Room with double bed and wood-burning fireplace in a grand old apartment in an historic Italian villa in central Ventimglia. The room's lovely terrace overlooks Ventimiglia's most elegant via, and is perfect for soaking up the sun, or sipping a glass of wine whilst watching Ventimigliesi on their evening stroll, decked out in the latest Italian fashions. The beach is 200 feet away, the train station a distance of three blocks. The historic center of Ventimiglia is a five-minute walk from the apartment, where four medieval churches are a main tourist attraction. The famous Ventimiglia covered fruit and vegetable market, which brings tourists, and many French, is only a block away.
We also rent bikes!
We serve a fantastic breakfast of all organic and Fair Trade ingredients. We eat only organic. I cook everything from ice cream to pizza from scratch.
Coddled by the maritime alps and the sea, Ventimiglia is nearly always sunny and warm in the winter. Famous for its fragrant late winter flora, the area makes for a wonderful winter holiday. Summer is never too hot, since the sea breezes keep our area balmy, but not stifling.
Monte Carlo is a 30-minute train ride from Ventimiglia station. Nice is only 40 minutes away by train.
Ventimiglia hosts many festivals throughout the year, but is also close to the many culinary festivals held in smaller villages nearby.
Liguria is the jewel of Italy, where the sea and the mountains meet.
the August medieval festival, when kings and queens, bishops and knights in ornate costumes, parade and dance. A medieval meal is held in the old town, where everyone eats like...a king, without cutlery.

Spring for the Artichoke festivals (Napoleon's favorite)
Fall for chestnut and farinata festivals ( how ligurians survived wars, when wheat was a luxury)

the Befana!! Every mountain village has a central square. Every square has a fire burning from Christmas Eve to January 6th. On the 6th they burn the effigy of the witch ( a giant pinata),but only after the young men, have carried the huge wooden effigy up and down the narrow carruggi of the town. Then everyone celebrates. Some towns have produced famous jazz musicians, who show up for the party. Some towns have bigger, and more popular parties.
Italian fashion and design sales, sales, sales! three times a year. 50 to 70 % discounts.
Wine harvesting! Wine drinking. Rossese, from Dolceacqua, a few miles inland, is not aged.
Every village and town has a festival to claim either a local ingredient, or the preparation thereof. They are not kidding. A square meter of sunlight or saltwater changes the taste of cheese, of wine, and the color of artichokes. Check it out on Slowfood. These festivals are usually accompanied by music.
All the towns mentioned above can be reached by public transport, a bus that run from Ventimiglia, a block away from the villa.
Ventimiglia is unique because we have the beach, the mountains, and a beautiful river. The old town offers history and the modern part offers stylish shops, elegant yet authentic cuisine, and busy cafés.
Pierre and Elizabeth were an absolute pleasure to stay with....Ventimiglia certainly was made richer to us because of them. Nice, clean, good location, lovely dogs, delicious fruit for breakfast. Indeed, we will stay with them again during our next visit to Ventimiglia and we look forward to getting to know them further.
Good location. Pierre & Elizabeth were helpful and gave us lots of handy suggestions. Enjoyed our stay.
super big, nice and old flat, close to everything "downtown". Very intersting and friendly host. The dogs didn't like me that much at first sight but we became friends pretty fast. Go there if you're around!!
Elizabeth and Pierre are charming and thoughtful hosts. The room was very comfortable (possibly the best bed of our trip!), and it was a great convenience having laundry available and breakfast ready in the morning. Thank you!
Dear Elizabeth and Pierre,
Our stay in your house was very nice. The welcome of Pierre was heart-warming. The fact that you shared with us your nice places to stay, drink and eat made it a very pleasant stay. Thank you, when we are on are way to Venice next year we hope that you have a free room for us.

Thanks so much to Elizabeth and Pierre for a lovely stay in such an interesting and lively place. The building is fantastic, old and with a balcony to the guest bedroom which gives on to the main street outside, which is fascinating. They're just doors away from the Ventimiglia food market too, where you could spend all day!
A very warm welcome and great care to ensure I had a delicious breakfast every day, everything fresh and organic, wonderful!
The apartment boasts a big collection of interesting and eclectic artwork which was fascinating.
Sadly Elizabeth was away when I visited, but Pierre was interesting company and told me a lot about nutrition; and was helpful in suggesting where I could buy cheap petrol!
Thanks so much, will be back!
It was a pleasure to stay with Elizabeth in her beautiful house. She was incredibly welcoming, especially considering we were so last minute. Full of local knowledge (she recommended an incredible restaurant as well as a beautiful day trip to a nearby town) and gave us a delicious, locally sourced organic breakfast. I cannot recommend highly enough. Thank you!
We only spent one night with Elizabeth. The apartment is truly beautiful with all the original finishes. The room has a lovely balcony and the bed was great. They are very close to the train station and the beach. We had to leave early so cant comment on the breakfast. If it was anything like the rest of the stay it would've been amazing :)
My daughter and I loved the place. My daughter especially loved the style of the place and the real italian ambiance. We loved the view from the balcony! --despite how loud the street is all day and night... Breakfast was great, fruits, yoghurt, tea, coffee, bread, jam... The whole nine yards! ..all organic apparently! Their two dogs were very friendly, and are great security!! Overall a great stay here! Recommended!
I only spent one night at Elizabeth's place, but she was very helpful already before arriving, very fast in getting back to me and she was also so nice to pick me up at the station. The apartment is centrally located, about 10 minutes from the train station, and is actually in a kind of an old style palazzo with high ceilings. Breakfast was included and prepared by them before getting up, so you just had to sit at the table and enjoy some fruit and jam and tasty bread!
I enjoyed chatting with Elizabeth and her husband, and also loved their two dogs!
