Beautiful sunny furnished room in lovely, elegantly restored Victorian townhouse in a very desirable location 6 blocks from MIT and Harvard. THIS PROPERTY IS NOT AN APARTMENT, IT IS A TOWNHOUSE.
Quiet street, 1 block to Central T. The house is in a vibrant area with lots of cool pubs, restaurants, bookstores, art galleries, grocery stores, banks, etc, but on a very quiet side street, so it offers the best of all worlds.
No kitchen or common areas, host not in residence, just a wonderful location, and perfect for those seeking privacy. 1/2 block from Mass Ave., 1 block to MBTA. Wireless internet included, cable TV in each room, free parking subject to availability. There is a large lot a block away, on the corner of Bishop Allen Drive and Prospect Street, that is free from 5pm Friday to 7am Monday, and 5pm to 7am weekdays. There is also parking available nearby at 260 and 438 Green Street. On-street meteres are free from 6pm to 8am and Saturday 6pm to Monday 8am.
Perfect for a friendly but focused professional/visiting professor/grad student. Harvard/MIT visiting professors and PhD students often stay here as well. It is a quiet environment, perfect for studying or quiet rest.

Absolutely disgusting place. Cracks in the walls, stained drapes, and a shower that I was afraid to use due to the filth. Gives AirBNB a bad name.
We were not clear about the shared bathroom, in which we initially could not find a light switch. We had to listen to many other guests walking on our floor and overhead--very disconcerting when trying to sleep. And we had to wait our turn in the morning for showers.
The bed was comfortable, but the comforter was too warm and did not allow for the fact that it wasn't yet cold out.
Pretty simple, but spacious, clean and convenient.
Super-comfortable stay on a beautiful side street during a hectic Cambridge weekend. Really appreciate the host's efficiency.
Perfectly convenient, excellent location, large comfortable room. Almost like staying in a guesthouse, or small motel. The A/C didn't work that well.
Overall my cousins who stayed in the room did not have the best experience. First, the house is very old and smells a bit. Second, the room didn't match the room in the photo at all. Third, my cousins were not able to use the kitchen (and I assumed that kitchen usage was included). Fourth, on the pre-last day new tenants entered the room where my cousins stayed and told them that they had to move in that day. My cousins had to argue with the new tenants explaining that they would move out next day morning. It turned out that the host may have mistakenly confused our check-out date.
Among the positive sides, the apartment is very old and thus may appeal to those who love antiquities. Also, the apartment is very conveniently located near Central Sq. between Harvard and MIT.
On the day of our arrival, we had problems contacting "John" and could not reach him on either the provided phone numbers, email or airbnb site. At the point where we had been already considering other accommodation options we got a reply through airbnb. Other than that the house was quite ok. Not super clean but in fact a really beautiful house in a very nice part of the city. The room was actually quite large. No place to put clothes though, cause everything is already taken (things of the host). All in all I think the price was too much for what it offered.
The pro: very good location
The cons: First, lots of personal stuff and no space for putting clothes. Second, a lot of things in disorder. Third, bed sheet was dirty. Finally, the most deceiving part. After my mother (who stayed there) told me about the status of the room I contacted John and he told me it was not possible this was the situation (but I had pictures) and eventually agreed to send someone to clean the day after. Nobody did come to clean and change the bed sheets.
The pictures on AIRBNB look very different from the reality. Very disappointing
Great room, love it, and great location too, near Central. Yet the bathroom is not super clean...
A nice room in a very good neighborhood. The location was excellent, around the corner from the T-line and we could easily walk to Harvard square. The place was clean enough, but I didn't realize it was a shared bathroom, and the other guests using the bathroom at the time were not very clean. Considering how expensive it is to stay in Boston, this was a pretty good deal. We did not meet John, all communication was via this website, and it worked well.
