartment was clean and light. We had our own kitchen and bathroom and it was very private. Breakfast and tea and coffee were not provided, but buy your own from the supermarket. There was also a higher cleaning fee.
Overall we had a nice stay here in Bergen. Sveinung was easy to get ahold of and getting keys was easy. The flat is small, easily big enough for 3 adults, but with 3 adults and 1 child in a separate cot it was quite cozy. The location is fine - a 10-15 minute walk to the airport bus and a few minutes more to get to the fish market or the train station. The furniture is a little different than the photos - much bigger television and a nice chair next to the sofa, plus lots of books and movies on the bookshelf. The building is old, but it was clean with lots of light.
Fantastic place in the heart of Bergen. The apartment is extremely well thought out, I was constantly amazed at how everything we needed was contained in the space (feels much larger than it is, very efficiently laid out). I traveled here with a friend, we spent three days here and really walked away thinking we had experienced the traditional Bergen.
Sveinung was a great host; he met with us shortly after we arrived and gave us a great overview of the apartment. Highly recommend this apartment, it has everything you will need, a very accommodating host and a great location!
I live centrally in Bergen together with my wife and two children (5 and 2 years old). My interests incluce, among others, basketball, film, fishing, football, and political science.
