The space

My Ditmas Park studio is available for short-term rentals. It's on the 4th floor of an elevator building literally two minutes away from the Q train at the Cortelyou Road stop, it's a 7 minute walk to the B express train at Newkirk, or an simple cross-the-platform transfer from the Q two stops away.

As long as two people can share the bed, the studio is a good size for 1-2 people, with an occasional visitor, too. The living area is approximately 12' x 30' (approximately 33.5 square meters). There's a nice couch that folds out, a queen-sized bed, table, desk and plenty of room to walk around, a clean bathroom, and a closet to hang your clothes, if needed. The kitchen is separate and has all necessary dishes and appliances. There's wireless internet, a TV + DVD player and a Roku box (sorry, no cable, but lots of access to television and movies streaming online via amazon or netflix if you want to subscribe or have your own login). The building is safe and quiet, the residents are primarily families. A laundromat is just a minute away on the corner of 16th and Cortelyou.

Ditmas Park is a great neighborhood. Diverse and residential, it has lots of trees and is close to Prospect Park. Cortelyou road is the main drag and is definitely one of the most up-an-coming neighborhoods in Brooklyn. There are a number of really great restaurants within 10 minute walk from the apartment. For self-catering there's the food co-op, two groceries, wine shops, a few bodegas on the same few blocks as well. The Q takes 10 minutes to get to Atlantic Avenue and exactly 25 minutes to get to Union Square. With the B you can be at West Fourth Street in under 30 minutes, that train does not run on the weekends or weeknights after 10:00pm, however.

For the size and location the studio is a great price. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Guest access

You have access to a full kitchen, bathroom, books, TV and internet

Interaction with guests

I or a friend will meet you at the apartment. I like to check in occasionally to make sure that everything is OK. I'm always accessible by phone or email.

The neighborhood

Ditmas Park is fantastic and more than just up-and-coming. There are a dozen really great restaurants just minutes away, a few fun bars and cafes as well as laundry and groceries right down the block. The Q and B trains run here and get you to other parts of Brooklyn and Manhattan very conveniently.

Getting around

The Q train is literally two minutes from the front door. You can take that directly to central Manhattan or transfer to the B train to get other places within Manhattan. If you have a car, you can easily find parking nearby or even on the same block.

Getting here from the airport can be done with the subway or a taxi.

Amir was very kind and helpful, he answered really fast all our questions, he did some good reccomendations... the stay in the appartment was great but the neighborhood was a little dark by night... it was safe anyway but the first time you see it is a little bit darker than expected. The subway station and supermarkets are very close to the appartment and that's a good thing. We were there in summer and in the hot days the appartment is very hot because it's very sunny I would reccomend it and would come back.

Response from Amir:
Thanks, Carla! I'm sorry about the heat--usually New York is not that hot so early in the year and for that reason I hadn't installed the the air conditioner yet. You're welcome to stay again and if it's the summer I would be sure to install the AC for you!

Amir's place was amazing! The studio itself is lovely, with everything you could need. The location of the apartment was 10/10, situated in a really friendly neighbourhood, close to everything. There's a laundromat right on the corner and many supermarkets only a few minutes walk away. Make sure you go to Koko Ramen for a delicious dinner, right around the corner! The studio is also only a few minutes walk to the Cortelyou Rd station so getting around NYC was great! Amir was excellent to communicate with and replied to emails promptly to make sure we were comfortable. We could not have asked for a better place to stay on our 10 day trip to NYC and definitely reccomend Amir's to anybody!

I can definitely recommend Amir and his apartment. It looks exactly like on the pictures and the subway stops only a block away allowing you to reach Manhattan quickly. Amir provided us with plenty of useful information and explained everything about the apartment when we arrived.

We had absolutely the most wonderful stay at Amir's place! Several months ago when we were planning to be in NYC for the Thanksgiving holiday I poured over hundreds and hundreds of NYC Airbnb listings for days and days and narrowed it down to one: Amir's place. It was absolutely perfect! The location and neighborhood, and proximity to the train could not have been better. Everything about this little apartment was exactly and described and provided us, my daughters and I, with the most memorable, perfect Thanksgiving we could have hoped for. Due to flight delays my eldest daughter didn't arrive until 9pm on Thanksgiving which meant we missed our dinner reservation. To our surprise, the Cortelyou Market on the corner was open til 8pm on Thanksgiving. Armed with nothing but determination that Thanksgiving could still be saved, without a grocery list or a plan, we quickly shopped, gathering everything we thought we would need and walked back to the apartment. In little more than an hour, in that charming little kitchen that contained everything I needed, I whipped up a magical Thanksgiving dinner with 6 delicious dishes and a fresh baked pumpkin pie with whipped cream! That huge dining table provided us with the perfect place to enjoy our feast and give thanks in a way we hadn't expected. There were many tears and laughs shared that night and a Thanksgiving dinner that none of us will ever forget. Everything about our stay in that charming little apartment was magical and we could not have asked for a more wonderful and attentive host. Amir was easy to communicate with and responsive to any questions I had. He made it all so easy and his place was truly PERFECT for us! I think I have found my home-away-from home in NYC!!!!

Had pleasant interactions with my host who was helpful and kind. And the apartment was clean and comfortable. Unfortunately, my stay wasn't as great. The location is a massive apartment building with probably 8-10 neighbors per floor. Or at least, that's what it seemed like. There were signs in the hallway that requested neighbors be respectful: "DO NOT PEE IN THE STAIRWELL DO NOT LET YOUR DOG PEE IN THE STAIRWELL DO NOT LEAVE THE GARAGE DOOR PROPPED OPEN SO THAT NON-RESIDENTS GET IN AND SLEEP & PEE IN THE STAIRWELL" which was not particularly charming. Speaking of neighbors, there is a dog on the floor. He didn't seem to bark during the night but in the morning we woke up at the same time (~8am) and I heard him bark in the hallway. I saw a couple roaches in the apartment – one in the kitchen whom I captured. Didn't seem to be a huge issue, and after all it is NYC. Additionally, one night the hot water didn't work. In all fairness, I do believe they were working on the water system that day because there was a sign earlier that said "No water from 10am-noon due to emergency"

Response from Amir:
Sorry about the inconveniences. It is New York and an elevator building, so yes, it's large. The management company was doing repairs, so I'm sorry that your stay coincided with that. The wifi code, by the way, is on the manual. Once you book the apartment Airbnb provides that to you. In fact, it's written twice. For future reference, no matter where you stay, if you see a roach killing it is just fine.

After doing a lot of research and reading the reviews, I was excited to stay at Amir's apartment for the month and was definitely not disappointed when seeing it in person! Amir, you have great taste when it comes to interior design and decorating! The studio looks as shown in the pictures and was a comfy and cozy place I was fortunate enough to call home for one month. Amir greeted us on the first day, showing us around, and provided towels, an adequate supply of toilet paper, and other amenities that I fully appreciated. His kitchen was also fully stocked with whatever utensils, bowls, pots, or pans needed. The bed is queen sized and very comfortable to sleep on, and the futon in the living area is just as comfy. As far as location, I LOVED it! The Q metro line is literally around the corner, and it takes you directly into Manhattan without transfers; it makes stops at Chinatown and Times Square also! The neighborhood is VERY safe, full of families walking around with lots of light at night. There is a Duane Reade, an organic food market, and non-organic market around the corner if you need. Cortelyou road also has many cute restaurants to try, all of which are delicious! As a host, Amir was amazing and so attentive. He was always easy to reach by text or phone. I consider myself lucky to have found such a spacious space to stay, with such an incredible host! It is truly a gem! So thank you so much for everything Amir, and I would highly recommend to anyone. It is affordable and close enough to enjoy all of the main attractions of NY!

I recently finished my PhD student in Middle Eastern Studies and literature and teach languages and lit at a few places in the NYC-area. I love traveling, music, reading and running.

My studio apartment is available for the times that I'm away from Brooklyn. For New York it's spacious, clean and full of light. You'll find everything you need in it in order to make your visit to New York comfortable.

Feel free to write if you have any questions about me or the apartment!
