Beautiful and cozy little house in the cobble-stone streets of a medieval Italian hill-top fortress town, just one hour north of Rome. Our home is nestled in a small courtyard and is on 3 levels plus a traditional 'cantina' (cold storage basement for fruits, veggies, olive oil, cheeses and dried meats).
Walk into a kitchen/dining room area with fireplace and built-in washing machine. Up a wrought-iron staircase leads you to the second-floor office/living room space with a Juliette balcony and separate 4-piece bathroom. A small ladder-like staircase leads to the third floor loft bedroom with AC unit and skylight.
Right in the heart of the historic centre of town with all shops, markets, gelateria, cafe, restaurants, pizzerias, bakeries within a few minutes walk. Near to the Duomo, main piazza as well as smaller piazza's, the fort, art galleries and museums. 5 min. walk to bus and train stations to nearby towns, Florence or Rome.
A wonderful little home in the midst of the beautiful old part of Civita Castellana.
The apartment is conveniently situated a short walk from the local church, the fort, the main piazza, the showroom and shop of the master ceramicist 'Mastro Cencio' (must see), the many magnificent views of the landscape surrounding the town, the bakery, pharmacy, post office, cafe', bar and other sights and conveniences.
It's a five minute walk from the train and bus stations. A 45 min' car drive or a 1:45 hour train ride to the center of Rome.
The apartment has a fully rigged kitchen, washing machine ventilators and other necessities.
The space is cosy and I find it very homely and convenient, the apartment would serve a single person or a couple ideally. There is a spiral staircase leading up to the second floor that is the bedroom, and small ladder leading into the third floor that can be used as a storage space.
Melissa the host is very helpful, kind and attentive. The local contact person, Danilo, is also very kind person and a problem solver, he works in the area and will help with anything.
Thank you for a wonderful experience!
It is really charming house in very authentic town - thankful for that! However this experience is probably not for everybody as this area is not so touristic. The house is small but comfortable - ideal for 2 at least. The hot water, towels, washing machine... Unfortunately no wi-fi inside the house at that time, only offered public spot at the library next door. As somebody was renting the house from time to time more accurate cleaning would be required. It was episode of miscommunication with Melissa initially , I believe due to her absence in Italy trying to conduct everything from abroad. Otherwise, we've received great help from the local man - Melissa's friend.
Overall the price is not really high so some other things might be not so important.
