Check In
  • The quality of the house and the room exceeded my expectations. Excellent Venice location. Steps from the beach and 5 minutes walking to Abbot Kinney. The house manager and the other guests were also fun to hang out with. For anyone looking to stay in Venice this is a solid option.

  • We were very disappointed with our stay. The photo's and description led us to believe that we had a private bathroom, so having to share a bathroom was unexpexted, especially one that had a door leading into our bedroom.
The posting promises free secure parking but when other people started booking in, the "house manager" tried to kick us out of the parking because we were there on our (very nice!) motorbike and he wanted to continue parking his car in the secure parking. When I objected, he told me that that is why they dont accept motorcycles and pets, because "they just cause problems". I believe if they don't accommodate bikes, they should really say so in the posting, so that we (and other bike lovers) know to stay away. I took exception to being in a category with pets, that "just cause problems". We sometimes ride a bike when we go on holiday, because we enjoy it, not because we are some problematic hooligans and have certainly never been referred to as a problem anywhere else we went.
The posting also promised an air conditioner, but the single AC control was in a different bedroom for the entire house and every time we switched it on, being really hot, the house manager would switch it off again - so again, I think you can only advertise AC if the guests are allowed to use it.
The house was also really dirty when we checked in and the building contractor who was working on the house, was running around, making our bed. My husband ended up helping to make the bed and we tried our best to ignore the fact that the quilt was really dirty and not washed at all. When mentioning how dirty the house was, the house manager did not apologize, but just said that they had a family checking out that morning: Official check-in is at 3pm and we only arrived at 5:30pm - so I don't believe expecting a clean house (or at least bedroom and bathroom) was unreasonable. Our room and bathroom were cleaned the next morning.
We were told we were allowed to use the fridge in the kitchen, but only put a bottle of wine in, which promptly disappeared. When asking the house manager, he blamed the maid, but a similar bottle miraculously appeared in the grocery cupboard a day later and we were told that the maid thought it was vinegar - at least we got it back, but it made us nervous about leaving our things in the house without a room key for security.

  • The house is beautifully renovated and located a block from the beach. Our only concern was that, because of the renovation, a contractor was staying in a bedroom on the ground floor, and an individual who seemed to be a groundskeeper was downstairs in the morning when we woke up. The house and the amenities were great, but we were startled a few times by visitors who were helping with the renovation process and there was an open house going on when we arrived (the house is for sale).

  • A little rugged around the edges compared to the photos however still a fantastic house, location and price! Will definitely stay here again when back in LA. Thanks!

  • This was a beautiful house right in the middle of all the Venice beach action. Kathy was an excellent host, really nice, helpful and welcoming. I highly recommend this place!

  • I stayed for 5 days. The house is exactly as it seems. Stunning. It's literally 20 steps to the beach but the street is surprisingly quiet. I was alone for most of it but felt really safe, the house is fully fenced, secure and has cameras all over the property that you can keep an eye on. Check in and out was easy and fault free. Price was perfect.

  • The perfect place to stay in LA, an older house with real character right off Venice Beach. The inside is elegant, spacious, clean and very modern. No one else was there during my stay so I had the run of the place. Felt a bit like a (very well-heeled!) local. Lots of nice places to eat, drink and hang out nearby.

Kathy was a very helpful and gracious host. We never met, because my flight was delayed and I arrived absurdly late at night. But she made sure I knew the route from the airport and that the key was left out safely.

My only quibble was that there was no way to find out the WiFi password on arrival, so I ran up some hefty roaming charges on the first night.

Otherwise, it was a wonderful stay. Would I return? In a heartbeat.

    Many thanks, Kathy!!
