Interaction with Guests
I do not live in the building but i do always come to the apartment to get the room ready for our guests. I like to make sure that all is clean and that the guest is satisfied. I have a 24 hour check-in system in place to accommodate any late check-ins or any guests that are a bit late. you can reach via mobile phone or AirBnB message at any time, please don't hesitate :)
I used to run my guest house on this very street, so i should know the area very well. The flat is right in the heart of London so it is difficult to pick out any one place in particular that you must visit. But for eating out my favourite is Old Compton Street, one of the most renowned places in London to serve dinner til late at night. The British Museum is at the heart of Bloomsbury, a mere walking distance away from the apartment. Historically, Bloomsbury is associated with the education, medicine and mostly, the art. Therefore the area sets a sophisticated yet very modern atmosphere. The Bloomsbury theatre, a very respected theatre within the eyes of Londoners and actors/actresses alike; is located within the area.
Attractions like Oxford and Soho are easily accessible through public transport as the flat is so close to it anyway.
Locals to the area are spoil for choice with restaurants, bars and clubs being within feet of each other. The location is amazing! Come visit and experience London in its full beauty for yourself :)
The closest tube stations are Tottenham Court Road (Central and Northern line) and Holborn (Victoria and Central line, both are a 5 minute walk away.
No smoking inside the premises.
No pets allowed inside the apartments.
No parties to keep the apartments clean please.
Maggie was very responsive. The building location is great. It's on a charming block. The windows provide lots of light and though the room is small it didn't feel claustrophobic. The kitchen has everything you'd need to cook for a couple people. The laundry was a nice benefit. The bed isn't the most comfortable and taking a shower does get the whole bathroom wet, but maybe that's standard for UK showers? But on the whole it's a great room / place. When a problem arose with a lock and key, Maggie and Peter were quick to address it.
Our experience at Maggie's flat was mixed.
Pros: easy check-in/out, great location (only 1 block from British Museum), quiet, relatively spacious for London accommodations at this price. Large kitchen with washing machine, and includes all the promised amenities. Large bed (two twin beds pushed together).
-TINY and ineffective bathroom, like a cabin toilet on a cruise ship. The shower is incredibly narrow, with only a curtain rather than walls. The curtain is not clean, and touches the toilet, so there is barely any space to shower unless you want to rub up against the cloth. And there is only a 1-inch rise from the floor, so the water gets EVERYWHERE. The toilet is difficult to flush, and the ventilation is quite bad.
- Very steep, winding, and narrow stairs (it's on 3rd floor (4th floor for US travellers). NOT suitable if you have large luggage or are older.
This was our first AirBnb experience and we really enjoyed staying here. It's a comfortable studio located in a really ideal location. You're a 5 min walk from the Holborn tube station, which has access to the Piccadilly and Central lines and makes it easy to reach nearly everywhere in the city. The neighborhood is also right between the Covent Garden/Piccadilly area and St. Paul's/The City, so if you're okay with walking you could get to a lot of places within 15-20 minutes. Also ample access to everything via buses, and you're right around the corner from the British Museum, which is a must-see sight in its own right. Honestly the location is the biggest highlight, we had no shortage of options for breakfast places, book shops, pubs, even a Sainsbury nearby to pick up a few groceries we needed etc, and it was very easy to get to top spots in the city. Maggie was a great host. We didn't get a chance to meet personally but she provided all the basic necessities in the apartment and was readily available to answer questions via message. We were also grateful that she was so accommodating on checkin-out times, made everything much easier. All in all I would highly recommend this flat - great price on an ideally located unit with a very kind and helpful host.
Maggie's flat is in a wonderful location and like a home away from home! Peter was very helpful on my arrival. Looking forward to me next visit!
I rented the flat on behalf of one artist who visited London with her husband and her baby. Herewith her review: "Clean flat, good location and friendly service. The room was warm enough despite the thin windows, so electric heater works very well. Although the bathroom is little, it has everything you need."
