The Water Wheel is our place to unplug and detox from the hustle and bustle of life. When we are not here enjoying this space we want to share it with you.
Imagine yourself lounging by our fire pit with a local brew or taking in the mountain views from the hot tub then creating an amazing meal. Detox in our cedar sauna after a long hike. Or if you are exploring the area then it is the perfect home base for adventures in the mountains or to Asheville for breweries, dining or shopping.

The space
Our A-Frame cabin is small but with an open feel. We have large windows in the front of the house overlooking the mountains. There is a loft bedroom that is accessed with ladder stairs with a king bed and a twin. Downstairs we have a fully equipped kitchen, living and dining areas and a 1/2 bath. There is also a bedroom with a queen bed and adjoining full bath. The deck has a hot tub and mountain views. Just off the front of the house is our patio with a fire pit and 4 Polywood Adirondack chairs and our cedar barrel sauna.
Please note that the Aframe is located in a secluded mountain cove. Getting there involves driving over a mile on a gravel and dirt road.

Guest access
The house is on a private road in the Panther Creek neighborhood in Clyde. You need a car to access the house. There is space for 2 cars near the entrance.

Other things to note
We are fairly isolated in the mountains. We have Starlink satellite Wi-Fi. It can fluctuate but is generally very fast. Cell phone reception may be spotty depending on your carrier.

45 minutes to Downtown Asheville
30 minutes to Downtown Waynesville
1 hour to Hot Springs
30 minutes to large Grocery Stores / Walmart
We are in a rural setting. You will pass dairy farms that produce milk for Ingles, our local grocery store. You might see goats, buffalo, or alpacas along the road. There are almost always horses out in pasture along our road.
Our road, Water Wheel cove, is gravel and bumpy in spots and you might lose your cell phone signal on your way up to the A-frame.
Because the road to the A-frame is gravel and dirt, a 4 wheel drive is suggested especially in times of snow or heavy rain.

Neighborhood highlights

The Water Wheel A-frame is a remote cabin located on a private gravel road on a wooded lot. Although we are remote, the cabin is centrally located for exploring the area -- 45 minutes to downtown Asheville, 24 minutes to Lake Junaluska, 40 minutes to Cataloochee Valley Overlook, 30 minutes to Maggie Valley, 45 minutes to Max Patch and 1 hour to Hot Springs (via a scenic drive through the valley), 30 minutes to excellent hikes like Hemp Hill Bald, Purchase Knob, Ferguson Cabin, Cataloochie Divide, Little Fall Branch, Soco Falls. We are 30 minutes from large grocery stores (Publix, Food Lion and Ingles) and Walmart (in Waynesville). We are 15 minutes from Presnell's Produce & More, our neighborhood grocery, which carries locally raised meat, local produce and amish products. The closest breweries in Waynesville (Boojum and Frog Level) and in Canton (Bear Waters)
There are a few restaurants in Waynesville and Canton but I recommend heading to Asheville for dining.
The immediate neighborhood is mostly cabins and farms. We are 3 minutes from Panther Creek Horseback Rides.
